Hamtaro is my childhood. I loved anime :) I'm back to RTA recently because I found new route for RTA. Then, I'm wondering if I can improve my unsubmitted TAS [dead link removed] and tried. Here's the result.

Comments

route

This game doesn't have any glitch to my knowledge so the route is just going to places for learning ham-word and bringing other hams back to Clubhouse in general.

Noticeable save/lost time

I saved a few in many places but I'm lazy :p and hard to see them. Let's just list big time differences.

Opening

I lost 18 frames here due to different emu. I used VBA-rr for old run. This happened in some places too.

Clubhouse

Hamtaro goes to back here whenever he brings other ham. There's nothing to do in any% though.

Sunflower Park (2nd visit)

To beat this game, I need 76 seeds minimal. Digging minigame is best way to collect them. In old run, I talked in front of clerk ham. Instead I talked him from left side in this run. This led to cut waiting frames for digging 30 seeds in 1st move (might be as well as 2nd one too). 38 frames saved.

Ruins (2nd visit)

I have to get Shogun Wig because Cappy is bad ham. Wig is the prize from Tack-Q Bowling game. To get this prize, getting 140 or more points in this game. I hit balls in order of middle, right, left in old. I found hitting left, middle, right was possible. 60 frames saved in spite of 19 extra lag frames.

Sunflower Market

It's similar improvements in Sunflower Park. Talking Scoop ham from left side after grabbing her bag avoids Hamtaro's walking left. 11 frames saved.
I saved 127 frames in total. I saved rest frames from many small movement optimizations. This TAS looks longer than old but it's not true. It comes from different fps between BizHawk and VBA-rr.

Special Thanks

ISMin for his TAS which has completed route already. I didn't need to think the route thanks to him lol

feos: Accepting to Vault.

I am satisfied to see that you have TASed that! Rest more than to submit your TAS of Super Mario RPG "100%". Yes vote.

http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/info/64935968987864315 6 years later, I came back to this and improved about 5s with latest version of bizhawk. I only corrected 1 wrong answer in department and that's all improvement. I won't make encode or submit when it's 99.9% same as published tas visually.

Why not? I think it's worth submitting, especially if you used the console verification mode for the new version.

As you mentioned, I remembered seeing submissions with small changes before. I'm not like refusing to submit but just thought it's not worth. I guess I'll submit without encoding since I said run was almost identical visually.

Don't even have to write up much of a submission text. "This is what's different. OK bye!"
[16:36:31] <Mothrayas> I have to say this argument about robot drug usage is a lot more fun than whatever else we have been doing in the past two+ hours
[16:08:10] <BenLubar> a TAS is just the limit of a segmented speedrun as the segment length approaches zero
