I've been hired by a local business to make a website for the product they sell. I'm trying to make some posters for instore advertising of the website, but the problem is i'm a web designer, just not a graphics designer. I've got a basic layout made, but i need some help making it look a little prettier. http://www.pillow-talk.ca/pillowtalkca.jpg (the file is MUCH larger than your browser window, need it that size to print it well) If you have Paint Shop Pro XI, you can get my original here http://www.pillow-talk.ca/pillowtalkca.pspimage I'm open to suggestions, or if anyone wants to take a crack at making it look better, i'd love to see it!

Sorry to ask but, do have some sort of university degree? Graphic design and Institutional design (dealing with logos, brands, and everything related to the company's brand style) should be handled by an apropriate professional. It's not a matter of knowing the tools (the programs) but knowing, amongst other things, that there are many important rules underlying a brand which must be followed when dealing with it. But well, since it's not a regulated profession on most places in the world (it would be otherwise prohibited for anyone without a degree to work on it, like it is with medicine, architecture, etc), i guess the company can hire anyone for whatever price they want. But most of the time the work isn't done very with the required consistece by these people (obviously) so the profession as a whole loses. I'm sorry to rant like this, it's not your fault, it's just what's been happenening for the past couple of years with all these computer graphics programs flying around. That being said, i'll give you a tip on that jpg you posted. You need to choose what's more important and make the other elements less important. Everything is getting the same visual weight and that doesn't look good.

There might be copyright issues to worry about as well. I'm not able to view your jpg, it's timing out.

sorry, here's a much better URL to work with. http://www.pillow-talk.ca/pillowtalkca.jpg (the file is MUCH larger than your browser window, need it that size to print it well) If you have Paint Shop Pro XI, you can get my original here http://www.pillow-talk.ca/pillowtalkca.pspimage As far as the copyrights, 75% of that image is Copyright ME. The other 25% is owned by the business i work for, it was purchased from the artist who made it for the business. The purcahse of the Copyright was important, exactly for this purpose. Sorry about the bad links guys, i forgot i already had it hosted.
