yeah, i dont know if this is a bug from my side or from the domain so here my problem: i put tasvideos.org as start up page in firefox.. but sometimes it puts a WWW. in front of tasvideos so that if to klick the redirceting link to the normal domain without WWW. so where does it come from? firefox? domain?

It's not a bug. It's a part of the domain. You don't need the www, it's superfluous and it creates additional work for the server.

When Firefox cannot find a DNS address, it automatically tries again by putting www. in the front of the address. It sounds like in your case, Firefox had trouble resolving the tasvideos.org DNS address. Others have reported similar problems recently. Maybe the DNS registrar I bought this address from is not very stable... Or maybe it's just a transitional problem somewhere else.

wow, that's a "feature" nowadays? anyway, while the DNS resolution isn't stable for me, I put this line into /etc/hosts 194.29.198.4 bisqwit.iki.fi tasvideos.org

You should just put a "http://" in front of "tasvideos.org/" and you shouldn't get any problems (in Mozilla Firefox for the startup page).

Nibelung: Actually, I was having problems loading the site sometime yesterday, and Opera performed no better than Firefox. I find Bisqwit's explanation the most likely one for that.

Actually, I think he was referring to Opera's lack of prepending "www." if it can't find a domain. (at least, this behavior is only exibited when first attempting to go to a new domain, not whenever the DNS can't be resolved) (also, who said Opera was ugly?)
