Glitches used

  • Seadramon Jesus fishing: a glitch to warp on the middle of the lake and make the fishing section of the game easier.
  • Ice Sanctuary Type Skip: To get inside Ice Sanctuary without Digimon type restriction.
No game restart but, there is a game load after credits to finish post-game 100 prosperity

Aims

  • Get all recruitable Digimon to the city to get 100 Prosperity as fast as possible.
  • Use TAS starts that are not realistic to use on an actual speedrun.
  • This TAS does not intend to be faster than the speedrun world record, because of PS1 loading times being slower than PS2.

Description of the game

You get teleported to a digital world where digital monsters exist but, almost everyone has left the city you got teleported. the goal is to recruit everyone back to the city to get 100 prosperity points.

Making of the movie

There were a few points (listed below) where I couldn't find an RNG manip that was faster, so it may see not optimal but it ended being faster, so I decided to go with this
  • Slots, in some cases, waiting for a slot and get it on the second pass was faster, fewer catchups for RNG manipulation to get the next slot training
  • Union recruit textboxes are not optimal on purpose, because the game drops inputs every some amount of frames if the text box input were optimal it would cause a frame needed for RNG manipulation to be unusable.
  • After shopping, before Union there are few movements where the main character stops moving, this is intended for RNG manipulation. If happiness < 50, every 10 seconds the game checks for butterfly making the RNG advance, can be skipped entering a screen at 9th second

CasualPokePlayer: Fixed branch name, and judging...
CasualPokePlayer: Updated branch name from "No Major Glitches" to "no memory corruption" to clarify the kind of glitches avoided for this run.
CasualPokePlayer: Optimization seems acceptable at a glance, only particular issue I've noted is not resetting to skip the credits, but given the length and complexity of this run, that isn't particularly rejection worthy. The goal choice does seem acceptable, if disregarding entertainment factors. However, this goal choice is unacceptable for the Vault, and with very negative votes (10% 0/1/4) and no feedback posts, this cannot be accepted to Moons.
Rejected for not qualifying for the Moons tier.

This is an interesting submission. Optimization seems good, the only immediately questionable part is not resetting to skip the credits, although it doesn't retract this from being a speed record in comparison to RTA's NMG runs and isn't particularly bad in the grand scope of the entire run. The main problem I'm seeing with this is simply the "no memory corruption" part of the branch. This restriction ends up extending the run by around an hour, and there is already an RTA run with the memory corruption glitches this TAS avoids, so in no way can this TAS be accepted to the Vault under full completion (it does not beat RTA records). So, for acceptance, this TAS must be able to go into Moons. And I'll be honest, I'm not exactly seeing that here. There have been no replies so far and just 2 No votes. Of course, this is an RPG, so I can perhaps expect somewhat a lackluster response. I would like some more feedback before making a decision on this movie.

What do those corruption glitches used by RTA consist in?
my personal page - my YouTube channel - my GitHub - my Discord: thunderaxe31 <Masterjun> if you look at the "NES" in a weird angle, it actually clearly says "GBA"

From what I understand, it refers to the same glitches used in the published Any% TAS, which allows for a glitch shop which can corrupt various places in memory, which can also be used to wrong warp all over the place. Wrong warping with the glitch would be the primary time save, since you can just warp to anywhere you need to go recruit the Digimon to get to 100 Prosperity Points.

It seems pretty sad that this can't be acceptable without being entertaining enough - maybe one to revisit following the completion of 'Vault Expansion Discussion'.
