This game, also known as Rockman World (ロックマンワールド), is the first of a GB series of Mega Man games. The Game Boy series is a little different from the NES series in that there are only four Robot Masters to fight at the start.
Those four are borrowed from the NES game of the same number, while four more Robot Masters from the next NES game guard Dr. Wily’s fortress.
Game Boy Wily also likes to have a backup fortress in space after his first one is beaten. Another recurring concept in the Game Boy games is a ninth robot boss unique to the game who gives you a new weapon that is usually the only weapon effective against the final boss.

Game objectives

Comments

In this run Tremane mostly improved the y-subpixel values and certain x-positions

Starup

Due to the new core the Nintendo Logo consumes 334 frames before the games starts

Cutman

Tremane improved the conveyor belt/cutting wheel section by 4 frames and gained additionally 2 lagframes in the stage

Elecman

Tremane spawned the Kaminari Goro ealier which saved a huge amount of 21 frames
Also the silence after the stage is caused by throwing a cutter at the right frame
what happens is that the cutter sound value in addresse "1B42" 2-Byte Unsigned gets overridden and the _Get Weapon music_ can't play

Iceman

New strat for damage boosting at the end of the stage has been implemented saving several frames

Fireman

An improved elecbeam section has been implemented saving a few frames

Wily 1

The Molesection has been improved and also the Re-Fights have been improved - mostly less laggy fights

Wily 2

1 Frame could be saved by improving the ladder-section
here is the frametable:
Stage name Frames total
Startup +334 +334
Cutman Stage -6 +328
Elecman Stage -26 +302
Iceman Stage -9 +293
Fireman Stage -6 +287
Wily Basestation -18 +269
Quickman fight -3 +266

Heatman fight -10 +241
Enker fight -1 +240
Spaceship Wily 2 -1 +239
Total 95

Thanks

to Noxxa for being the absolut best in helping out - really I mean it!
I suggest frame 9976 as screenshot

Console-Verification

here is the userfile for Console-Verification thanks to EZGames69 for this

Memory: Judging
Memory: Optimization appears solid. It was pointed out where the gameplay improvements were, showing this is faster by gameplay than [3502] GB Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge by Noxxa & Tremane in 16:56.52, regardless of emulator differences.
There wasn't a ton of feedback here but what was present was fairly positive. The current publication has decent ratings as well.
ThunderAxe31: File replaced for a corrected CycleCount value in the header.txt. All inputs, sync settings, and anything else is unchanged.
feos: Replaced the movie with the one that's been console verified so we don't have to keep both files around (I got Moth's approval on that).
ThunderAxe31: Correcting CycleCount again and restoring previous rerecordCount.
fsvgm777: Processing.
Also changed the system to GBC, as it's effectively run on GBC now.

Why is the GB bios being shown when there are colored graphics? Did you colorize the encode or does it run on emulator that way? If so then this is an error.

It does not run in the emulator this way, it's likely a filter.

I like to have color when I speedrun and TAS that's why i enabled a color-pallet for this temp-encode

It works fine if you click on the link and watch in a new tab, but it is broken on the actual submission page. how did you format your youtube module?

you disabled video embedding. go on youtube studio and edit the setting for that video.
my personal page - my YouTube channel - my GitHub - my Discord: thunderaxe31 <Masterjun> if you look at the "NES" in a weird angle, it actually clearly says "GBA"

Since this movie was re-adjusted for the purpose of console verification (AKA making it run in GBC in GBA mode and adjusting some of the inputs due to different lag), is it possible to add both the file for the original GB and the console verification file in the publication? Or should the verification file replace the GB one in this submission? (Verification syncs in 2.4)

As far as the actual run looks, the changes are mostly too minor for me to notice without watching this alongside the previous movie. However, nice job with minor optimizations, especially getting lag out of a GB game!
Used to be a frequent submissions commenter. My new computer has had some issues running emulators, so I've been here more sporadically. Still haven't gotten around to actually TASing yet... I was going to improve Kid Dracula for GB. It seems I was beaten to it, though, with a recent awesome run by Hetfield90 and StarvinStruthers. (http://tasvideos.org/2928M.html.) Thanks to goofydylan8 for running Gargoyle's Quest 2 because I mentioned the game! (http://tasvideos.org/2001M.html) Thanks to feos and MESHUGGAH for taking up runs of Duck Tales 2 because of my old signature! Thanks also to Samsara for finishing a Treasure Master run. From the submission comments:
Shoutouts and thanks to mklip2001 for arguably being the nicest and most supportive person on the forums.

Since the console-verified movie is also shorter, I'd prefer full replacement. Having 2 movies per publication is not yet an officially supported feature, but a database hack.

It's only shorter because the GBC bios is shorter compared to the GB bios.

Either way, console verification is a valid reason, as well as the other on I mentioned.

What's the verification setup? Did any input have to be tweaked?

The movie file is the exact same as the one provided in the movie submission text. I used GBISR with some tweaks (mostly involving using the GBC color matrix and making it use 10:9, purely cosmetic and doesn't affect the actual GBC). I guess I should also point out I used a flash cart (it's not an SD card based on, in essence it's a JPN Pokemon Gold cart with its ROM chip swapped out with a flashable chip, so it has all the typical hardware a typical GB/C cart has like SRAM and a real MBC)... I guess I should point out Rockman used the MBC1, and my cart has an MBC3 chip, but they're mostly backwards compatible anyways barring extreme edge cases (none apply)... and this flash cart is the same one used in TCG2/Silver/DK94/Pinocchio verifications, the former two have gotten the checkmark (and I've been cleared I used a flash cart) so I assume it's okay anyways.

Discussion regarding the usage of GBC mode for GB movies has been split and moved to here: Thread #22230: GB movies in GBC mode (split from 6723S)
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.
