It would be nice to see Arena's TAS. This game is harder than Super Metroid (just example... you get 3 missiles from every missile pack instead of 5. And you have to use wall jump right immeadently in start to get away from you ship). Is here someone who is intressed to make TAS for this game ? It would be nice to see more Super Metroid. And because original Super Metroid is so popular, and I think I'm not only one who wants to see TAS from this game. And once again... sorry for my bad english...

Links to patch? Screenshots?

I don't think linking to an IPS patch would be a problem, though. I've played a fair amount of Super Metroid roms, and am a regular at two Metroid fansites, yet I have to admit I've never even heard of this hack. I'll try finding and playing it sometime.

Thanks for the link. Seems the game isn't really finished according to that...

It's just a minihack that was made to test an editor, the game only progresses until Kraid. So what's the point?
someone is out there who will like you. take off your mask so they can find you faster. I support the new Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun.

Oh, never found that information. I tought that game was longer because there was no that sort of information in other sites where i found that. My mistake! But anyway... I want to see more Super Metroid because it's one of my favourite games ever so it would be nice if there is full "hacks" or something like that :)

Actually, why requesting a TAS, while being absolutely uninformed about the game? You could at least play it to the end to determine whether it is TAS worthy or not. ;) Don't make that mistake again. P.S. I am a Super Metroid fan too, but the only hack I'm really waiting for is this one, as it shows more or less complete redesign of all the levels and even some modifications to the physics model. Sounds pretty sweet! Metroid Legacy was pretty decent too, but it didn't catch my interest as much as the original did. The Legacy had its moments though… I think you should try it.

Hmmm Supermetroid = Supremetroid ^^ Well, Sper Metroid is also the game I like the most. I got a lot of fun with Limit, and think that if someone has to do a hack's speedrun, it should be that one. The hack is hard, incredibly well-staged, and asks for programming errors in the game ;) . I'm sure a 100% tas of it should be way entertaining, but well, Redesign looks also really good.

Metroid Limit would indeed be interesting, I enjoyed it more than Legacy at any rate.

Can somebody give me link to Metroid Limit patch ? With Google you can get 17 matches and there you aren't able to download that =/ Btw... Metroid Legacy is quite nice to play =) I have now played few hours and have killed Phantoon. Very nice when you don't know/remember where to go, so I'm able to adventure around =) That's the way I like it

Meaning that the rom you patched is pal. Use a NTSC one, japaneese or american.

that's what i'm doing. is it okay to use ipswin through wine, or does that screw it up somehow? (or am i stupid for doing that anyway?)

That may screw it up somehow, Snes9x and ZSNES both offer a way to read the rom and the patch together without ipswin, but now I'm not sure that's the problem. Everybody had a problem with limit, then they were saying their rom was pal, so sorry now I cannot help you a lot.

Maybe the ROM needs to [not] have a header?

You don't have to use wine. I found a Perl script that someone wrote that can apply IPS's on other operating systems. I can post it if anyone is interested. Thanks for the information about these other Metroid hacks. I just finished playing through Metroid Legacy on my own. Now I am playing through Metroid Limit, but I got stuck. Does anyone here know where to go after you beat Phantoon? I can't find where to go next. It looks like there are lots of places to use the speed booster, but I can't find it. That it gives you the varia, I'm guessing that Norfair is next? If anyone has a hint, I'd appreciate it. Edit: Never mind, I found the passage. The entrance to Norfair is right above the save point. I feel silly now.

http://bisqwit.iki.fi/src/unmakeips.cc -- C++ program to apply an IPS patch. Example usage (to patch Chrono Trigger into Finnish version):
mkdir tmp
cd tmp
cp ../chronotrigger.smc .
wget http://bisqwit.iki.fi/src/unmakeips.cc
g++ -o unmakeips unmakeips.cc
wget bisqwit.iki.fi/ctfin/ctfin-1.14.6.zip
unzip ctfin-1.14.6.zip
./unmakeips ctpatch-nohdr.ips chronotrigger.smc ctfin.smc
snes9x -y4 ctfin.smc
