The principle is the same, so by theory this trick should work as well. There's no real way to prove that this is possible on console with no TAS tools and no console verification for this game. The best thing for the community to do is assume the mechanism has the same valid application here.
Edit: However, simply clipping out of bounds in this room at this spot would be technically proof of concept. I'm sure people will be motivated to find some RTA way to do this now that this has been found, so maybe we will see someone get at least a clip out of bounds eventually after hours of trying. This trick is definitely not RTA viable in its current state though.
