Until the girl is rescued, we're reusing the previous movie as-is.
We were creating it from scratch, but couldn't make the ground penetration work in the initial underground area.
Also, we're making the US movie using the Japan ROM, but since there's no language difference, I don't think it matters.
The only improvement is that if all flags are set, you can see the ending in the demo.
For the names, it would be great if the top two could add them as support.

Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

nymx: Claiming for judging.

In the submission notes, you use "we", but only one author is currently listed. Not sure if this is a translation issue, or if there are missing authors?

I created it all by myself, but since I used the previous movie clip up until right before saving the last girl, I thought it would be better to include the previous creator's name as well. If there's a problem, I'm fine with being the sole credit. made 作ったのは私一人ですが最後の女の子を助ける直前までは前ムービーをそのまま使っていますので前の作者も入れたほうがいいと思いました 問題があるなら私一人でもいいです

Just to clarify, can you link to the particular movie you used to create this improvement?

The movie is the same as [2897] NES Super Pitfall by Arc & Alyosha in 04:42.04 until the girl (Rhonda) is rescued around 3:56. Then the submitted movie immediately walks into intentional death and ends the input. After all the extra lives run out via additional deaths, the game returns to the start menu. Then if you wait on the start menu long enough, the demo movie plays. The demo starts at the beginning section of the game. Since the last goal after rescuing Rhonda is to escape the Dark World and return to the beginning section of the game, the game triggers the ending congratulations screen while playing the demo.

So, may we consider it an improvement over this cancelled submission? #4745: Arc, Kaylee & Alyosha's NES Super Pitfall in 04:54.86
TASing is like making a film: only the best takes are shown in the final movie.

The tactic has been known for 20 years: Post #39167 The judge will have to reconsider whether it is actually an improvement and properly beats the game.

I shared this on discord, but I'll post it here as well: The first 14167 frames of this submission are identical to [2897] NES Super Pitfall by Arc & Alyosha in 04:42.04 I'm guessing that's where Amaizumi pulled the inputs from. So Arc and Alyosha should be included as co-authors FWIW, I don't feel that this submission should obsolete the current publication. I feel it should be a separate branch. Maybe something along the lines of "demo glitch" because the 'player' actually fails to complete the game and instead dies a bunch after rescuing the girl to get a game over and return to the Title Screen; but because a flag has been set through gameplay when the demo starts after the Title Screen, the end-game screen displays. Also FWIW, the current publication reaches the end-game screen on frame 17136 where the new submission reaches it on frame 22126. So while the end-of-input in the new submission is earlier, the end-game screen is reached much later. I feel that both the method of ending the game and the timing difference warrant separate publications.

I will make sure to keep this in mind. Thanks.
I recently discovered that if you haven't reached a level of frustration with TASing any game, then you haven't done your due diligence. ---- SOYZA: Are you playing a game? NYMX: I'm not playing a game, I'm TASing. SOYZA: Oh...so its not a game...Its for real? ---- Anybody got a Quantum computer I can borrow for 20 minutes? Nevermind...eien's 64 core machine will do. :) ---- BOTing will be the end of all games. --NYMX

I like the idea of this TAS as its own separate category, like "demo glitch" or something similar. Yes vote.
SMB2U is the best NES Mario game.
