Let's run through this stage by stage, shall we?
Stage 1
- Flawless. I can't see any room for improvement here. There was never
an instance where you stopped running, and not a shot was wasted as far as I can
tell.
Stage 1 Boss
- Again, flawless.
Stage 2
- Creative use of temporary invounerability during the first drop area. Nicely
done.
- I saw some slowdown on your part taking out one of those hovering tank things
after the second elevator. It looks to me like you could've jumped over the
second one just as easily.
- I dunno about that damage you hopping up those stairs shortly after, either. .
. You could've made a brief turn and opened fire on the gun thing with three
barrels on its turret. . . I think.
Stage 2 Boss
- Effective dispatch of the war machine.
Stage 3
- I saw a brief delay at the beginning of the first area here. Then again, it
was probably better than taking damage and giving yourself another half-second
of delay.
- Near the end of the stage(before the last lift), I notice you took a little
extra time between shots against the big robot thing.(Like, it took twice as
long to take down.) Why?
- I also notice in the area after that, there's a bit of game lag. Not your
fault, but you could perhaps have tried harder to rectify that by nuking more
enemies?
Stage 3 Boss
- How do you defeat a giant computer core with laser beams and turrets? Why,
ten easy rockets to the glass-covered "brain," of course! Done flawlessly.
Stage 4
- Was it really necessary to take the damage from that second spikey obstacle?
Looked like a clear path from then on, to me. . .
- Same question goes towards the second "weight" on the next floor down. . .
You could've just as easily turned around and opened fire on that blue thingy, I
would figure. In fact, you do on the blue thingy near the tall robot. .
.
- Next floor up, again you take what looks like an unnecessary hit from one of
those spikey platform obstacles.
Stage 4 Boss
- No real complaints here. . . But my question is this. Do both the rockets
you fire actually do damage, or just one? If just one does damage, then you're
wasting Gun Power which, in the end, costs you more time after the level.
Otherwise, nine hits? That's an odd number.(Literally.)
Final Stage
- Auto-scroll stages suck.(Not a critique, just a comment.)
- Interesting use of collision detection bugs to show off. Also good job on completely bypassing the upward crusher things.(The ones that would shove you into the electrical fields in the ceiling.)
Final Stage Boss
- Don'cha just hate it when bosses are auto-scroll styled, too?!
- I noticed you were able to get three hits with the Rocket Launcher in one of the jumps at the back of the ship. If you could do this on a regular basis, you'd save yourself a lot more time.
Final Stage Final Boss
Should This Movie Be Published?: No.
Reasoning for My Vote: Well. . . This is an improvement on Dan's work, sure. But there's a lot of places that could use improvement. I'm certain with a little more practice and timing, you(or someone else) could widdle this thing down to maybe 10:20. Possibly even 10:00 flat. But don't quote me on that.
Comments? Critique?: As I said, you were able to get three hits on occasion. If you could do that on every boss/enemy/whatever, you could cut down on a bit of time. More so.
Anything Else?: Nicely done, but I dunno. I wasn't terribly impressed by it, even in contrast to Dan's run.
