It's called a desynchronization. Snes9x doesn't save some things that it should in the savestates, so when you load a savestate there is a small chance it will change what is supposed to happen, in a way that won't happen on playback. I don't know any better way of working around it than keeping a savestate at the start of each level and watching each level after you do it to make sure it didn't desynchronize. It is likely that you will have to redo bubble crab and everything after it, although you might be able to salvage something by doing some hex editing.

If you are doing Rockman X2 and you are serious about making a movie worth publishing, I recommend you check the existing Megaman X2 run and the Megaman X Tricks page . If you wish to help us (Graveworm and me) beat the current record, be warned that the current record is 32:23, and it is improvable by at least 30 seconds, and we have done part of it already. That said, I would like to see your run.

I had the exact same problem when doing DKC2 run, and after remaking the same stage over and over again for (or was it five) times, I just couldn't bear it and quit. I hope the same doesn't happen to you.
Which run should I encode next? :)

No, but it must be better than existing versions. It should also utilize techniques that are publicly known when the movie is made. Movies are often rejected if they don't do something good that they could do. What FractalFusion said is that he already knows of techniques that would make the currently published movie of MMX2 at least 30 seconds faster. So if you make a movie of MMX2, and it is not 30 seconds faster than the published movie, you fail. Regarding the desync issue -- if your movie does not work properly after a certain point, you must rerecord it. Note that you do not need to do it entirely over. Only the part that desyncs. http://tasvideos.org/UsingEmulatorTools.html#resuming_recording_

Whoops, I meant 20 seconds. But I'm confident the time saved will reach 30 seconds.
