Any word on when the new version of this movie will be released? I can't wait to see Morimoto beat the "perfect" video that's already out there.
Any week soon. They have the route established and there probably are no new findings to be found on how to improve it. Check also the other thread on this subject.

i was'nt sure where to put this as i could'nt find a mega man 2 thread on its own but this is a rather interesting glitch i know that works in at least the US version. if you hold right and left at the same time, and fire the metal blade weapon (from metal man) instead of flying across the screen, it stays in 1 spot forever. interesting huh?

Yes, I forgot that it can be interesting to try pushing two opposite directions at the same time, as the original D-pad doesn't let you do that. (It has to lean one way to register the direction, like a joystick.)

well, it being my favorite mega man game, I'm also looking forward to it. I hope the new glitches are something you can take advantage of when just playing - which reminds me: I was just playing SMB1 on a NES last night and I was trying to do the thing in crazygodtechnique where he bounces off walls. I know this is used in other runs too but its practically every jump in that video. I bounced around for a little while but no results. Whats the trick? I can go ask somewhere else if this is too off topic.

The most often used glitch (using an item 1 to push you inside ceiling) is not difficult to invoke in regular play, but getting anything useful done there is challenging. Doing it constantly / in perfect time is nearly impossible.

Well, this is probably not where I should respond to the SMB1 question, but this is where he asked it so I will ;) . There is a really easy grip jump to be had at the very beginning of the game. Just run off of the X?X?X set of blocks (right above the first goomba you ever see) at maximum speed, and you will hit the side of the pipe just after it at just the right spot to grip it.

hey the thing on bubble man stage where you can use the start button to get that glitch (right after the second three snails) and before the matel fish so you get transportet by the "roof" a bit further... is that possible on the maga man 2 europe consol version? cus i end up there everytime but i just get stuck and have to jump down to the left by myself.

I heard that you have to get into a certain exact position to do that, or it won't work.

It could also be that you didn't make it in far enough to the right. If you make it far enough, you should be stuck and unable to move left or right. From this position, just have Mega Man turn facing left and then let go of the directional pad to start zooming though the wall. You can stop again by moving right, and start again by facing left. Edit: Actually, I forgot one thing. As soon as the screen starts scrolling downward, hold left on the d-pad. Once the screen stops scrolling, Mega Man will be pushed in a bit to the right. Then just let go of d-pad and he will start zooming.

I've been playing around with the Wily warp glitch and managed to uncover every Wily level. Unfortunately, none of the bosses show up in any of them, so there's no way to skip ahead. Too bad. I'm still looking forward to seeing the new Rockman 2 video. Heatman - warp to Wily 1 Airman - warp to Wily 2 Woodman - warp to Wily 3 Bubbleman - warp to Wily 4 Quickman - warp to Wily 5 Clashman - warp to Wily 6(I guess) Flashman - none Metalman - none

There's a post on Morimoto's BBS that has a level editor for Rockman 2. It shows what's beyond each boss's room. This probably could've saved you some trouble...

Cool. So is the one in Clashman's stage really Wily 6? It takes you to a huge pit, so I'm just assuming its 6, but you die once you fall instead of scrolling, and it doesn't show the level either. There's also a weird room in Metalman's stage that I can't find anywhere else in the game. Its full of small pits that are really close to each other.

It looks to be nothing more than data being misread as level data.

Actually, I haven't looked at the level data in an editor in a good while, but from your description, I'm guessing it might be one of those "leftover" screens...there's some bits and pieces of old MM1 level data in the MM2 rom. Specifically, the last few screens of Cutman and Wily 1. :)

I have all your mpg demonstration clips (including wilys.mpg) available at: http://tasvideos.org/jp-mm2/ But if it causes too much traffic, I'll remove it. EDIT: Garion also kindly put a mirror at: http://www.garion.org/jp-mm2/ I'm thankful that you have written explanations in English too. Ps: I hope your cut-paste works. The game may have randomness that prevents it working.

