Since there is now a seperate section for hacks in the movie file listings there should be a seperate section in the forum as well.

I think the Hack rule SHOULD be forced, allowing no hacked games on the site. What is the point? You cant get credit at SDA or TG for it if you speedrun. Most of them you can not tell what is going on(Air). so IMO, i think the rule saying "No Hacked Games" should be brought back, with NO more exceptions. [EDIT] That was my thought before i knew about the extra section. Then i agree, to get the hacked topics out of the real nes/snes threads.

I don't have a lot of experience with hacked games, but based on what I know, I strongly disagree that Air is your typical hack.

I think the best way to do this would be to have a subforum within each main console forum. That way, threads about non-licensed games (whether hacks or full homebrew) would still be categorized within the proper console, but not mixed in with all the licensed games that the site focuses on. Alternately, if one doesn't want actual subforums, you could just interleave them on the main forum index - have "Licensed NES games", "Hacked/homebrew NES games", "Licensed SNES games", etc.

Personally, I don't think that is too important, because we aren't "competing" (at least, I'm not) with the runs on those sites, as they are played without tools, and are testing a different set of skills. I always viewed it as - if the result from TASing a hacked game is entertaining, then it is worthy of being published. This rule would catch most bad hacks as well, since it is generally not possible to make an entertaining movie out of a bad hack, although I'm sure there are exceptions, and would still allow otherwise good TASs onto the site. Because of this double-edged sword approach to hacked games, I am glad that they are still given permission on a case-by-case basis. I'm also glad there is a separate section for hacked movies, and I agree that it would make sense to create a separate section for hacked games in the forums as well.

I think there are more than enough forums already without dedicating another new forum to hacks.
