True, and if I go ahead and play the whole game I will do so. I just wanted to quickly demonstrate the combo possibilities.
But I think his point was that on Level 7 they won't take as much damage. I agree that it will be faster (and more interesting) but it won't be quite as fast as you demonstrated.

Here's a one battle sample of what I'm talking about: http://www.feitclub.com/sf2.zip Ken vs Ryu, 2-0, both perfect. Timer was on 88 and 90, faster than any of those submitted. Why? Because of the combos, and not particularly advanced ones.
Gee, you are my new god. WOW WOW WOW. Bah, don't show me some obvious crap -- do that on the highest difficulty then. __I'm__ surely done with the game, and I'm not going to press load state 500times for one punch just so that the highest computer didn't manage to block the attack, which is what I think you have to do if you want it to look like that clip up there (I doubt it's possible to duplicate that on the highest comp.)

Maybe you don't understand. Combos CANNOT be blocked. All you have to do is land the first hit.

Er, I'm pretty sure the damage isn't the same between normal and high difficulty?!?! In normal you can knock off half the health in 3-4 hits (dizzy combo), but at level 8 you have no chance of knocking off that much. Plus I can't seem to play these vids, what's the precise rom they're done on? Btw, what are people's best ever win times? I've done a 94 ken vs bison (no states) on normal difficulty (but i always play 4 star turbo). I think Paul Tanney has done a 95 once 0_o. My next best is 92 Ken vs Zangief. Ryu is like totally the biggest bitch to kill fast =(

I've finished the game on lvl 7 difficulty (no save states) with only one continue. That's pretty much my only good "achievement".

Yes sorry, I read "Street Fighter 2" and thought it would be the same as the one I've played (SF2 Turbo, not World Warrior).. in that one, you do like half the damage that you normally do when you double the difficulty. It also runs a lot lot faster.

This is my currently status at StreetFighter2 at lvl 7. Much depends how the they move and so on. E.g: Guile, he is more like an defender and are dangerous in the air. Then we have Zangief that are really slow but have the strenght of a bear. And Blanka are just ugly. :) and so on. Blanka : 1: 85 2: 86 Guile : 1: 85 2: 83 E.Honda: 1: 84 2: 85 Ryu : 1: 85 2: 86 Chun Li: 1: 87 2: 83 Zangief: 1: 87 2: 85 Dhalsim:1: 87 2: 84 At lvl 7 the kicks and punches wont take so much as at lvl 3 which is normal difficulty.

I don't think difficulty affects the amount of damage you deal. See my above post for screenshot evidence. It takes longer because it's harder to land hits.

hmm.. I did some investigate and I figure it out that you are right. But playing at lvl3 and lvl7 are not the same. Try to hit someone who have reflexs of a eagle and are blocking all the time. :P I ended up with these results: Blanka : 1: 85 2: 86 Guile : 1: 85 2: 82 E.Honda: 1: 84 2: 85 Ryu : 1: 85 2: 86 Chun Li: 1: 87 2: 83 Zangief: 1: 87 2: 85 Dhalsim: 1: 87 2: 84 Balrog : 1: 87 2: 85 Vega : 1: 80 2: 83 Sagat : 1: 84 2: 85 M.Bison: 1: 82 2: 84

Why are your times for round 1 and round 2 different? If you get Dhalsim round 1 to 87, shouldn't you get round 2 too? I mean doesn't this clearly point out that you have not done the other round as fast as you could have? I don't know much about the game so don't mind if this doesn't make any sense.

Are you suggesting that the rounds be played identically? Theoretically it's possible, but what kind of video would that make? It's too bad we can't set the game for one round victory, which is possible in later versions.

If one wants to make an "as fast as possible" video then yes, the rounds should be played identically, using the fastest way. It is questionable, as you suggest, whether this would make an entertaining video. I myself am not interested in any kind of fighting game videos because of exactly this.

It also depends how my enemy act, if he move away from me or towards me. Anyway.. here is the smv http://frenom.areta.org/fmv/streetfighter2-frenom-u-ver3.zip .

Pretty nice, Frenom. I enjoyed your landing inside Dhalsim's Yoga Flame. Of course, there's still room for improvement, particularly on the bonus stages. Do you plan on continuing on this, or will you go back to Super Metroid?

Hopefully Frenom and I will do an new SM run together. I've already done a better beginning, and I pm:ed him about it.

Argh, you guys should play the Turbo version of this game. In Turbo, the game runs much faster, you can use vega/balrog/sagat/bison, Ken is faster than Ryu, you can do spin kicks in mid air, and lv8 difficulty is almost impossible :)

a timeattack using the "mega turbo" code in SFII Turbo would be the most awesome and hilarious thing ever.

What's a mega turbo? Is that a cheat/hack to make the game be even faster than it's supposed to be? I did a short run yesterday on normal difficulty where I averaged about 90 for each fight. Since you can slow down the game, even this "mega turbo" run can be accomplished :)
