It's Clock Tower... for WonderSwan...
since there are no (known) glitches for this game, we revive H ending for submission, although without any of the glitches that made the SNES run fun. This clocks (pun intended) in at 4 minutes, a bit over twice the length of the SNES best TAS time for H ending, due to the lack of glitches and the general slowness of the port.

feos: Judging...
feos: Delaying while improvements are being worked on.
feos: Just like happened with this movie, we have a WIP that shows that this run is quite improvable. But even though we can sometimes publish movies with known improvements, that WIP (unlike the one linked in 3876S) is almost finished. Theoretically, if we accept this submission, that WIP may be finished shortly and submitted just to prove that this run has been bested. Rejecting for sub-optimality.

FINALLY YOU DONE DID THE WONDERSWAN VERSION. MY ENJOYMENT OF PUBLISHING NOTHING BUT CLOCKS RETURNS. I'll assume you're providing the temp encode like you've done in the past. (Edit: So you will be. That's fine still. People can wait a day for you CLOCKS) Blames ruadath for not providing after stating he would. Link to video Anyways, there's WonderClock. Edit 2: Forgot to write this. So... sorry. In the WonderSwan version you can run past Scissorman at his introduction. There's a file somewhere on the site that has this. Issue is I don't know where it is as I wasn't the uploader. ...And I can't find it... Welp... Because it's most likely somewhere on microstorage instead of onsite.

I was going to be lazy and not provide the temp encode, but I can do it if you want (don't expect it to be up until tomorrow)

Man, this version of the game is such a downgrade. You can barely see what's going on in most of the cutscenes because the grey palette makes everything difficult to tell apart. Only question I have is why do you have to get in and out of the car before you can drive away? Voting meh.

Google EZGames, you've been told to use it multiple times for stupid questions. This is intentional by the game. The game kicks you out of the car twice because you're thinking about the others in the building and then second guessing herself followed by basically smashing through the barn doors.

I have looked at the previous submission of this game. I re-read it a bunch of times. But I still didn't understand. Which is why I'm asking.

I've started to explore the game. There are many potential tricks: - Running past scissorman: don't know how to yet, but with poking X position I can repel and then parry, making scissorman lie on the floor for a few seconds - Movie can be started 24 frames earlier (first S) - Doors are faster to get over by pressing B to optimize X position and pressing A at a specific frame while moving the cursor to the opposite side, so she make a little turn while opening the door (~80 frames save?) - Cursor position are saved after leaving each room, so you need to manuver it back before the next room starts (24 frames save before scissorman at least) - You can enter front doors (which this movie won't make use of)... but walk into walls? You need to move your cursor somewhere bottom after opening the door and pressing A at a specific frame I don't have a single movie with all the lists incorporated but will upload it once I get the running past scissorman trick legit. edit: earlier start, faster doors, cursor position -> http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/45727147747873952 I intend to optimize it until the end and then asking for coauthor-ship if that's ok for you, ruadath.

Cool with me, if I don't make any improvements to what is already there you can just take sole authorship.

I'm fine with both. Your TAS made it easier to try these things. Faster door: no need to press B only to fine tune x position, which we dont need here. We press A in opposite direction to skip the girls door handle animation Pause: a bit buggy. Pausing and unpausing before taking control teleports our cursor to a specific place, seems to be room dependent. I can just hope, that pausing will help in scissorman skipping. edit: minor brainstorming regarding scissorman: - you can use the cursor to select the stair after gaining control after scissorman introduction. going there ends with death - you need to be within a specific gap to parry and repel scissorman after introduction. the first position is 60 right as he falls down (starting position is 144, if we could get just a little bit of earlier control, we could be exactly at that position sincs 12px is the unit of 1 running movement) edit2: - if your position is 61 (poked it, cause 72 is our achievable position), you need to go right first. simply going left will kill you. This is somewhat strange, as this also works when I freeze the value. No matter how I tried, moving back and forth with even cancelling (B) didn't helped me. - parry and repel (the panic button that missing in this version) is done by spamming A, no other button helps in this situation. latest movie User movie #45796835139772643 edit3: - after countless tests, I see some inconsistency, that is I could poke 72 but sometimes I can repel and parry and in other state I can't. The difference between my states is 1. original tas 2. my 3rd wip 3. my 5th wip 4. continue after death 5. "RTA" (no tastudio just playing the game). I guess I start optimizing those 1-2 lag frame saves and hope for a random earlier controlling opportunity. edit4: mednafen 1.21.1 / 0.9.48 tests (freshly installed, zero configuration) AND Mame64 0.195b: - quick start doesnt works, the game doesn't progresses after fade out and sound effect played. on the same vein, the game doesn't progresses any other ways... hmm... 01A5 - 0200 - D073 Oswan 1.73 (2007!): - quick start works, everything behaves like wonderswan. there aren't many TASing tools, so I don't know about loading time differences / lag frames etc.

Should I delay this submission? Or is it better to reject/cancel and wait for a more optimized submission? I don't think I can accept it when a 10-second improvement is already there.

I think you should cancel it, votes would be reset and some people may change their position on the movie.

If I do it, it'd be a rejection. The author might prefer to cancel it instead.

I'm fine with just amending the movie in-place and adding MESHUGGAH as a co-author; the game is still pretty boring, and I don't think that the ~10 seconds of time save is going to change anyone's vote from Meh to Yes. Even I voted Meh on my own submission here. I'll be looking at improvements over this weekend but if I don't come up with anything now I'm probably not going to look at this again for a long time.

At least you're honest...?

There's nothing wrong with finding your own work unentertaining. Regardless of how much a TASer may try to inject entertainment through the TASing process, some games simply don't offer much in terms of entertainment value. Some of us also feel that the archival of fastest-known runs regardless of entertainment value is a worthwhile endeavor and just as important as archival of entertaining runs.

It's more just straight up saying you think your own work is boring but eh this is getting off topic.

I voted meh for my Valentine's fool on Harvest Moon too because it was very repetitive but I think there isn't any fastest way. For me, a meh vote is no entertainment other than speed. I think ruadath is honest with himself if he puts a meh vote on his own submission :).

feos: I'm still unable to get past scissorman no matter how many new tests and new rules I found that can't be exploited. Since I will probably finish it alone, I don't want to hurry it and rather examine more. So the only thing holding me is accepting my fate of not reproducing the glitch compared to the number of failed tests. Whichever happens earlier will be the reason for submitting the movie. edit: obviously not having a trace logger is the biggest problem for me. edit2: note to myself, maybe higan has a debugger or some sort of, lets hope for being able to load the first room. edit3: higan has no debugger but loads the first room. garbled textures. cygne 2.1a also doesn't loads up the first room. So I'm technically stucked on not having any debugger tool apart from what BizHawk can offer me (ram search).

Is anyone planning to work on this anytime soon? Rumor about scissorman skip hasn't been confirmed so far.

Since it looks like no one is actively working on this can we at least judge/publish meshuggahs version? Should we restore this thread or resubmit?
