Oh wow, neat! Maybe I'll TAS it sometime if nobody does. But I think some more glitch testing is in order, first. Just from watching, the video seems similar to that bug with the bird I found 2014. The reddit post tells that Sia falls into the gap before the walrus. So I assume Sia dies and screen fades out but at the same time you beat the boss and win? (I didn't play the game so idk) It seems the game has trouble when multiple things happen simultaneously. Right now, I'm just thinking the bug could be done in some other, possibly earlier places.

I was originally only going to look into this specific glitch with someone else and didn't expect to find it so fast after they went to sleep. I don't plan on making a TAS but I can look for more glitches if there's interest. From playing the game up until this point it doesn't seem very solid at all. You are correct in that you die the same time it fades to the game over because you lose a life doing this. If you don't have 0 lives it still skips the victory boss music and goes directly to the next world. I have a video of that too but didn't bother including it in my original post since it was obsoleted. Another thing I found (which I see mentioned in your post you linked) was that pausing and going to the main menu when you beat the fight takes you to the main menu instead of the title screen. It did not count as winning the fight.

I have tested the walrus bug a bit. So it seems having 0 lives is a requirement. I'm going to test with 0 lives on other bosses now. Edit: Bug doesn't seem to happen with other bosses. The gameover is triggered very quickly at walrus. But when trying to go for a gameover on the previous bosses, Sia needs to wait for her dying animation dying sound effect (?) to end.

So is anyone working on this now? Because otherwise, I might pick it up sooner or later.

Well, I am not currently working on a glitch-warped run, because... I have finished it. The only problem preventing me from submitting it is the "luck manipulation" on the "final boss" (Walrus), which cost me 2 frames.

What's the problem with the manipulation?
effort on the first draft means less effort on any draft thereafter - some loser

The collision "glitch" or something. You may take a look at the jump around Frame 42159. Without delaying the start of this boss fighting stage, such a jump would (normally) be blocked by the boss.

@klmz: That's a pleasant surprise. 2 frames? If you can't get it to work it's really negligible. Will you submit it?

I saved 1 frame in Snowy Mountain then lost it luck-manipulating Walrus. however I saved the 2 frames previously spent on manpulation and 16 more in Walrus fight, and lost 1 for getting the glitch warp to work. Many levels have been tweaked for entertainment while saving no time. (So your previous savestates won't work and you'll have to watch over again.) The result is a run 17 frames faster. I'll submit it when I determine that no more frames can be saved. EDIT: I have no idea what affects the GO warp glitch. It appears to me that all the 3 warp glitches ie. Prison skip, Pelicon fight/Sister chase "Return to Title" and Walrus GO warp, are caused by the same programming flaw: a fadeout timer or something similar is misinterpreted as the target level/scene ID when you somehow interrupt the current fadeout with another level/screen transition. However only Walrus GO warp seems unreliable. EDIT2: It turned out to me that all of the warp glitches are resulted from the simple kind of programming error that the "current level" counter (03000B50) gets modified unexpectedly.

I improved 3 parts (Airport, the sucides, and the Walrus fight) in the run. I might submit it soon. EDIT: BTW, is my run actually "game end glitch" instead of "warped any%"?

I know I'm very late for this but... The movie should stay branchless. The movie isn't super duper short enough to guarantee a "warp glitch" branch, or at least that's what I think anyway.

Not to mention there isn't a published full game run anyway. I would welcome it if klmz submits his run sometime. :P

So quick bump, does anyone know if there's any more progress towards making a publishable TAS? I was just curious. I was somewhat debating tinkering with is but it seems like a publication-worthy TAS is close but no one has completed it yet? Unless I'm missing something.

Well VBA has been replaced by BH with that sexy GBA splash to boot, so I'd imagine someone, if not klmz, would have to start from scratch and make a bk2 for it to be not only accurate, but current.

VBA is deprecated but still accepted, I believe.

Bizhawk had an emulation bug in the sea level. I haven't checked since then.

I have reported this bug here, endrift looked into it and later posted about it on his site. But as far as I'm aware, it never got fixed. This bug occurs not only on Bizhawk but on pretty much every emulator. I'm glad you submitted your run!

That bug seems to be quite tricky to fix.

Thanks. I am glad that I managed to improve the Walrus fight.
