If you ask me UMK3 is not that great of a game really. It's mearly a compilation of all the other games. Xavier is my favorite in Eternal Champions as well. :)

Yes, but being a compilation makes it by definition better.

For some reason I was disappointed in the SNES version of MK3/UMK3. The graphics and sound took a huge dive from the arcade version. MK2 on the other hand was converted over nicely.

I agree to that georgexi! I was very disappointed when I bought MK3 for SNES. Atleast in the manners of graphics and sound. I did have alot of fun with the game otherwise though. But I don't think that UMK3 would make a better TAS just because it contains alot more characters. It would be harder to find variety I think. Sure.. One could play as Shang Tsung and morph into each and every character and pull off ALLOT of stuff. But I wonder if that would be boring after a while. But please. Try to prove me wrong. :) I would certeinly watch a TAS of any MK game. Hehe..

Hey, if people can find a SF II movie of Ken constantly doing Shouryukens and Hurricane Kicks entertaining, then this would easily fit into that category.

Ain't it about time to dig this game up again? I tried to use the search cheat function in Zsnes yesterday to be able to manipulate the number of wins so that I can fight Noob Saibot. Unfortunatly I'm not very good at this so I failed. The graphic would show, but it didn't count it seemed. So now I need someones help to get the adress that contains the real wins. One needs 50 rounds won in a row to fight Noob Saibot. One could try to cheat up to 49 rounds and win the last round. But in the end I will only need 36 rounds won because I don't need to fight Noob Saibot in the beginning of the game. Could someone please try and help me with this?

Keep trying. I thought that Volume Envelope Height Reading helped against desyncs?

Before I get hardcore negative comments:- I just did this to see if it would desynch! =P It didn't desynch. However, It is mortal kombat 2 AND I have no idea how to play the MK series. I will learn though if people want to see something. Here's an example of it not desynching: http://a2.11mbit.in/cC9k8e17uvxKLrEFG9fBC4a6306OPv2KqMEkldAA3953mIfC9ay34stG/9xh2ia34

i wouldnt mind doing a MK2 run myself if someone could find a way so that it never desynced and the sound didnt crap out. i was a mad mk2 fan back in the day. i've beaten the arcade version several times without continuing. matter of fact me and another MK2 buddy of mine still duke it out occasionally on the PS2 (MK: Shaolin Monks has MK2 on it). i'm kinda waitin to see if an arcade re-recording emulator becomes a standard. the arcade MK2 is superior sound/graphics-wise and hopefully wont have the desync problems.

Great. My MK2 ROM never desyncs. My ROM:- Mortal Kombat II (U) (V1.0) I used snes9x version 1.43 with re-recording etc. Also, FBA works fine, it can play arcade games such as alpha 3, xmen vs street fighter. Perhaps it has support for MKII too.

antd - Great to see it didn't desync. Allthough that demo match wasn't the best I've seen. :D But I do know that the point with this video was anyways. So don't absorbe the critique ;)

the Final Burn Alpha arcade emulator doesnt support MK2 so that's out of the question :( believe me i looked into it already what exact settings do you use to prevent the desyncs? i unchecked "Volume Envelope Height" but still get desyncs. does "Use WIP1 timing", "Fake Mute", or the others need to be checked/unchecked as well? i'm using snesx9 1.43+ and MK2(U)1.1 btw

hehe It's so frustrating only knowing how to do 2 moves as sub zero ;) I'll definitely learn all the different techniques for Mortal Kombat 2, now that I know it wont desync.

I just used default settings, I didn't change anything. Also, you said you are using version 1.1, I am using version 1.0. Try using the first version (1.0). It worked for me. EDIT: I'm so silly. I just remembered MK Trilogy is also on the N64. I could simply use the N64 version to do a better TAS (in terms of more characters, new techniques, more combo's). There's a ton of combo's and glitches in MKTrilogy. What do you think? Georgexi: How about you use the N64 version of MK Trilogy to do a TAS? It'll take some time for me to do something entertaining, since I have to learn the techniques of mortal kombat from scratch =P

Here is a test run I made in MK2. I used Reptile and showed some of the juggling I discovered with him. Let me know if it desyncs or not. I used the 1.0 Rom.

I forgot to mention I'm running Snes9x V9 so that could be it. The CRC of the rom is 1C3D3B72 though.

OgreSlayeR - It works perfectly with Snes9x V7 for linux if you check wip timing. Awesome demonstration you made. Funny thing to notice is the graphical glitch when you do the acid spit. Reptiles face get's stuck in mid air. :D If you are planning a full run of this game. Do not forget to choose Shang Tsung! Also I would prefere if you hold L+R through the entire intro text to see Shao Kahn and Kintaro totaly smash the Aklaim logo! Nice feature that just adds a little more to the entertainment. Actually I didn't know that this was possible on the 1.0 rom, so I just tested to verify it! ;) I suppose that this run will not be for speed anyways so. Go only for entertainment as much as possible. To show as much combos, glitches and combined fatalities etc. Also try to play against all the hidden characters in a row! That will add some more challange to this game. Don't forget to run on Very hard mode.

Did you check WIP timing antd? Edit: Encoded the show to an avi file instead. http://133an.sytes.net/~highness/Mk2TestByOgreSlayeR.avi Enjoy!

Heh, I'll doubt I'll do a serious run. I have other things I want to do first and I had to do round 2 like 4 different times as it kept desyncing. I don't think I could bear that in a full run. I might make another test run using Kitana, as she can do some really annoying juggling.

i'm thinking doing these test runs with just 1 fight isnt enough. we need to be able to get 3-4 consecutive fights in a row with no desyncs. that's where people were having problems before. the desyncs happen at random times. one fight sometimes isnt enough time to get it to happen but over the course of an entire run it will most likely occur
