The unasked-for sequel to the Family Feud TAS, now with less N-words! This time around, a fourth round is also played, made possible by some multiplayer shenanigans and intentionally messing up a bit. This TAS has new questions being answered, complete with ridiculous answers and a breakdown of the text recognition program.
  • Emulator used: Bizhawk 2.6.1
  • Uses luck manipulation
Warning: this TAS contains some coarse language, so keep that in mind when watching.

The part where you learn stuff

Breaking the text recognition program

The text recognition program only checks if the letters of answers are in order, not what's in between, probs to account for spelling mistakes (also: you can usually replace 't' with 'd'). We can abuse this. Example: if the answer is 'ice', 'the incredibles' will also work. This is because the game reads it as 'the InCrEdibles'; it ignores the non-capitalized letters here, thus you are left with 'ICE'; a valid answer.

Comments

Beginning

At the beginning of the movie, the number of players is set to 2. This is done to make the fourth round possible without too much delay. The bullseye round is skipped, in order to get straight to the fun part of the TAS. The family names are set to A for family 1 and B for family 2.

The questions

Some luck manip here to get good questions. In round 3, the last answer is intentionally skipped, to be able to get round 4.

End

At the end is the fast money round. Not much to say here.

Samsara: Judging.
Samsara: It seems like all relevant constructive criticism has already been received, as the thread has more or less just devolved into argument baiting and actual unironic use of the term "snowflake". Since I don't see the quality of the feedback improving, I am cancelling the submission to dissuade further negativity. PP Unknown, I apologize for how this submission was treated.

You know, I was looking forward to an improvement of Family Feud, with some good jokes, nothing that would get outdated, all round good time… let’s get into it. Immediately out of the gate we’re given a reprisal joke "Oops I pressed it" (Speed Limit) vs "SHIT I pressed it" (Shirts). Now, in terms of usage the original feels stronger cause it's in the Double Round and you're not expecting it. What makes it funnier (to me) on the original is that you can't spot Speed Limit, compared to Shirts. Now with the prompt “Name something men have their initials on” the only thing I found funny, which worked was "Edible Birth Certificate". Everything else fell flat as immediately after the answers "Breast Thief Cassette” and "Chicken Ruffling Kids" were used and that didn’t work with the prompt. Compared to the original TAS’s Round 2 which has the prompt "Name a sign no one seems to obey" immediately opens with "No yodeling allowed" (YIELD) and so on working with the prompt, and playing off of the prompt. With the first round is that this is just writing witty answers to trick the thing rather than playing with the prompts. I’m not going to break down any further as the next rounds have the same issues as highlighted in the sentence above. The goal says "now with less N-words" is very counterproductive with other offensive answers that you have provided in its place instead. These answers were also just all round bad, disrespectful, outdated basically immediately: "Is this your sex pin" "Really Communist England" "This show sucks" "British wankers" There’re also crude comments such as: "Stupid Titty Case" "Sharp Razorblade Dildoes" "Penis holding cilinder" (which has a typo) There’s also this answer here which honestly is just going for the trick rather than playing for it: "Valentine can go right D" There was also this chain that was just to basically pad it out. "No" "Y Tho" " " " " All and all I only lightly laughed once through this entire thing, it’s a forward No Vote.

Voting no. With the published TAS, the given answers follow clear themes - they try to fit the patterns of the questions most of the time, to the point where it becomes a meta-joke when they don't, and otherwise provided creative, humorous jokes in their own right. You barely even realize that the answers are constrained to whatever the text parser reads as a valid answer. This TAS, by comparison, doesn't provide that level of humor. Half of the answers are crude jokes, and the other half are very obviously strained attempts at coming up with something the text parser reads as correct. Or they're both. Forgoing giving one of the answers in round 3 was also a bad choice. It breaks the flow, did not take the opportunity to write anything funny even when you have almost full creative freedom, wastes a lot of time, and the extra round doesn't offer much of anything new. In the end, I don't think it has the entertainment value to even stand on its own. But especially compared to the published TAS, considered one of the most creative and entertaining playaround movies on the site even after more than a decade, there just is no positive quality to this run to merit publication over or alongside it.
http://www.youtube.com/Noxxa <dwangoAC> This is a TAS (...). Not suitable for all audiences. May cause undesirable side-effects. May contain emulator abuse. Emulator may be abusive. This product contains glitches known to the state of California to cause egg defects. <Masterjun> I'm just a guy arranging bits in a sequence which could potentially amuse other people looking at these bits <adelikat> In Oregon Trail, I sacrificed my own family to save time. In Star trek, I killed helpless comrades in escape pods to save time. Here, I kill my allies to save time. I think I need help.

