I need help setting up Bizhawk 2.4. When I open TAStudio, I get the error "GBA load error" it says "A core accepted the rom, but threw an exception while loading it." I am running on windows 8.1. If you have any recommendations please let me know thanks

Do you have the GBA bios in your firmware folder?

Yes I have. Mod edit: Removed ROM site name.

I made the thread title more descriptive. Also make sure—both now and in the future—that you state the BizHawk version and the core you're using (BizHawk has two GBA cores). Also don't mention any ROM sites (this is a very strict rule and you will not be warned again).

Ok thank you for the update. Sorry about the rule break. I updated my post to show v2.4 but I don't know what core I am using

Bottom of the bizhawk window should say either VBA-Next or mGBA. See which one it says.

Have you already installed the latest prerequisite installer? https://github.com/TASVideos/BizHawk-Prereqs/releases
my personal page - my YouTube channel - my GitHub - my Discord: thunderaxe31 <Masterjun> if you look at the "NES" in a weird angle, it actually clearly says "GBA"

Yes, I have installed the prereq. I installed the prereq after bizhawk because I did not know about the prereq until this morning. Is that a problem?

I have found the problem. The GBA bios I downloaded was in a folder. as soon as I moved it out I was able to run it fine. Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate the help
