A Japanese edition of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is sold on August 3.

Game objectives

  • Emulator used:Bizhawk 1.12.0
  • Abuses programming errors
  • Aims for fastest time / Any%
  • Genre: Platform

Tricks and Techniques

  • Zip-Zagging
  • Gate clip
  • Item glitch

Update information

  • Collision judgment at some gates disappeared offscreen, so I considered that and went through that short.
  • It was possible to increase stamps at high speed at level 21.
  • Because a globular enemy would spread an invincible shield based on a global timer, I adjusted that by reducing a loading stop.
  • Because a loading stop would occur if you approached the last gate of level 21 at high speed, when waiting for prickly enemy, a camera was led to front a little and that was evaded.
  • I reduced a lag of the last battle.

Comment

The BIOS which thought I was SCPH1000 seems to have been SCPH3000.

Noxxa: Judging.
Noxxa: The game's subtitle of "Warped" turns out to be pretty descriptive of what this run is. We've seen zip-zagging before in previous runs, but this one is most effective at showing off just how broken it is, both for traversing stage sections at ludicrous speeds and for playing around during the final boss battle.
Aside from that, it's a clear improvement in routing compared to the previous run done on the USA version. As such, accepting as an improvement to that movie.
Sync note: the movie does sync on SCPH1000, rather than SCPH3000 noted above.
Spikestuff: Publishing.

The amount of speed and insanity is just hilarious. Yes vote, probably my favorite for speedy TAS of 2017.

Are there any (relevant) version differences between the Japanese and USA versions? (Besides translated text/dialogue, obviously)
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Poor Cortex-sama, already the 4th time he got tased this year. One little question though, why didn't you get crystal #10 instead of crystal #25 ? I am assuming it's because the boucing speed on the box was too high, or is there another reason ?

Why do you use the far away laser to kill yourself instead of the nearby one?

A laser and an enemy are being stamped at the same time, so that's probably a nearby place.

There is difference in advice of akuaku, but most doesn't influence by this TAS. But the difference by the BIOS exists.

😵 (it was either this or the "astonished face" Emoji, so I chose this one to easily represent how crazy this TAS is) This is legitimately insane. My favorite part of this was the new method that you discovered in order to rack up 200 bounces. In short, a yes vote.

Yes vote. I expect an improvement to Crash 2's item glitch as well. So... is this good enough for Star snow?

Nice work, the new finds are really cool and the Cortex fight was great. The publisher should set the speed/entertainment tradeoff flag since SFX was kept on for this. I'm a bit confused about the choice of using J so I decided to have a look into it. You seem to get one less blue warp cutscene on J, this is for the first level entry. But also, J loses time on the title screen. I've heard of some physics differences with jump height between the two but as far as I can tell, the physics are the same, unless I'm missing something. So it seems like SFX on is faster on J (one less blue warp cancels time lost from title screen) and SFX off is faster on U. If you have more info regarding your choice I'd be interested to hear it

I would like to point out that any differences between non-gameplay elements (such as title screen, loads, etc.) are not taken into consideration when judging for obsoletion.

Oh wow, a run with the box glitch that manages to not be boring and annoying. Giving this a Yes, obviously.
effort on the first draft means less effort on any draft thereafter - some loser

Totally agreed! A very big and fast yes!

Love it! Shame that there's like a whole minute of Crash just counting his crystals, but apart from that I was grinning from beginning to end.
