Anyone tried this game? Is a good game, it's Final Fantasy VII... :) I played a little, killed some enemies, tried to read some texts (is a japanese game), is nice... If someone are interest in a TAS of this game, can check some information and Screenshots here. Anyone can do this for us? I really want to watch...

I haven't tried running it in FCEU yet (on the grounds that it was stated in the article to only work on a hacked version of VirtuaNES), but I did grab it a couple days ago. For recycling a lot of FFIII, it isn't a terrible restructuring of VII. If it does run in FCEU, it might be worth watching.

You're not missing anything in IX. You wander around for a bit, then face off against an unexplained villian who serves no purpose in the story. Steiner decides to stop being an insufferable moron afterward, for reasons equally unknown. The end. And VIII basically tries to remake the first Final Fantasy's ending. VIII was actually my favorite of the Sony era Final Fantasies, and I know I'm all alone on that one. VII was VII. I don't even think you really need to play the game to have perfect understanding of every intricate detail, the way people talk about the thing.

IX had a wonderful soundtrack, beautiful scenery, the card game wasn't trash, and Vivi is one of my favorite characters to come from the series. That's about all I can say for its good points, though. I'm still miffed that the only other character I liked right off, Beatrix, is barely there. Then again, I was upset over the small amount of time you had with Edea in VIII, and I still consider it my favorite of the Sony era. And it would seem that this ROM does indeed run on FCEU. Good to know.

I loved 8. Thought it was amazing, and possibly better gameplay than 7 (that's just me). I really don't want to start a war, so I'll leave that as my opinion, and for getting back on topic, I think this game would be interesting to do... Sure would be quite interesting to see some of the responses to a video, or even a WIP.

A TAS of this game would be interesting. I have a testrun up to Aeris house in 31 minutes. I'm sure it can be improved, but its really hard to say.. Routing this game is like routing ffxiii.. The battles take longer to beat than boss battles do.. Maybe beating just the bosses and hoping they drop good equipment throughout could be beneficial? I remember in my first attempt, I didn't level up even after the 8th mandatory battle.. And those battles too forever.. Go figure.. Maybe eventually I'll get a level up after every battle.. The idea is to lower rounds. Adding up all the rounds total would be a real big number.. I do know you could manipulate random battles to be one enemy, then try to get equipment afterwords, so that could be optimal.. Again, hard to say..

Sorry about the double post I found the address: 0x0B2 2 bytes siged And made a lua script to brute force:
local HPAddr=0x0B2
local HP
local num=true
save1 = savestate.create()
savestate.save(save1)
while num do
 HP=memory.readword(HPAddr)
 if HP == 100 then
   savestate.load(save1)
   emu.frameadvance()
   savestate.save(save1)
 end
 print(HP)
 joypad.set(1,{A=true})
 emu.frameadvance()
 emu.frameadvance()
end
You might want to do it after seeing gil count. Just hold frame advance until it finds an item. For some reason, some items have the same value.. like sometimes.. So I can't make some reference table..

*Bump* Alright, I've looked up more memory address and found where specific items are dropped from enemies: 0x0B5 Byte Now, I've been digging through the items and posting what I have so far before I go to bed: mega 32 recruit 121 hunting 85 hood 101 ether 53 crimson 80 x-mega 52 guard helmet 15 hi mega 42 natural 31 servant 109 ragged 73 devout 26 red 43 str+ 95 spr+ 116 That's what I have so far. Really glad I've finally found this.. If anyone wants to help out with finding critical, regular, and miss for that'd be awesome. Thanks

*Bump* again I have found more useful memory addresses: Number of enemies in random encounter: 0x6F4F unsigned byte Address for Regular, critical, and miss: 0600 unsigned byte The address 0600 has 4 flags: 0-9 damage is 1 Regular attack is 2 Critical attack is 3 Miss is 4 And that 0600 address applies to anytime a hit is made. Doesn't seem to matter who.

Bump again.. after like 2 years. I dont really think a tas of this would be entertaining. We would want the patched version, as it makes the battles less tedious, but it still doesnt offer much. You cant really tell that a crit was made, the battles are very repetitive(like no strategy whatsoever), very unbalanced, you would have to fight all battles just for gil for choco lure and to get into gold saucer, shops are literally fixed, and to todays expectations, this game is very boring even with the patch. Lastly, because its literally dependent on luck, rta is just not viable.
