Game objectives
  • Emulator used: FCEUX 2.2.2
  • Fastest win
  • Score 1 point
  • Humiliate the opposing team
I'll probably put a encode here.
Maybe some comments as well.
Maybe.
Maybe not.
April Fools! ;P

slamo: This was submitted at a very serendipitous time. At the original time of submission, team sports games weren't allowed in the Vault, and since this isn't quite entertaining enough to get to Moons, it would have been rejected on those grounds. Thanks to a completely unrelated submission, the Vault rules were recently adjusted to allow any sports game that has a game mode that could have a non-trivial speedrun. Since this game doesn't run on a fixed timer, and the RNG presents a real optimization challenge, this game is actually Vault eligible now.
However, there is another reason to reject this run. As was pointed out in the thread, the bottom of the 9th inning could have been skipped if you had played as the home team, which is a serious optimization flaw. Rejecting.

I'm actually thinking of doing a Wii Sports Baseball version of this. ...I just need to learn how to use dolphin's motion control stuff. Yay.
Hello! I recently got into TASing, about Dec. 2018, but never completed one until 2019-03-29. (2 Player Co-op Quest) ----------------------------------------------------- On my workbench: Nothing ATM

Interested to know how this is optimal. Playing the home team and being ahead after the top of the ninth would prevent having to play the bottom of the ninth. Also, there are balls thrown which seem unnecessary. I know it's an April Fools submission, but it should still be optimal.

Balls were thrown because of bad luck mainly. No matter how much I tried to manipulate the luck, the ball would've either missed my bat completely, or it would've resulted in a foul ball, which is far slower than deliberately missing the ball.

Cutting the bottom of the 9th is definitely worth looking at as an improvement. Otherwise I thought there was some good variety in the outs, the catcher even picks up a bunt and chases down the runner at one point. I gave it a yes vote

Does this game have a mercy rule? I think that would make a better objective for a submission for this game...

I seem to remember that the batter can move around in the box. If so, can that affect how you hit the ball?
A hundred years from now, they will gaze upon my work and marvel at my skills but never know my name. And that will be good enough for me.

As far as I can tell, there's no mercy rule in this game. I've even tried to look it up online, and nothing.

Unfortunately you can't. The only way you can "aim" where the ball is hit is your timing of hitting it. As it stands, this game is very...primitive. EDIT: If this run somehow gets accepted, I guess I can change the submission comments, if needed.

I hope it was obvious to everyone that I didn't take this one seriously. I plan to release a couple in the future that I tried my hardest to do.
