Terribly sorry for resubmitting. I discovered a glitch that allowed me to kill final boss about 3 seconds faster, and I can't live with imperfections like that.
Emulator: snes9x-improvement6 (default settings, WIP1 timing, enable left+right)
Abuses programmer errors Takes damage to save time Aims for fastest time possible Expporation glitches were not allowed in this run (see OmnipotentEntity's *entry for those), no "Death Mountain Descent" either...
In this game Link's must save Princes Zelda and the rest of Hyrule from Ganon once again. In his quest he collects many items such as, bow and arrows, hookshot, master sword, etc. He solves puzzles and defeats foes throughout 13 dungeons before meeting Ganon for the final time. Link does all this in 80 minutes!
Making this moving was very interesting but very time consuming as well. This may have been too long of a game to tackle for a first time attack, but I am happy with the result. There are a couple of techniques used in this run that are not viable on the console. Levitation glitch (pressing dash every other frame to prevent falling in pits) is used frequently but usually isn't a major factor in route, most of the time you could bomb jump over stuff or go around. The other is up+down, this mainly to wobble which makes Link walk 2 pixels each frame when moving left and up, as opposed to 1,2 every other (33% faster walking up/left). Besides just these there are lots of little tricks and glitches that add up to lots of time saved. If you haven't played this game you probably will think many of the glitches used are normal though.
Here are some key times, I may add dungeon splits later.
select character 997 frames / 16.7 seconds (competition timing starts) final hit to ganon 282781 1:18:33/ (competition timing stops) last input 288967 / 1:20:16
So the competition time is 1:18:16

So he didn't have to switch weapons to the Firerod.

It takes no time to waste a bomb, and having the firerod allowed me to flick that switch later on faster, which saved about half a second. But then later the lack of bombs caused me to pick up a stone with a bomb under it costing about 1/4-1/3 a second so it really didn't save much. When I did it I thought it would save more.

I only really noticed this because I saw it in a speedrun, but this video could save a good chunk of time as follows: 1. When you dig up the flute, place the magic mirror portal such that you will be transported back to the Dark World *before* you are frozen by the Flute Boy's disappearance. (it can be done) 2. Go up to the town square in the Dark World. Use the magic mirror, free the bird, then return and enter Blind's lair. This is considerably faster than going up to the portal in the Lost Woods. I'd estimate you could save as much as 20 seconds in all this way, unless I'm missing something important.

Incidentally, this movie should have the Manipulates luck flag. It's obvious that the player is manipulating luck in the first battle with Agahnim, to make sure all of his shots are the sort you can bounce back at him, rather than the sort that just explode when you hit them. This is why they move so strangely between hits. I'm not sure if luck is manipulated elsewhere.

That is slower than what I did because it requires you to warp to the dark world and back, each way taking over 2 seconds, and you have to switch items to the mirror and then back to the flute, each time taking a second. I was aware of this method and I tried both ways, it was slower by a significant amount.

You cannot do this because to walk up to the town in the dark world requires the titan's mitt which you don't have yet. About the randomness, yes this time attack depends on manipulating randomness on many occasions. Almost all rooms with monster randomness were chosen as to get ideal behavior, and in addition almost all rupee/item drops were affected as well. I hadn't noticed it didn't get the manipulates randomness flag, but whatever.

this is the first time i ever saw this game beaten. i also enjoyed your rapid movements that made u run faster and not have to use the moving platforms over the pits. voted "yes"

Too bad you're about a year too late to make any difference. Please don't revive dead threads. =(

It's a thread about a published movie. I would think those are exempt from that kind of thing.

If it would be a bad thing, there wouldn't be a link that said "Discuss this movie" in the list of published movies. And I wouldn't mind if someone told me they liked the movie I made.
