Hey, months ago kaan55 told me how I can made a 2-players movie in a game. Thank you so much! And thanks to this community too.
I want to share here my first 2-players TAS Movie that I really finished. This game is Sonic 2 Advanced Edit... despite being an unfinished game, the playable levels are good!
Consider it a "just for fun" TASing, because this game is not good for a submission:

The sad thing about it is that the classic Sonic 1 levels are way too short for such “fast has hell” hacks — you’ll be mostly watching the score screens and level transitions. So, for me it would be nice to try such physics in significally longer stages, like in Megamix, Sonic Boom or something like that.

Wait, you say there is a path swapper?
In my Amy@S3K TAS, I go there just because it’s faster than dropping down one more level inside the wall. I trigger the path swapper earlier, in the loop before the MHZ1 boss fight.
This probably means that my MHZ1 can be improved by not triggering that path swapper in the loop and instead using the one later. How do you think?

I assume you meant to quote my text for MHZ2.
In any case there’s a screenshot of that pathswapper in my submission text. You can only see it in debug if you have sprites layered on top.
Yeah using the one in act 2 would most definitely be faster. Amy has to wait for the red spring to load like Sonic does doesn’t she? You’d literally only save time in Act 1 and maybe save some frames in Act 2 by doing this.
Alrighty, so... I am new here at TASVideos. I’ve made some TASes, but the one thing I ask is what is the best way to control 2 players? Like, what to set their controls.
Hey, welcome ! (says the dead one)
Huh, it's not about controls, i also made this mistake when i first started TASing, but you actually can use the same controls for both players since you don't actually record both at same time (except if you want to). It is known as "multitrack recording", you can toggle them with ctrl+shift+1 for player 1 and ctrl+shift+2 for player 2.
Gens also support a third controller if you are recording in 3 buttons mode, it could be a really cool feature for Sonic Classic Heroes but it doesn't seem like it is that useful :/
Thx man, and yeah it works but i doubt i don't think that it will actually "save time" in comparison to a "1 player switching character" mode.
Huh, be careful with the savestates, you can accidentally "remove" the input by loading a "wrong" one.
So that means, what savestate should I make to keep the inputs? I normally make a save that has the start of Green Hill on it, then I switch to another slot so I save throughout the zone.
Never mind all of that! I have successfully created a 3 player TAS
in Sonic Classic Heroes using tracks! I did better with player 3 than with player 2...
Here's the gmv if you want to play around with it!

Emulator: Gens11a.
Change your controller settings to teamplayer.
I might be obsessed so if this is getting repetitive, I'll stop. Just tell me.
But anyways, here's the newest 3P movie of SCH.
Here's the gmv and the savestate for the movie (it's necessary to play the movie) in this folder!
TAS
Yeah, that's nice, i haven't watched your movie yet but i suggest you to upload your gmv files to http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php and make sure to do so when you think people might be interested in your lastest production.
Use the lastest version of Gens-rr, that means 11b if you look on the forum carefully. Because everyone uses Gens 11b and because we are receiving enough complaints for using an "under-accurate" emulator, please at least keep it up to date :p
Also, since we are talking about tools, make sure to visit this thread if you haven't, it is a really useful one if you are getting started, along with the basic knowledge on Sonic games that you can gather by watching submissions and reading this page.
Don't upload every single WIP you do, there is so much to improve on most romhacks :p. Each frame improvement is something you'll see on Sonic 1, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles because they are way too optimized already, but on romhacks it's not worth it to post a 5 frames improvement on 1 level :) Nobody will watch them, and if it is really an important improvement, then you can simply edit your post, switch the link and add
"Edit : even faster now !" xD
Last thing, because i'm really annoying, people don't like to watch movies with savestates (for several reasons), so just record from beginning even if you have to enter a level selection code, or you can dump the avi (or record it) and upload it to youtube, easier for everyone to see, even for people that are not at home or that do not TAS.

Meanwhile, I’ve done a new attempt at TASing GHZ1 in that crazy-fast Sonic Genesis, and got 0:10.14. Who knows, probably 0:09 is also possible. Anyway, it’s just too short to show, so, I’ll probably share it if I do some more acts/stages.

Here it is. Most stages are improved by at least 1 in-game second, except the SLZ, which I just copy-pasted from BahnDaten.
I can’t really explain why I was lazy to TAS this particular zone and not any others.
Link to videoUpdate: somehow I missed that it's possible to skip the score counts :( I'll probably fix it sometime later, my apologies for that :(

Oh, it was really nice, but i don't get why you took damages in SYZ2, doesn't look like it saved time to me (i probably missed something), just by curiosity :D

I wasn’t able to pass through that place fast enough without taking damage at all, and taking damage was faster than jumping over that flying thing and charging a new spindash.

Sonic Classic Heroes again, except this time, I did a full game 100% run! Now, I’m not sure if I should submit it to the site, because I saw Zekann’s Sonic Classic Heroes Team Super Sonic runs, the game’s development was canceled, I don’t use every glitch in history (in fact, I only use two glitches, and that’s the level wrap in Metropolis 2 and the zip in Labyrinth 2) and this is Team Sonic. It’s never been done before, but I’m just gonna play it safe... for now.
Anyways, with all that mumbo-jumbo aside, here it is!

Only just started watching so I can't quote for it's quality yet. But as of the first few minutes into the run you enter a special stage - it would be much more beneficial and entertaining if you manipulated all 3 players to gain rings in them. As the score countdown will go a lot faster if the rings are divided between all 3 players. As you can see here in a scrapped run; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p4pL_356P8
[Edit]
And this is why I should've kept watching before I made that comment. You have the capability to skip the score count, and it's all combined into one anyway. Redundant message is redundant. Sorry to have bothered you!
[/Edit]
Um, yeah! That would be fun to see three players collecting some rings! By the way, the score counts skip by themselves (if you got the GMV and turned on Input Display, you could see that).
Thank you very much!!
