So I just completed my Metal Slug 1 run - woohoo! But, the submission manager will not accept the Finaburn Alpha's .fr files, zipped or no. I dont have any filespace to host it on, so it is kinda stuck in limbo for a while. Too bad, cause its a tight run, I kill _every single_ enemy. It takes about 16:30. Anyone know the records on this game?

Link didn't work for me. EDIT: Yeah, my fault. Will check out. Thanks. EDIT2: Got everything working and watched it. Nice job, this game is a lot of fun to watch. It's like Contra only with bigger sprites and better animation. Obviously there is a lot of room for improvement if you were to time attack. In particular, I would ignore as many enemies as possible to complete the stages faster. Likewise, try not to rescue so many hostages as that slows the end-level bonus counter. However, in it's present state it's really cool. Thanks for doing this.

Absolutely, for a pure speed run, i would not kill the enemies, but as i said in this run every single enemy is killed which is kind of a feat! :) Hostages too, you're right, i should have planned better, could take off like 10s off final time. I think a pure speen run would take about 15 min. But it would ignore many enemies and may not be as fun to watch. But who knows? OK, on to metal slug 2 :)

Sorry, devin. I can't your recording to run. I'm using FB alpha 0.2.94.98. Metal slug will run fine, but when I run the recording I get an unrecoverable error ("Guru meditation #..."). Is this the version of FB alpha you were using?

I'm using whatever version is posted in the "other games" category, let me check...yeah its the same version. It's possible that the download messed up, or (always good to check) you did unzip it right? :) sometimes its stuff like that you know. If it continues to not work, theres not much i can do. At some point hopefull an avi will be available, and theres one built into this FBA so lets just cross our fingers and hope.

Right, got it now. I hadn't noticed blip's little creation in the other games forum. The FBA I was working with was from the official site. Silly me =) Watching now....

Either you didn't quite delete the post, or this guy is serious in his aversion to the fine arts of tool-assisted speed-running. I say have your way with him, Bisqwit.

Not currently. As I don't know practically *anything* about this Finalburn alpha thing or of the system it possibly emulates, I'm not having supporting it in very high priority for my site.
