This TAS finishes arcade mode with liu kang as he's the fastest character, he has above 50% dmg combos and he has a glitched special move to kill the game's boss, the only other character with that is JAX the exclusive of mk unchained, the PSP Port.
i miss the first move of some chain combos to reduce scaling and enemies ocasionally force lesser combos to avoid breaker,i do let the enemy use breaker if my move has significant cooldown. i mash pause to glitch the end of the first round and reposition myself for death traps or better combo situations.
breaker can be used 3 times in a match, but that wastes a lot of time, i tried to manipulate breakerless fights
onaga is stunned by the items at the edge of the stage.
i will provide my savefile to sync the movie when a judge requests so.
IMPROVEMENTS: better stages unlocked maybe, better rng for better stages and fights that have transitions and breakers on them, CPU GOES NUTS WITH THE BREAKER ON HIGHER DIFFICULTY. i dont believe there are better characters in this game exceptif you account for jax in the PSP VERSION which isn't here and his combos seems to be worse tha liu kang, the only good thing about jax is the glitched speciual move he also has, normally you need the items to stun onaga and cause ok damage but liu kang and jax dont need the item to do it
thanks everyone from the mk speedrun discord, charada brazil, sdr, dark noob,sj, 3d mk discord and tasvideos, this might be my final contribution for MK games...

feos: Added the "NewGame+" branch because this run depends on a bunch of prior unlockables.

I have the feeling Round 2 for Ashran could be done faster by staying on the same stage, without breaking the floor.
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

yes, you are correct, the problem is i have no decent combos that dont involve juggling with liu kang, the floor is basically a counter for how many popups you've done already, ashrah was doing the breaker in almost everything in that match, that's why i finished with the free throw after paochui 43

You know I love fighting game TASes, but I can't give this one more than a "meh". It's not so much because of the TAS itself but the game, it's just too slow in nature and this being a disc-based game with loading screens doesn't help. I did like the variety, though, with both combos to do damage the regular way and manipulating the AI into a stage hazard, this reminds me of the Soul Calibur II TAS.

Is there enough of a difference between other versions to warrant "(USA)" in the title? Genuinely curious.

i dont know difference between versions, it's just the name really, the pause glitch for the second round repositioning is gamecube exclusive but not region exclusive as far as i know

i will provide my savefile to sync the movie when a judge requests so.
What's wrong with providing it right away? And more importantly, how you got that save file.

The question still stands. How did you get those save files? If there's no way to replicate them (not necessarily through a movie) then this run can't be verified.

I played the game normally and unlocking all characters and collecting some chests without saving the movie file, you either use the savefile i gave you or even a small chest could desync if tried to recreate the savefile from start, reject if you will and let this run be in the cemetery, maybe someday rules change and this run can get unrejected

How long did it take?

Is there at least some gecko code(s) to replicate the same thing as those save files do?

i dont know, the regular gameplay takes 3hours if directed, the exclusives take an extra time and i got a bunch of unlockable i didnt really need but unfortunately for sync purposes would probably be needed

What are the needed unlockables then? There's no explanation why this run needs to start from a save file as opposed to fresh bootup.

all characters but it doesn't sync just getting the characters so maybe it tracks the small collectables as well, ive done tests like changing the difficulty manually back and forth and it desyncs, that's why i saved the savefile for later use EDIT: i'd call this run Arcade mode only, as it's not unusual to have all characters unlocked for Arcade mode, i think new game plus might be correct in the sense it's only after the konquest you get these characters but misleads taht you'd need to play arcade mode first to unlock these characters

Overall I don't think it'd be a good idea to allow random save files from the internet as movie anchors for publications. In cases when creating a verification movie is too hard (like having to play the game for many hours), I can see us allowing some kind of an external code that directly unlocks the needed things (in-game codes are already allowed for this). Even if sync depends on doing certain things in the emulator, to unlock things or to change the game. The fact that the author has already played through the game to unlock everything, just didn't record it into a movie, means there's no annoying and complicated setup that we want to work around here, and the workaround itself is not there either. We just need to use the save file, that may not even be replicatable. I'm for providing more options that are less legitimate as long as there's still some legitimacy to them, and there's a reason to use them that makes sense. I don't see a reason to not have a verification movie (or any other reproducible file or setup) for this submission.

i thought it would be rejected by now, i gave all the info and material sync, it's not allowed however. Is there anything else you're thinking about? Is there a discussion? Should i cancel the submission myself?

It can probably go to Playground if we host the save file on the site, but someone needs to get this run to replay first.

SJ has done a test run with ashrah that loses time in onaga but gets better time in stage layouts, so i'll skip having this published and submit when i can get liu kang with a good layout. Enjoy the konquest mode TAS!
