About this game and movie

MetroCUBEvania is a Pico-8 metroidvania (if you couldn't get that from the title) developed by FlytrapStudios. It follows the story of a nameless blue cube, who's on a quest to defeat the evil cube boss (who's red of course).
The goal of this run is to defeat the boss, while collecting the five medals, and it achieves that goal roughly 7 seconds faster than the RTA WR by AnaKitten. I must mention that her run is done on the easy mode, whereas mine is done on normal mode, which causes some changes in the level design which end up changing the time a little.

Interesting things

Lava cycle
The lava at the bottom section of the map runs at a global cycle that starts when you start the game. This means that I only started saving time over the RTA run after I grab the key in the lava area (we end up reaching the same cycle), meaning of half of the optimization of the run is useless, which kinda sucks, but it allows me to do some playaround, which is cool I guess.
Upwarp
This is the only glitch of this game I know. Essentially, by jumping to, what I believe to be, a pixel perfect position next to a ledge, the cube will warp to the highest vertical point at that X position. This may sound useful, but it's actually very situational, seeing as I can't use it to clip through anything. The only time where I use this glitch and it saves time is in the room that's an open area with the three spring blocks, which saved only 8 frames. Also, if you use this trick at the top of the map, you will warp to the bottom part from below. This may look cool, but it's useless.
Block clip
While groundpounding blocks in the lava area, I managed to slightly clip into a block. I'm not sure why it happened, I'm not sure if it's useful, but it's cool at least.
Comparison oddity
While I was comparing my TAS to AnaKitten's run, I noticed how she died earlier after obtaining the key in the lava section. I believe this is caused by the fact that she started the run way after the game finished loading, which caused differences in the lava's patterns. This is technically a time loss for me, but only in in-game time, which I wasn't aiming for.

Yes vote from me, I love PICO 8 and the upwarp glitch is very silly. When I watched the video I had a couple ideas for possible improvements. At 1:35, is it faster to get the key immediately and then backtrack to the room on the left and die to the lava there? And at 2:04, could you do an upwarp on the left to get to the medal faster?

I'm not sure about the first idea, but the second one is impossible. When I try to upwarp, I end up moving forward a little, which means I will hit the lower ceiling and not be able to get the medal, seeing as I can't double jump after performing an upwarp. I was actually a little disappointed when I found that out
