Seriously, what the hell's going on here? Why is crap from September of LAST YEAR still in it? Why has it not been shortened and cleaned up? Is there ANY logical reason for why it's so damn long? Either start watching and/or publishing the runs people have voted strongly for or just get rid of the blasted things altogether. There's over EIGHTY RUNS in it, for god's sake.

We were just talking about this on the IRC channel right now. call it thelepathy. I wouldn't mind rejecting some runs (including mine), but also, it's a lot of work on the publisher's shoulders, so give them a break ;)

I concur. More encoders FTW.

I think it'd be okay to just delete submissions that are over, say, 9 months old. They obviously aren't anything all that great because they haven't been published yet.

Yes. The number of people who submit movies is greater than the number of people who process the movies, even though the amount of free time on the members of both groups is approximately the equal. And, the general hesitation to judge movies of games you're unfamiliar with and which aren't clearly audience favourites either.

I would gladly help with the encoding if it was bulletproof and easy to output the AVI. We've talked about this many times, but I still can't get it to work.

Err.. If you feel that your material is rejectable in any way, why don't you just hit the cancel button? Even though a movie might get rejected however, it still might be good as a reference for upcoming runs. So I would not like to see the rejected or canceled onced cleared away completly, but rather moved into another thread.

I've said before and i say again, after a movie is finished it's not up to me to decide if others want to see it, it's public domain now. If people think it's worth publishing it doesn't matter what i think does it? I don't think the movie can be improved, but I think it's too long to be entertaining, but that's just my personal opinion as anybody else's, so it's there to be voted.

I'd like to help encode movies as well, but I can't get it to work either. It's been talked about in a different thread but no matter what I do it just won't work. Anyway, what if you gave some sort of bonus or reward to people who watch submissions and vote on them. It might get more people to watch and vote. Then again, what could be given out?

Is the problem encoding power, or judging the submissions, or both? I cannot be a judge since I do not fulfill the "can create AVI files". Perhaps you can create a specific category of privileges for people who can only reject submission, and not accept. (Letting someone who can't encode accept submissions means someone else has to do his/her dirtywork, and I don't think people generally are interested in that.) That would relieve some of the clogging in the queue at the moment. It wouldn't get the good runs encoded, of course, but that tend to happen anyway.

I also tried encoding, but i can't get the same level of compression that they get, and i don't have time to learn it.

I've also tried encoding and I have been able to get the file very small but the quality isn't as good as Bisqwit's of DeHackEd's. I wish I'd be as good as they ;)
