  • Emulator used: Famtasia 5.10 patched
Lolo 3 is the awesome conclusion to the nintendo Lolo series. With 100 levels, plus bosses, this was quite a fun time attack. I'll be honest, it isn't too interesting for the first 20 minutes, with the easy levels and all. But the movie really picks up afterwards.
The objective of each level is to get all of the Heart Framers, which in turn, opens up the treasure chest. When you get the jewel inside, the door to the next level opens.
In some levels, there are powers which, after picking up a certain number of Hearts, activate. These powers include:
  • Hammer (destroys rocks)
  • Bridge (creates a bridge over water; will disintegrate after a short period of time if used on lava)
  • Arrow (turns an arrow tile 90 degrees to the right)
You can't pass over arrows if you are trying to go the opposite direction of the arrow.
I block the Medusas with EFs (Emerald Framers, those green blocks), because you will get killed if you cross their unblocked line of sight. Same goes with the Don Medusas, only they're mobile.
I pull off some crazy things, and abuse the Medusa North/West glitch to save a couple of seconds. There are times when I have to pause, in order to not get killed by Don Medusas and such.

Bisqwit: In trust to Baxter's judgement I'm rejecting this submission.

Famtasia? Just when I thought I could finally delete that thing. Fine, I'll load it up. <grumble grumble> (BTW, I'm not the one who voted No)

Heh, if only. It's the only emulator that actually causes my mouse curser to constantly lag and sometimes freeze for a few seconds. Awful emulator :(

Works fine for me. Anyway... Good GOD, is there really only like -one- tune in that game? X.x Gah... The game isn't easy on the ears, is it? Thankfully, the playing itself seemed fine. There were a few random oddities, though. Like sometimes pushing an object all the way into a Medusa/Don Medusa/etc's field of view rather than giving a half-push. I assume there was a reason, though. And what's with the little bumps in the underwater stages to make those horrifyingly green whale things squeak? O_O Those things are gonna be in my nightmares now.

Same here. Although, I didn't have that problem when i did this run way back when...like 1/2 months ago. I just never got around to submitting it.

I don't think so... I've only watched up through Level 5, but I've already seen way too many obvious mistakes to vote Yes.

Can you explain what these mistakes are? I'm curious to know.

First of all... I think it's great you did this. Very nice to see someone pay interest in this game. Some time ago Bag of Magic Food and I worked on a run for this game, but we stopped because it would take far too long to make a complete run of this game. I also only watched up to level 5-2, since that is where I came in my run. Lolo seems easy to speedrun, since you only have 4 directions you can go, and have to shoot once in a while. You would think it's not fit to speedrun, but as said beneath the Lolo 1 submission: "Lolo is a puzzle game, but surprisingly not trivial for speedrunning." The reason for this is that it seems kind of hard to find the fastest route in the game, and it takes ALOT of time. Explaining your mistakes up to 5-2 would take too much (at least for me). Here's a list of what levels can be improved (up to 5-2). 1-5 2-1 2-3 2-4 2-5 3-1 3-3 3-4 3-5 3-6 3-7 3-8 3-9 3-10 4-1 4-2 4-3 4-4 4-5 4-6 5-1 5-2 These are the levels you called "easy levels and all". So I think the list will go on in the "harder" levels. You also don't seem to frame perfect it, use FCEU instead. In the overworld you could take some turns faster, and the boss fight is a lot easier using frame advance. I once produced something similar like this, because I was curious of all levels. It was about just as fast as this, but it was a walkthrough... and I think this is more of a walkthrough than a speedrun aswell. Speedrunning this would take a ridiculous amount of time.

I think Baxter's comment concludes this submission's fate.