Just curious as to how all the little tricks are done in these time attacks. I have read Bisqwits little trick list for Rockman 1, but what about the other games? Do these tricks also work for other games? How does that bubbleman ceiling warp thing work? How do you do the ladder trick Morimoto does in MM2 with Item-3? What is the "wily Warp" I hear about? How can you do it? Any little tip or glitch is welcome actually, I've been playing these games again and since I can now finish them on 1 man I'm giving this speedrun stuff a try and trying to mess around with the game a bit more (fun as hell too :)) I know I'm asking alot, but I don't know of any definitive list anywhere or anything. Anyone have any links? thanks

going to david wonn's glitch page will be immensely illuminating for you - many of the glitches used (all? i dunno) are documented there, organized by game. I know its not the same as hearing it from bisqwit himself or whatnot, but it is the info you're looking for. just google wonn glitch and it'll be right there.

How does that bubbleman ceiling warp thing work? Watch the video. Just keep pausing until you make it far enough to the right, and when the screen starts scrolling, hold left. Mega Man should be stuck in the wall. Now just release left and Mega Man will start zooming to the right. How do you do the ladder trick Morimoto does in MM2 with Item-3? If you're talking about the trick where he quickly zooms to the right, that's done by holding up+down on the controller. To pull this off though, you would need to use a keyboard or mess with your controller pad. You don't need item-3 to do it. Just hold both the up and down directions and once Mega Man reaches the top of the ladder, he will go flying to the right. You can also go through walls with this trick. The two other games that I know have this is AoL and Tiny Toon, where holding opposite directions at the same time will move you around extremely fast. Edit: I forgot one thing. The condition for this trick to work is that there must be some kind of roof above the ladder, and that Mega Man has to touch it when he jumps off the top of the ladder. If there's no roof above the ladder when you do this trick, Mega Man will just be jumping around like an idiot. What is the "wily Warp" I hear about? How can you do it? Its a trick that takes you to a Wily level from one of the 8 robot levels. The levels are messed up and there's no boss at the end of them. There are a few ways to do it. The easiest way is to use item-1 at the boss doors under the Wily signs, then let the wall trick zoom you through the door. If you did it right, it should look like you are in a different level, overlapping the current one. Now go to the boss and let him kill you. When you gain control again, you should be in the corresponding Wily level. Hope that makes sense. Here are the "warps": Heatman - Wily 1 Airman - Wily 2 Woodman - Wily 3 Bubbleman - Wily 4 Quickman - Wily 5 Clashman - Wily 6 Flashman - none Metalman - none

Also, didn't stx-vile mention something about a left+right glitch in Ninja Gaiden 2? Need to dig that thread back up... -Josh

Thanks for the heads up sleepz.. I appreciate it. But I have a few more questions about those things if you (or anyone) can help me out. I can do the bubbleman thing.. well, sometimes anyways. Do you have to get 2 blocks deep into the wall? When I get past only one block, I usually get stuck and have to jump out. I take it the reason it works is because of how bisqwit zips right in his MM1 vid? This is the "wall trick" right? The ladder thing confuses me.. I'm using a normal controller so I can't try it anyways.. but anyhow, you climb the ladder by holing up+down, then jump to the ceiling at the top i take it. Wily warp sounds very interesting! So it's all about somehow getting into the pre-boss room or "boss foyer" or whatever without using the door, then let the boss kill you. I use Item-1, and use the same "wall trick" to get in.. squeeze my head against the ceiling and face left? I'll give it a shot.. thanks for the help again! bdevindotcom: I check out his page, but it doesn't really have what I'm looking for. In fact the only thing it has for MM2 is airman wily warp. With intructions to "fool around near the cloud. Jump around, jump at the wall, and you might go through an invisible door." which honestly isn't that informative. Sleepz told me to die? I dunno. A definite way of getting in anyhow would be nice. :) I'm also more interesting in exactly why or how these tricks work. Bsiqwit's rockman tricks page is perfect example. http://tasvideos.org/RockmanTricks.html Although Ladder Trick #3 sorta confuses me.. you need to stand with the ladder 48 pixels above your feet? The bottom of the ladder? So you jump up INTO the ladder and grab it near it's top? So that ladder has to be a certain height too? And the result is that Megaman teleports off the top of the ladder into the air right? He then goes on to say Morimoto used it in his MM2 vid. I take it this is where he zips right? Or did I miss it because Sleeps has said it was up+down, and not this. Or is it a combination of the two tricks?? Confused.. :)
