This is a 48 frame improvement of my previous TAS. In this run I fixed some sloppy mistakes and find some new strategies.
Stage 1: I saved 3 frames at the boss fight. The first stream of bullets starts earlier. I also managed to find a way to get rid of one unintentional miss in the third stream.
Stage 2: I saved 1 frame at the boss fight. I changed the way of hitting shields at the beginning of the fight to have a better position later in order to finish off the right and middle shield faster.
Stage 3: I saved 4 frames in this level. Cleared out the mistake at the moving platform at the end of the level. I guess this is already known, but this platform has a cycle from the moment it spawns. For 3 frames it moves and stops for 1 frame. In order not to be moved in the direction in which the platform is moving, the jump must be made at the moment when the platform stops. I managed to spawn the platform at the exact frame to make the jump without waiting. This and improvements in the previous levels allowed me to save the framerule.
Stage 4: I saved 30 frames in this level. Saved 1 frame at the second room, 2 frames at the third room and the rest at the boss fight. Through the use of new tactics, both phases of the boss fight have been improved.
Stage 5: I saved 1 frame at the boss fight.
Stage 6: Same.
Stage 7: I saved 5 frames in this level. Cleared out the mistake at the spikewalls at the start of the level and saved 2 frames here. It's better to wait at the first wall and jump to the second instead of jumping over the second wall. One less pause usage saved another 2 frames. And 1 frame was saved at the boss fight.
Stage 8: I saved 4 frames in this level. Cleared out the mistake after the first boss fight. If you jump right before the eggs disappear you can save 2 frames. At the second boss fight I changed the jumping to save another 2 frames.

feos: Confirmed the improvements. Accepting over [4409] NES Contra (Japan) "1 player" by alex_ik in 08:49.44.

Link to video 720p60 HD encode Nice improvement, yes vote.
I like to comment on submissions and look around the site. You have probably seen me before (if you have been around for a while) either on the site, Discord, or any other social media. I recently took up making temporary encodes for new submissions. Also, I never forget to greet Tompa wherever I find him! "when resyncing stuff sucks it's called Resuccing" - EZGames69 “If an emulator stops being accepted to the site it should be called an emuLAMEr” - EZGames69 "oh no discord, everything I say will now be logged forever, sdfsdf, time to hide" - Masterjun "just had to give therapy to a taxi with daddy issues" - psx Current Projects: Mother 3 (75% complete)

I can only repeat myself. I am amazed how this game still sees improvements after all these years. Excellent work, and yes vote.

I share the same sentiment. It is amazing to see that this game is still being cut. I finally decided to watch this Contra TAS, side-by-side to the current WR. I really don't follow this game, in terms of technical details...so I'm a bit confused on how you are able to skip the end screen of each stage. I looked at the history of this "1 Player" category, and it looks like you accomplish this over Genisto in your previous attempt. I wasn't able to find anything on this in the submissions. Would you mind explaining how this was accomplished? oh, btw yes vote! :)
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing. SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real? ---- Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX

It's because Genisto's TAS was played on the US version. The Japanese version of the game uses skippable cutscenes instead of the transition screen like in the US version.
