Ok, This is my first attempt at a tool-assisted run,so be gentle. first off Aero Fighters is a fixed-scroll shooter, I picked this because of the sheer amount of enemys on screen at a time and because in the later levels it becomes EXTREMLY hard to dodge all the shots. This run takes all the way up to the second boss fight, though I want to redo the first stage completely for there is several mess ups and I know I can do it much faster The run aims for 1:No hits taken 2: 100% kill 3:No Bombs (yes in the first boss battle I use them but I would like to redo that stage anyway and think its better to not use them in general) 4: 1 Player plays two ships 5: Plays on hard Difficulty http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/580/Dantetheblack%20Aero%20Fighters%20%20%28U%29.smv I try to keep the game entertaning even though fixed scrollers make bad/boring videos. But it looked fun enough so tell me what you think.

I got a desync. Right where the player is supposed to pick up a powerup right before it goes off screen. md5: e6788aaf0979ca906038037fc343cd7f Aero Fighters (U).zip And it's spelled Laharl...

This movie was made with left+right enabled (although I don't know why). I'm guessing that's your problem.

I think you should reconsider this goal. The bosses take long enough to beat in Hard mode as it is without this limitation, and you have a limited supply of bombs so you would have to consider managing your supply of them and when it's best to use them. All of your other goals look good to me, though. Except maybe you should be more explicit about "100% kill" - you meant that you'll destroy everything, including non-enemy destructable objects, right? EDIT: Also, shouldn't "aims for fastest time" be one of your goals? It's an autoscroller, but it's still possible to lose some time in the levels and a lot of time in boss fights. About your run so far: First of all, I think it looks too obvious that one person is controlling both players. I mean when player one moves and shoots, then stops, then player two moves and shoots, then stops, then they both move in unison for a bit, then stop. It would look smoother if they appear to move more independently of each other, and didn't move in short one-directional jerks so much. It got a little better toward the end, though, but still not what it could be. Besides that, I noticed that the secondary weapon that shoots those 4 or 6 mini-bombs is causing the game to lag whenever you fire it (from too many sprites onscreen), so maybe a different weapon/country is better for that plane to avoid slowing down the game too much. It looks like you're being overly cautious about dodging enemy shots - for instance, the first boss battle looked much longer than it needed to be because of waiting for shots to go away.

I have been working on making it much more natural and that will become more present on the next stages thanks ... yes I mean destroy everything poss. ..I can put aims for fastest time ..and most likely will. ..The Bombs will hurt more then help ... they do less damage then the regular upgraded shot and the player 2 bomb stops time ..The homing missles where almost required to get a 100% kill on stages 4 and 6 plus they save me the trouble of chasing straggler planes I know the first stage was pretty bad and I am still comtemplating on keeping it or redoing the run altogether, but I thought the second stage went alot smoother and the third is looking pretty good.. Beside the mistakes already mention any others or anything you want to see?

An Aero Fighters TAS? You've got my full support in doing this TAS, because this has been one of my favourite games on the Super Nintendo. ^^ I know you'll do a great job with two players. Will you be doing a seperate video of the boss endurance mode? P.S. I'm working on my first TAS too, so just try your hardest and you'll do great! ^^ Besides, you can always re-record to make things better, so if at first you don't succeed, re-re-record again! =P

I hadnt thought of doing a endurance run ..I might start one on the first stage to see what you guys think (after Im done with this run) would you want it to be no shots on anything or just boss battle.

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/643/Dantetheblack%20Aero%20Fighters%20%20%28U%29.smv there we go ..Just beat the 3rd boss ..The biggest problem I keep running into is the fact that when you shoot you fire 4-8 shot segments ( not including missles or side beams and what-not .. I also cut down on the avoidable left-right jerky movements ..but I thought I could take out the annoying side cannons by doing a quick shot that direction and turning back to attack the plane comming on screen. ( so with Hein's missles would go after him instead of the oncomming plane) I just noticed that my run is just under 7 min long ..the total run shouldnt be over 15 min ( So it will be over just before It gets boring ^_^)

http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/668/Dantetheblack%20Aero%20Fighters%20%20%28U%29.smv stage 4 complete -damn ...that was the first one I had some trouible with, the enemys fire as the come on screen ... and the boss spawns copters at some points in which I killed all who where on screen for at least a frame ( there was one who was spawnd the in 4 frames went off the screen) as a warning ..anyone who has a family history of seizures might want to practice caution when watching the boss battle Edit: Restarted Run

So how is this run going? I'm really looking forward to seeing it finished. For fun I gave this game a try for a quick TAS of two levels. Unfortunately it's on normal difficulty. (besides: what's the difference? the strength of bosses? I think there weren't really more bad guys onscreen than in 2-player hard. or maybe it's just me) anyway: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1670/aerofght_level_1_and_2.smv ....yes, that's a bad TAS. it's not even worth to be called a TAS... on the other side, it's just for fun and my first touch with a selfmade TAS, so I'm excusing myself here ;-) ah, yes for some strange reason, I enabled left+right too...

I think there's a SUPER HARD difficulty

I dont know About super hard mode .. But some diffrences on hard 1.More enemys ... more scroll enemys will come out ( one the first stage there is a lot more that appear when the turrets are firing) and generators will come out slightly faster. 2. Smarter? enemys... Enemys who come on screen start shooting faster and will sometimes change patterns ... and More enemys will shoot instead of just being fodder. 3. Tougher enemys... While Most still only take one shot it seems that the larger enemys as well as bosses take a little more time to kill.[/img]

This game is very similar to Strike Gunner, which is another auto-scroller for the SNES. For Strike Gunner, you can pick a special weapon to use at the start of each level. There's much more variety, and in my opinion, to strategically pick weapons to suit the level and it's boss, make it more interesting. Do we need another side-scroller though? I'm not against this, but seeing as we already have Gradius video, I have second thoughts about this.

You know what's funny? There is a super hard cheat, I'm 99% sure bout that, but I don't remember the code and it's not described anywhere... I remember it clearly: this game had 3 cheats, two of them are well known: "boss rush" and "the bunnies"... well, one is missing, and it must be "super hard"

I decided to take a quick stab at this game and there's quite a bit of potential here. I may end up taking on this game, despite the fact that I'd never played it before. I'd play as the British pilot, for a few reasons. First, he's the slowest. He's harder to maneouver, which also hopefully means more entertaining when you pull crazy stunts. Second, his secondary weapon is clearly the most powerful, meaning boss battles will go much faster with him. I don't know enough about the game to give these as definite goal, but so far I'd say my goals are the following: - 100% kills - Fastest time (at least for bosses and minibosses. The rest is scrolling by the looks) - Use death as a shortcut The reason for the last one: When you die, your bombs replenish. So if I run out of bombs on a boss, I'll die to spawn more, if it's reasonable to do so.

Wow. It is incredibly hard to get 100% kills with the slowest plane. I think I've almost got all the ones in the next area. So far there's always one or two that slip by.

http://hyena.kiwibonga.com/Aerofght.smv Okay, I found a way to kill all those massive amounts of enemy jets with the slow plane. The answer: Kill myself so that it spawns a weapon powerup, which gives me spreadfire. I had to pick a very very specific moment to do so, because the death/respawn sequence takes a while and any other place I would have missed some enemies.
