This is one of the few matches in the whole tournament that turned out how I wanted it to. As I'm in Washington, DC, and today is July 4, I was unfortunately unable to watch it :(. Congratulations to the Italians.

Match was awesome. Espcially, in extra time, Italy made awesome attacks.
Over all there was a lot of chance, both teams missed. France will won Today :D I am Damn sure.
I think Porugal will win tonight since they've already had their bad patch and come through it. The players who are being re-instated will feel like they've been given a second chance and will take the opertunity to do well. This is also probally the first world cup where Italy have at least adapted a positive attidude towards winning games rather than trying not to lose them. I wonder if Juve will be relagated to the bottom division.

Truth to be told, after what they pulled vs Netherlands I don't want either of them in the finals. It's fun to watch a match with 10+ cautions, but the teams involved should not get away with it that easily. Especially not the intentional aggressions displayed by portugese players.
France have won two of their three second-round matches due to set piece-like situations. That's not really the kind of result I expect from a supposedly world-class team.

And no one has made goals to their end even from set piece-like situations in the playoffs.
Congratulations to Germany for the 3rd place with a 3-1 win over Portugal. Except of the very close and unlucky loss against Italy I think Germany was the best Team in this Cup. Klinsmann did a awesome job by building the team up like that in only 2 years. I really hope he will stay as the trainer since there is no other man with such a motivation to do this job that great like he did.
Tomorrow is the final between Italy and France and I hope we will see a exciting and entertaining match like it always was in the past comparisons of this teams.
Better quality of gameplay doesn't have to result in more goals. If both teams have very good defenses then 90+ min. might be not enough to show the difference.
EDIT: I'm not saying Germany was the best though - don't follow the game close enough to judge.
Italy created much more scoring chances against Germany and earned their victory. It was surprising to see an attacking Italian squad in this tournament as they are known mainly for defensive play.
Therefore I hope Italy wins with their new more active style.

I like France but they won back in '98 and therefore I think Italy should be victorious in the final since its been like 20 years ago they won it the last time?. As people have already mentioned, many expected Italy to be a defensive team as they have mostly been throughout various of tournaments but in this World Cup, we saw a new offensive Italy mainly because of new fresh forwards as Luca Toni, Gilardino and thew defender Grosso, who won two games for Italy.

I think both teams derserve to be world champion. At least it's not Brazil (would be boring).
I think there should be a new trophy for best acting. C.Ronaldo definitely would have won this award. I laughed my ass of when I saw a slow-motion when he pretended to be fouled and looked painfully in the referee's direction while still flying.

Well, Italy wins on PKs. Yay! Too bad Zidane couldn't control himself for about 10 more minutes. Maybe it would have been different. Horrible way to finish a career, too.

Congratulations Italy! They don't always played the best soccer but they played very clever with a very good defense and a excellent goal keeper. I'm glad for them to finally win the Cup after this legendary final in 1994 where they tragically lost against Brazil in the same 11-meter shooting by a miss shot of the possibly best player that year: Roberto Baggio.
As for Zidane I just can't understand how a world class player like him could act like that in his last match of his great career. It's just unbelievable and I'm sorry for him it happened like that.
All in all I think this World Cup 2006 was one of the best of all time with only the absolute top teams left in the quarter finals (except Ukraine) and many great matches till the end. It was a great time to follow it!
