Great job so far, considering you don't have a gamepad. Did you use R to turn faster underwater when you got the honeycomb piece in spiral mountain? And an optimization I thought of would be that when you get the honeycomb above juju, to land on the edge of the platform and facing away, do Z+downC since the egg will be slow, and you can leave the platform sooner. while the egg bounces into juju's mouth. Plus it would look cooler :)

OH NO! I forget that egg farting movement :( Maybe I redo that part and rest of the stage :)

it works now. it didn't work before because i right-clicked the link and downloaded directly from here, that resulted in a weird m64 file which was only like 900 bytes.

I'd like to watch this TAS closely as it gets done, so I'd like to friendly request if you (or someone else) could also make/post savestates for each wip that starts where the wip before it ended. I tried to do it myself, but it didn't work. :( good luck on the progress!

What, making savestates doesn't work on your computer or something? It should be fine as long as you keep at least one savestate before any part that's going to be redone.

for anyone wanting video files because their computer can't emulate well, or for convenience, I'll be making videos as sami progresses. If the end of mumbo's mountain is going to be redone, no big deal, I'll redo it. http://tas.monotoli.org/mov/bk/ (thanks Spacecow for hosting!)

I finally got around to watching this, and I'm liking how it's turning out. Your movements seem smooth and well-planned (which is always the hard part of 3-D games) and you cleared Mumbo's Mountain in short order. Also, I don't know if this was brought up before, is there any way to keep the intro sound from desyncing with the video? I keep seeing Grunty leaving her chamber before she's finished speaking. I think this has been brought up before, but did anyone find a way around it? It hasn't affected the gameplay, thankfully so it's merely a cosmetic thing.

Making savestates to resume a movie didn't work for me either before, but actually it was just me who didn't understand exactly how to do.

Did you make sure read only is checked? That's usually what the problem is...

This run seems pretty good so far. What is the current WR for Mumbo's Mountain anyway, since I know the record for that world is highly competive. I always wondered why I was much slower than that since I always went straight for the talon trot by going beyond the bridge, then revealing all the jiggies and then collecting them all as a termite. The only thing I can say about it is that playing on a keyboard does make it a little tricky to fully optimize movement. Making a 100% run does make sense since the worlds are perfectly laid out in a way that everything can be done in one merry go round, but don't bother with the mystery eggs since they don't/never serve/d any purpose and you can also get them on a new file if you already have them on another file. Is skipping the gold feathers really worth it? Since it would help in disposing some enemies in minigames vey quickly, and isn't it needed to hurt Gruntdila. Anyway good job so far.

hmm.. is mumbo's mountain completed? don't you get all honeycombs for 100%? I'm sure they do for the level records that I know about. (n64highscores or so)

did you decide to not watch the m64 or the video I linked to? Sami gets all the collectibles in the first level. All.

I just checked again, and just before leaving the world, he picks up a 2nd honeycomb, but shouldn't there be 6? I haven't played BK in ages so I could be wrong, but if the level is complete I'd assume all 6 would have been collected..?

There are two in every level, to confirm this pause the game when the movie ends and check the inventory.

ok part02 is the updated mumbo's mountain all the way to ttc entrance. I'll make a part01 that will be from where you take control to mm's entrance. The first file was badly encoded anyway. http://tas.monotoli.org/mov/bk again, thanks to spacecow for hosting these. edit: possible improvements: spiral mountain: using R to turn faster underwater (save ~3 seconds) mumbo's mountain: make the hut breaking order 1. the one between mole and anthill as soon as you get the move required, ignore notes. 2-5. clockwise from the first one. that way the jinjo comes out to the right of mumb's hut, and can be collected after juju. is destroyed. that means the termite doesn't have to go so far out of its way for the jinjo jiggy. Notes from first hut could be collected when you arrive for 2-5. (I don't know how much this could save or if the route used is actually the best.) It's too late for this run I guess, but this is just my opinion. for any future runs. Also nice job saving a few seconds with the termite by jumping. :)

Good luck on this run. Just planning the route sounds like a nightmare.

I just found that if you hit A when you're right above the ground, you'll land after Kazooie exits the pack but before she starts to flap. This works going either up or down. Possible application:Use to land sooner when jumping between rolls. I think this will save at least 1.5s more, possibly as much as 5s. Method: near end of roll, jump, then hit A 4 frames or so later. You should land right away and be able to roll again, cutting out the slow flapping part of the double jump.
