The Meating is a nes homebrew puzzle platformer game developed by Mega Cat Studios. In it you play as Kos, a ghost minotaur who was butchered after getting catfished. Revived by Gyros, the God of Meat, Kos sets to take revenge and reclaim his body.
Kos can jump, float, and bash to attack enemies, and more powers are unlocked as the game progresses, like the Telekinesis, or Incorporeality.
This is a TAS of the demo, which has only World 1, but it also has many glitches that don't exist in the full game, so I think it makes sense to TAS it on its own.
Game can be found here:
Game Objectives
- Emulator used: BizHawk 2.11

Tech and glitches
- At the end of every level, the game gives score for the amount of health and ghost power(?) left, which is slow, so its better to try and deplete these as much as possible along the way. This is the reason it's played in Raw, the hard mode, since everything deals more damage.
- When Kos is in the middle of a bash, and grounded, It's possible to bash again, which doesn't start a new bash propperly, but it moves Kos forward by about a frame of movement.
- Telekinesis zip: The Telekinesis power is used to move certain blocks, and attack the first boss, but a side effect is that it zips Kos into place to do it, the left of the block its in I think, so it can be used to zip very fast by using it every other frame while moving. It's way more effective when moving left, where it can actually be used every other frame, but when moving to the right it more often than not it zips you backwards, so it has to be timed.
- Wall clip: The zip is powerful enough that its possible to clip into walls by one block, to the left only. Depending on the collision its possible to continue clipping into the wall if, bwfore Kos stops moving and gets stuck in the wall, an Incorporeality is used to exit the wall from the other side.
Also, after doing the Incorporeality, its possible to keep Kos inside the wall and clip back the way you came with another Incorporeality, which is done a few times in the TAS.
- Wall jump: When bonking on a wall, Kos may get in there 1 pixel more than average, and then its possible to jump from inside the wall.
This can also done by bashing into the wall, half clipping with a zip, or with Incorporeality.
- In Level 8 Kos briefly travels OoB, this isn't done in other levels because in most levels there's collision in those places, so, Kos gets stuck, but not in Level 8.
CoolHandMike: This homebrew was one I had checked out before so wanted to judge this. The demo seems to have bugs exclusive to it that are not in the full version of the game. The demo is not the same as the full game so it should be considered its own tas-able game that should not be obsoleted if a tas of the full game is accepted. Optimization looks good throughout so no reason to not accept. Had a lot of fun watching the bull head zoom around!
Accepting to Standard.
Great Job!
