I was thinking of TSA's clever "Gannon-Banned" site and I think Boco should start "Rockman-Banned!"
She has her pet peeves about people misidentifying characters, events, and plot points in the Mega Man/Rock Man series, so why not make it official and start "Rockman-Banning" people?
I can think of few things I've seen here:
-Mistaking Rockman X for the original Rockman
-Referring to "Mega Man and Forte" as "Mega Man 9"
-Confusing "Mega Man X" as "Mega Man 10"
-Calling the "Yellow Devil" the "Rock Monster" (I've done that)
-General misspellings, such as above. Officially, is it "Rock Man" or "Rockman"? I've always thought of "Mega Man" as two but that could be wrong too.
I'm sure there's more...
I'm certain that Rockman is one word and Mega Man is two words. Though not even the various games hold this consistency....
Oh, and "Mega Man and Forte?" Don't believe I've ever heard it called that name. >_>
Opinions follows.
I'll probably continue to do that too.
I prefer "Rockman" and "Mega Man". And after getting used to Rokkuman by acclimation to a certain anime, I prefer Rockman over Mega Man.
ROTFLMAO!
Soon as I saw this topic's title, I thought "Boco..." =P
Another one would be the Proto Man/Break Man thing...I can't believe some people still think they're two different characters...-_-
They kind of ruined the Breakman thing when they renamed Blues to Protoman.. because why would he have two ~man names? Breakman is to Blues as Rockman is to Rock.. but if Rock is Megaman, Protoman doesn't make sense being Breakman.

You'll end up banning the NES Game Atlus

It refers to it as the Rock Monster several times.
Since Nintendo promoted the name in several of their magazines...
It's very simple.
Dr. Light called him Protoman when he made him because he was his prototype. Protoman himself doesn't like that name, and renamed himself Breakman, and that is what you see him called in Megaman 3 in his own level.

Oops, I always thought that Blues's superhero name was "Bluesman" for some reason, and that "Breakman" was just some code name he used when he was working for Dr. Wily. Or was he ever working for Dr. Wily? The story of the third game was never very clear to me.
I think there's also some confusion about the Mega Buster (or Rock Buster). Some sites I've read that claim to have the official original story say that Mega/RockMan's gun has always been called the Mega/Rock Buster, but in Mega/Rock Man 4, it was upgraded to the Neo Rock Buster, hence its new charge-up capabilities. But a lot of American players believe his arm cannon wasn't called the "Mega Buster" at all until Mega Man 4, which it wasn't, at least not in any American documentation I've read. Mega Man 4's opening story mentions him going into battle equipped with his "new Mega Buster", where "new" could mean either that it's an all-new weapon, or that it's a new version of an existing weapon (so "new" would correspond to "Neo" in that case). But Mega Man's standard weapon is never referred to as anything but "P" in the first three games, which leads people to assume that it was just called a "plasma cannon" or "pea shooter" or something like that.

Dr Light and Dr Wily used to work together.
Dr Light created Protoman. Protoman somehow ended up in the area you see in MM3. Protoman changed his own name to Breakman.
Later on Megaman was created and MM1 and MM2 occur.
In MM3 Protoman/Breakman happens to find Dr. Wily who he remembers as his creator's partner. He has no idea what transpired. He sees some blue dude breaking Wily's stuff and goes to try and prevent him.
After your main fight, Protoman/Breakman apparently finds out what really is going on. He then rescues Megaman his brother after the place crumbles, but didn't find Dr Wily, and assumed him dead. Megaman finds out he has an older brother created before him that dissappeared before he was created.

Oh, okay, and I guess the manual explains the stuff about Dr. Wily supposedly turning good and Gamma keeping the peace and the miner robots going crazy and all that.
I keep wondering why they haven't pulled out JAZZMAN yet.
WHEN THE JAZZMAN'S TESTIFYING,
A FAITHLESS MAN BELIEVES.
HE CAN SING YOU INTO PARADISE
OR BRING YOU TO YOUR KNEES.

He worked for Wily in 3 and 4, which is why Wily says that he was betrayed at the end of 4 and frames Blues in 5. He only worked for Wily because Wily repaired him, and once Wily put a human in harm's way (Kalinka) he split.
This is true.
The "P" is for Player. Note that in the first two games, the intial is the name of the Robot Master that the weapon came from and has nothing to do with the weapon's name. For example, Leaf Shield -> W... that doesn't mean the weapon's name is Wood something.

The first Game Boy game's manual actually used the name "Plasma Cannon", so I always figured that was what the "P" in the early games was for...
"Player" would also make sense, though...since the subscreen displays a meter next to it like the other weapons, but P's meter indicates your remaining health...
