I remembered having heard of people who use a special Game Boy software to create their own songs, using original Game Boy and cartridge sounds. Wikipedia spat out the (most popular's) software's name is LittleSoundDJ. Popular artists (to be exact: the only ones I found with their songs downloadable online) are Nullsleep, USK, Covox and Bit Shifter among others. They collaborate under the name of 8bitpeoples. I don't mean to advertise too much, but you should give Nullsleep's (or any 8bitpeoples' artists!) songs a try.. I'm going to listen to 8bp-nullsleep-destination_tomorrow_[gb_version].mp3 until my head explodes. Which brings up the question: Does anybody know, if one of these artists or any other chiptune musician can be seen in Germany/ Central Europe? Just imagine: Dressing up like this, getting boozed up and finally losing mental health. AWESOME More info: Chiptune Bitpop Gamewave

I have a big collection of both bitpop albums and separate chiptune tracks. Not that I like most of them, but some are really good.

You hit it spot on with Welle: Erdball! Thanks a bunch! They are touring through Germany, maybe I'll go see them when they drop by in Augsburg on 20th October. It may not be Game Boy chiptune, but it's C64 music + analog synths nontheless, so it should still have that weird nostaliga video game sound.

I downloaded the entire 8bitpeoples site a while back, then steadily deleted the annoying ones. Anything by x|k is pure gold.

That's what I'm doing now. 2 gigs worth of music.. equals about 30 hours of listening in this case. Quite a lot of tunes to sort for quality. I'm impressed though, loads of good stuff in there. And yes, x|d (i.e. Psilodump) kicks ass! My fav still is Nullsleep - Destination Tomorrow [GB Version] though.
