I. Don't. Like. Hip. - . Hop. This, however, works. I'm gonna study the lyrics, then proudly stand up, yelling "Holy shit, I learned another soooooooooooong".

Hmm... wow. This is awesome. I usually can't stand rap (I usually go for metal or some other kind of hard rock)... yet I like this album very much.

I'd have to say this is some impressive stuff, the song My Voice and oh, the mallet one, How It's Done.. I love that mallet... I would have to say they're all good in their own way, and I was very happy to hear through it the first time, but too much cursing was involved.. Dunno, I'm not real vain about stuff like that, but excessive use I can't take too much of. There's so many other words and I feel it's better to save the the expletives for a better time, especially in a song, not to overuse them, cuz excessive cursing seems to just cater to kids really. DMC didn't really have to curse to become liked by many, and i wish other mc's with talent like you would do similar. There's too many words to let 7 special words take over all your tracks.

Thanks again for the comments, everyone. :) I really like that I'm getting responses along the lines of "I don't like hip-hop, but I like this." Makes me feel like I did a really good job. gamedirector, I'm curious if you listen to much other hip-hop? I comparatively cuss quite a bit less.

Not really my cup of tea, but not bad at all. I tried fronting a band in college, but I couldn't produce the requisite gutteral screams that our music required ... that and I just wasn't very good. Keep up the good work though. If you do an album entirely dedicated to tasing and retrogames, we might see you at e3 or defcon one day :)

Any chance JXQ will have a rap battle with Dahv?

Wow, I've never heard of Dahv before, but I think JXQ would win hands down. I hope I'm not insulting any fans here, but this girl's like a third rate Criss Cross :P (ah, flashback to 1990 ... when wearing your clothes backwards was cool ... wait, that was never cool)

I listen to some, and you're right you cuss a lot less, and best of all you've got something to talk about other than your bling bling and your time spent on death row, but I guess it's cuz I only listen to the really oldskool i guess.. You have a very different sound in all your songs, maybe your own sound. I'd kinda wish it wasn't a world where everyone has to compare you to eminem cuz he doesn't have talent and I can't imagine a time when he ever did, but you have that talent. I do some music too, but it's not the hippity hoppity, I try to make them all sound different. I'd go on, but this thread's about you and your passion or whatnot. You have a great one and I look forward to future updates, d00d.

I have listened to quite a variety of song categorys. Such as techno, rap, dance or anything that I actually like for basically as long as a time as you. I must say, it is better than alot I have heard. Have you heard of Class?(aka classified) his song the maritimes he raps about what its like to have a party where hes from(the same area as me) which is awesome. But ah, yeah. Ive listened to the first 3 songs on your CD and I like them. Great work. You could definatly make the big bucks if you wanted to. Your voice seems really natural for rapping. When I listen to more tracks I will post again but man, is it cool is I put these songs on my Ipod? As you can tell I really like them.

Oh yeah, you can put the songs on your ipod, or burn cds, make copies for whoever you feel like, or really whatever you want to do with them.

Thanks man :) My delivery used to be my obvious weak point, but I have been able to work on it some over the years. I'm glad you enjoy the songs!

No problem man, I really like this. The chorus of "My Voice" is stuck in my head. That's my favorite song so far. I also like the Gradius reference :)

The track "What's up" is now my favorite rap song of all time. You kick some ass man! But, since I am really bad at picking out lyrics while listening, i had to look at the lyrics while i listened(I always had to do that with any song) and the beat syncs is so well. You have some real talent bro. Both at singing, writing, and producing.

I agree with Nick here, I think What's Up is probably my favorite too. Definitely wins the lyrics department, anyway.

Yeah, What's up has the best lyrics, but "My voice" has a nice beat.

Loved the beat, it reminded me of that good old west coast gangsta rap. Actually everything about it was good . I liked the game references too, like the blaster master line... Im not sure what the entire phrase said but i heard blaster master... I like it! Keep on the good work, JXQ, i am once again imppressed.

Hello party peoples. I've done some revamping on my website. I linked everything together to be found here: http://jxq.skuzz.com. Hopefully things look a little better, especially the TAS page. The reason I'm posting is because I also put up the album I did before My Voice. It can be found on the main page, or directly linked to here - My Words. I finished My Words in late 2003, almost three years before finishing My Voice. So if this doesn't seem up to par with My Voice, that is probably why. I also added a third page with a few other songs available for download. Feel free to comment on anything.

Your talents are endless, it appears. I stumbled across this topic after you wrote in it and I really enjoy what I hear... basically, JXQ, you spit hot fire. I can honestly say I am generally more entertained by your rapping than most of Tupac's rapping, however that may be because I am a white guy living in the middle of Wisconsin ^_^; Anyways, excellent work and I hope you continue to make excellent songs!

Seems your site is a little more organized and straight forward when it comes to content, you know, it's all right there. Then there's your personalized layout on the TAS page which is awesome but I had a thought, about how you used the Super Mario font on the movie info for all movies. Maybe for the different consoles than NES you could use a font of a popular game for that system (e.g. SNES=SMW, Genesis=Sonic, GBA=Who Knows?) to lay out the movie info. Or maybe not considering it may look like shit and chances are you thought about that. Regarding your music talents. Even though I'm not really a fan of Hip Hop/Rap, I find myself growing towards it as time goes on so I'll probably check out more of your work. That's about it. Keep doin' what you do, it's all good.

I'm hard to control like the jeeps in Halo
Call me if your skill level ever levels up to this shit
So I tell her she looks sluttier than Christie from Tekken
It's important that you're sportin' killer instincts like Orchid
*Large portions of the "Dear Kitana" song*
Any references I missed there? Focus The music is not my style, but quite good for an amateur production. The lyrics seem contrived in parts; more of what you believe a tough rapper would say in a situation than your genuine, honest reaction.

Thanks for the comments guys. Ironslayer, there are more references. "Just a Game" from My Words, and "Now Loading" from extra songs both focus heavily on them, and "My Voice" from My Voice has a few in the 2nd verse. There may be more that aren't coming to mind at the moment.

Rofl, that's a joke. Eminem doesn't have talent? You clearly have no idea about what you're talking about dude. Eminem is the only talented commercialized rapper who doesn't rap about bling and hoes. 90% of his lyrics have meaning. Please GTFO. Judging by your poor misinformed point, I guess you think 50 Cent is the best rapper ever. LOL.

My respect for Eminem's skill disappeared when I first listened to Encore. I realized that he's just as repetitive as those other mainstream rappers, he just chose different subjects to repeat than most. If deep and personal lyrical content is what you search for, I highly recommend some Joe Budden mixtape tracks, especially those off of Mood Muzik part 2.
