I actually figured out the real issue. What I did was stop the movie recording and not pressing frame advance to "apply" it. Stupid me.. I'm running pspkvm to run ratchet and clank going mobile. going well..

Nice to see an update! As for tas feature ideas, how about when starting audio/video recording, it would record until you make a save state, for which a new video audio file is made, and every time you load the save state, the new video audio file gets replaced. That way we can just easily combine the video audio files with windows movie maker. No need to edit the videos or use tedious other means.

So how close are we now to getting a rr emulator? Lots of exciting games available to TAS on PSP...

Not much closer, it's a lot harder than I anticipated, also with lack of time to work on it.

I was curious if there was any progress on the TASing end of PPSSPP. I've been following the boards for some time, and I hope that progress can be continued.

I think the project is discontinued, sadly.

Apparently this is still (once again?) actively developed. The current stable version is 1.8.0, and the latest git commit was made today. Versions released since the last post in this thread have some beefy changelogs, too. I ran a couple demos on it using default settings, and only saw what appeared to be minor emulation artifacts in either (the first had some issues with effect timing in a couple spots, and the other some issues with a glow effect). I'd consider it pretty good. Judging by the multitude of YouTube videos, commercial games run fine...-ish? Anyway, that's it for now.

Has anyone noticed ppsspp has input recording now? https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/pull/12153 Its goal is for debugging reasons and to reproduce crashes and whatnot(he has explicitly said its not meant for tas), but its not too far away. I guess all thats needed now is frame counter and to save the frame counter. RTC would be a problem too.

Great news, thanks! There is a menu option or hotkeys to test this in PPSSPP?

I dont know. Because its not meant for tas, save states maybe included in the input file. So dont get too excited.

https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/pull/13946 Now that's more for tasing. It's a debugger that could used for tas. PPSSPP has an api now which could be used to make tas tools easier.

More unintended tas work: https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp/pull/14493 You would have to write a tool in python with the api, but I don't know how to make that happen.. Whats next is integration with save states and rewind. Still excited to be able to use a controller paired with rewind for tasing psp games!