Yeah, the humor level isn't that high here. Nevertheless, it still has some potential to have a decent TAS "volume #2", but for this to happen, the game has to be brute-forced for all questions and prescribed answers which would let you come up with hilarious answers
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

This submission doesn't really uphold the quality of the orignial publication, which - I might add - hasn't aged too well, which even the author of it admits. I feel the vast majority of the answers weren't exactly funny, the crude stuff notwithstanding, and honestly feel a bit tacked on. I feel for a TAS such as this one, it is strongly advised to upload a WIP to userfiles and post in the game topic, and see how the audience reacts to the answers. With that said, I'm voting No on entertainment. Good luck for your next attempt, however.

The answers were too vulgar and not all that funny. It was also much more obvious how the system was tricked, compared to the published run. That's a "no" from me.
Current project: Gex 3 any% Paused: Gex 64 any% There are no N64 emulators. Just SM64 emulators with hacky support for all the other games.

There were some RARE reedeming points (pills against drowning + MAYBE some answers in the very last round) for this TAS, but most of the answers are immature and pretty pathetic. If they were meant to be jokes, then I cry over your sense of humour. Tased loser, cya dope. No vote.

The problem is that the solutions need to answer the question since this is a quizshow. The best answers here do that, but most feel like a madlib. The original is hilarious with those. However the worst sin was that you spelled cylinder wrong.

I'd like to emphasize that while people are free to criticize the TAS, they should still be civil and constructive.

Comments like this put the author down. Humor is a skill that can be improved upon. You can express your distaste for the movie without putting down the author in the process.
[16:36:31] <Mothrayas> I have to say this argument about robot drug usage is a lot more fun than whatever else we have been doing in the past two+ hours
[16:08:10] <BenLubar> a TAS is just the limit of a segmented speedrun as the segment length approaches zero

I'm not sure a volume #2 would be a good idea. It might open up the flood gates for endless submissions. If that was allowed, then TASes that have the same frame count could be judged as another volume for the same category, where different things were done for entertainment. I don't know, since it is a "Playaround"...you might be on to something. I just think that volumes would have to be defined for the rules so that it doesn't overwhelm the site.
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing. SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real? ---- Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX

I just have a shit sense of humor and don’t find most things funny, so I don’t even find the older one that funny, but I don’t think this improves over the currently published run. I did slightly chuckle at some of the answers but nothing had me falling out of my chair. No vote
I like to comment on submissions and look around the site. You have probably seen me before (if you have been around for a while) either on the site, Discord, or any other social media. I recently took up making temporary encodes for new submissions. Also, I never forget to greet Tompa wherever I find him! "when resyncing stuff sucks it's called Resuccing" - EZGames69 “If an emulator stops being accepted to the site it should be called an emuLAMEr” - EZGames69 "oh no discord, everything I say will now be logged forever, sdfsdf, time to hide" - Masterjun "just had to give therapy to a taxi with daddy issues" - psx Current Projects: Mother 3 (75% complete)

I personally have never found any Family Feud TAS "funny" (that's not really the point of a TAS now is it) but that's just me. So they are all equal to me. I cannot understand how so many in this topic are pretending that Family Feud TASes can be "compared" or "improved". That notion sounds ridiculous.

I want all good TAS inside TASvideos, it's my motto. TAS i'm interested: Megaman series, specially the RPGs! Where is the mmbn1 all chips TAS we deserve? Where is the Command Mission TAS? i'm slowly moving away from TASing fighting games for speed, maybe it's time to start finding some entertainment value in TASing.

So all games, movies, and other forms of entertainment are all equally satisfying and entertaining to you? So TOCA or Desert Bus are equally as entertaining as the recent Smash Bros playarounds?

The second paragraph was a nod to the original TAS. Presumed it was.. obvious? Beside that - maybe some stronger words were used, but it would be crushing only for a.. snowflake? Just plain truth there, nothing else. As for the sense of humour, it's more complicated than just broadening knowledge, since it's obviously very subjective and as such the root often stays the same. Feel it's a digression tho.
