Awesome. All I can say is that bolt+whoopassbook was my favourite spell combination even though that electronic noise got on my nerves.. cuz you could wrestle it around and avoid the other one from joinign you so it wouldn't disappear, and damage amount was almost equivalent to a normal attack.. I haven't worked much with the summonings spellbook. I really just play through this game at leisure on and off at times.. I'm not real good at it, but it doesn't matter anyway. If it was me doing the run, I'd do some interior decorating as well, just a little big.. gotta get the stag and the big bed, and maybe the chandelier.. and probably go through boss rush as simon belmont afterwards... but hey, that's me. I would like to see anything from this game regardless considering it's the best sidescroller/rpg castlevania yet.

and damage amount was almost equivalent to a normal attack. If you mean the Gradius shield, that does 50% more damage than the whip.

Well, this game isn´t as famous as the other for the gba, but it´s really better then CotM. It loses at the sound department, but it´s more Castlevania then the previous one. One weird thing amout this game is the brutal differrence between two adjacent rooms. You´re in a cave, cross a doorway and you´re inside a skeleton-like room. It´s much like the Chaotic Realm of AoS.

Ideally the best magic would be wind + fist if each shot would hit twice, but only dracula's second form is fat enough for this to happen. Both legions are probably fat enough too but I don't need to fight either of them. Other than that, I tested all spells and the gradius shield is indeed the best overall. Some spells do a bit more damage but they last way, way too long and cost more mana. I also found out that the "crouch at circular warps" trick to teleport cyclicly through them only works after you pick up the hint card telling you about it.

I also found out that the "crouch at circular warps" trick to teleport cyclicly through them only works after you pick up the hint card telling you about it. Strange, on the GBA I'm sure I did that teleporting before I got the hint card.

I was sure you could do it whenever you want too but I tested it and it's undeniable. Open hornqvist's last WIP and fast forward it to the end. Go back 1 screen above where the movie ends and take the warp back to castle A. When you're there, crouch. You won't be warped to the clock tower. Now pick up the hint card in front of you and try again. Now it works.

And here I always thought the hint cards were just useless hints that weren't of any use once you had the knowledge or it.. M As for the music was only one notch down from Super Castlevania 4, bla bla Rondo of Blood, and Chronicles. No need for real instrunments or samples that sound like instrunments.. Same way I feel about movies with orchestral scores as opposed to say, the 1983 version Scarface movie's soundtrack which was all synth... Leave it to the lonely German d00d on the keyboard to outpower an orchestra of 20+.. Job stealing, maybe! But sometimes it fits better.. A Also, I recommend getting of the few Good/Cool/Awesomes that come with grabbing the orb after you beat an enemy. Finally a Castlevania that rewards you for jumping and grabbing the orb in a cool way. I know you get excellents for using the whip as you get the orb. . It's hard sometiems.. But with practice and some free time, can't go wrong. Gotta get the orb messages. They're a trip.

What are the orb messages good for? Just showing off?

Yeah, they tell you how perfect your pose is. Too bad I won't be grabbing any of the orbs except Dracula's, which I don't think prints these messages.

Here's the first WIP: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/922/ With extreme luck manipulation and better movement optimization, I'm 3169 frames ahead of hornqvist after killing skull knight.

So what's faster, dashing or sliding? Why did you mix them up? Otherwise, oh my sweet crap I can't say enough good about this progress. Very well done and extremely fun to watch!

It looked as though dashing was only faster on inclines.

Sliding is faster on flat surfaces, but it's not worth doing unless you're going to do it at least twice because the frames one slide saves is canceled out by the frames it takes getting down and getting back up. Dashing is better on inclines and it gives you more distance than sliding when you dash over a ledge/pit. Sliding is not always ideal even on flat surfaces because it can't be canceled into something else. A dash can be canceled into a whip swing, a jump or into a slide. Tapping down for 1 frame is the fastest way to stop a dash, then it's easy to change/dash into the other direction. A dash can also be used to cancel a whip swing 15 frames into it, something I do very often. When both sliding and dashing won't save me time (including luck/monster behavior manipulation) then I'll use them interchangeably. Typically I'll slide if I was already doing it, otherwise I'll dash.

Here's the second WIP: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/931/ I wanted to wait until I met death after killing max slimer but I'm a little burnt out and I want to take a break for now. If anyone cares I'm about 93 seconds ahead of hornqvist after killing giant merman. This is the last comparison I can give because my route is different from then on.

Looking good. But is the bolt book worth that huge detour? And why did you take the time to move the cursor to No in that one saveroom instead of simply hitting B?

I'm sure I'll gain most of the time wasted getting the book on the max slimer fight alone. I still need to wait for the yes/no choice to completely appear before pressing B does anything in a save room, and I can press right to move the choice to no before I can press either A or B. It doesn't change anything.

I just love watching these bosses get demolished. And the way Juste has all sorts of very fast movements for different scenarios. This is making a great TAS.

Great WIP. Never hear or see these door glitches before. Only the first one, where you get the first item. But these Warp door glitches are new for me. Seems very glitchy this game. One question: Must you do this backslide R more times by some doors till the Warp work? Because at the first doors you must do it 2 times and later only 1 time.

It varies. Some of the doors like the one the leads to the Skeleton Cave require you enter it and exit it for it to work right.

The door glitch won't work when the area name appears on the screen the first time you enter it.

Ok I understand. I have think, that it must timed 100% and that this is only a test WIP maybe. But now I understand the reason.
