Ah yes! *OR* we could do that, Shakespeare! What a fabulous suggestion you've suddenly made! I'd like to add that perhaps it should be done at a registrar of names for domains. Someday, eventually, it could be made available for access via http!

I disagree, mainly because the term 'TAS' is still just a stand in until we can all finally agree on a term for the movies made here. However, since the domain is just as fluid as the current one, I don't see why not.
What Warp said. Honestly, TASvideos seems really a good choice. Bravo Zefiris.

"Off-topic" has certainly earned its title this month.

I prefer fabianvideos. I also hope I will be able to type the big bad bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/ with trailing slash forever, because I like that more than tasvideos.org. Oh well. Although I did like this error. Awesome. I suppose it is rigged :P Looking at it again I saw bisqwit's message. Is that supposed to look like agent slash? That would be nifty. Also be sure to try it without the trailing slash.

Except now the link back to the main site from the forum is way broken.

I'm sure Bisqwit will fix it all in due time. Have faith in our Finnish overlord.

I always thought Linus was our Finnish overlord. Bisqwit is probably more of a Chancellor.

Shouldn't there be a note about this in Forum announcements? How many parts testing and how parts permanent is this change?

I guess there should, but I was kind-of hoping to see feedback while keeping the change low-profile.

I find it hard to give any feedback that is not flaming obvious, such as: Obvious downsides: Nesvideos is an established name already. Obvious upsides (?): More accurate name. Initial reaction is that I don't think changing familiarity for accuracy is a good idea. But that's just after 5 minutes of this. ----- If this change is made permanent, by the way, can we please decide whether the "real" name which channel, forum etc are named after, is Tasvideos, tasvideos, or TASvideos?

well, suddenly being logged out and wondering why it doesn't keep my cookies after logging in isn't really "low-profile". I don't think a name has to be replaced with an accurate description (you look as much like a cookie as I look like a bath tub - it's just a name). Of course I'm biased to the name I'm used to, so don't ask me.

I think TASVideos is for the better. It doesn't look as nice as NESVideos when written, but at least it doesn't create confusion as to what kind of site this is. I do think, however, that it's a bad thing the name TASVideos doesn't exactly speak for itself. What is "TAS"? A lot of people don't know this. A lot of people do know what a "NES" is, though, and will get the idea that these are indeed probably videos of games being played, even if it turns out there's more than just NES videos.

This happens around weekly to me, regardless of url changes. I didn't think anything abnormal of it at first.

TASVideos is definitely for the better. Even if people don't what a TAS is, after getting to know the site, they will. I don't see the name as a problem that confuses people, but a solution that will make the term TAS more well known.

Personally, I like tasvideos.org because the first bit is lefthand typable, which means I don't have to use my right hand, just tas, down, enter. Which is also a reason I like my name, first bit's right hand typable.

This is better, because now I can type the url instead of having to type "bisqwit" and get redirected by google. And I also had the cookie problem.
