I would’ve voted no if it were a new submission, but it being an improvement I don’t see how it can’t be accepted…

where can I find an older version of Hourglass…? I’ve deleted mine when I downloaded r81 I’ve tried downloading a clean RG 1.05 but that didn’t help either

RotateGear (rg_105) still works fine for me. I even tried on a Windows 7 x64 system with r81 and it worked. Make sure you're hitting Record and not Play, and make sure the "Paused" box isn't checked in Hourglass after you press some buttons. Try waiting until it says "Action Love!", then press Z or X.
I do “Run and record new movie”, Hourglass isn’t paused (I wouldn’t hear the music nor would it go through the menus, would it?), but pressing Z or X does nothing… I don’t understand why… :/ it still works fine with Ninja Senki

what the fuck @ais: but doesn’t that mean that instead of the TAS being console verified, the TAS is slightly changed to be made console verifiable?

seems like it anyway, I wanted to dump some info: I’ve been racing this game, and somehow got a huge damage boost off of an enemy one time… I was shooting at more or less the same time, but I’m not sure how it happened. I think I was pressing right without jumping

Talked to Nothing (Japanese TASer) recently. He said that 25 stars were done in the "120 stars" TAS. They are currently in DDD, improving the 100 coins star.
I remember from the WIP encode you posted of the first few stars, your names were listed as contributors.
probably due to hexing

lately I’ve gotten into DKC2 speedrunning, so I got interested into watching this again… there are a few places where it looks improvable, I didn’t write any as I was watching though but there’s a comment on the vid that says: “I'm no expert on this game's mechanics, but could the second part of the King Zing Sting boss fight at 20:50 be completed faster by luring him downwards during this part? It seems like his death animation would be shorter if he was further down.” is that wrong? edit: just remembered Bramble Blast, I’ve seen speedrunners suicide to skip parts of the barrels, which looks faster but I can’t be sure, as this actually been tested? also starting the level with Dixie lets you skip 2 barrels I think, but I don’t know how kong management goes then edit2: to be more specific, at 10:53 in the video, you could suicide, take the DK barrel and use the invicibility to shoot through the bee, but I don’t know if it’s faster. and maybe a skip could be possible at 10:38? but I haven’t seen anyone do it there

been playing your run, and I notice there are some parts where you run a lot without doing air dashes… why is that? I still have never played Colors, but at least in Rush Adventure doing continuous air dashes was faster than simple boost running also noticed you don’t do the restart trick in act1… (is that faster in the first place?) so far my attempts at finding the RNG have failed edit: while TAing the 2nd boss, I found that you can go through the floor if you air dash against the invisible wall and do the stomp a little before landing http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/9371/wata.jpg I wonder if this could be useful somewhere? edit: lol, I think this could be used as entertainment instead of always running around like mad… actually I think it’d make the run slower, the strategy should be jumping on top of the first pirate thing then air boosting into the second edit: by the way, I tested a lot and in your current WIP the 2nd boss attacks ASAP, you can continue TASing it

the first bunny desynched in the worst way possible… http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/742688681/total.dsm to try and fix it I found the RNG, but we haven’t tested much yet and it’ll probably be too hard for us to manipulate the rabbit, but it does look very possible at least

I just got 308 by using tab to select "click here" then held enter while clicking on it as well.
hmm, I got 604 combining it with autofire, also somehow got 303 with just click autofire

You understand that in nature animals kill other animals for food all the time, sometimes even in the most gruesome and tortuous ways? Exactly how is that any less "immoral" than humans killing animals for food? Mistreatment and unnecessary suffering may be seen as immoral, but considering simply eating animals as immoral is just outright hypocrisy IMO. Humans eating animals is exactly as natural as any other animal eating animals.
Killing isn't immoral for animals because they don't know that it's wrong. It's wrong for humans because we know that it causes suffering. Right and wrong (morality) have almost the same meaning as the words pleasure and pain, in case you're wondering what I mean.
And where do you draw the line? Is killing flies immoral? Cockroaches? Bacteria? Worms?
How immoral it is to kill depends essentially on the inherent consciousness of the creature that we kill. Animals are conscious of feelings and can feel pain, so it's wrong to kill them. Humans are conscious of even more things, like thoughts, so it's even more wrong to kill humans.
(I'm also very tempted to draw a comparison to another regular visitor to this forum, but I'll pass on that as well.)
I don't think there's anything wrong with eating carrots/plants though, because they aren't conscious of feelings like pain.
this is a good post, I agree edit: no idea why the font is so big

no, I mean doing the 8star door skip from a corner adjacent to the door, which would be faster than the current method, but the best we got was a glitched death… I don’t know why, but there’s no loading area behind any of the characters’ doors David TAS’d up to Mario’s outside http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/420172550/new.dsm

we’ve tested a lot trying to glitch next to the 8star door, but it doesn’t look possible http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/228883289/new1strat2.dsm bunch of improvements, I think David hexed up to Gomboss win

@Warp: I always thought the point was that we can live without it, while for animals it’s a necessity to hunt

can you post a .dsm of your run? I wanted to try finding the RNG, but without a save nor run I’m guessing it would take me some time to get to a boss to test it

somehow MKDasher improved my 1star door entry by 4 frames O_o I kept working on SSL’s star, and with better optimization in the SK at the start, I saved a further 14 frames, bringing the star down to a time of 8″08 (unless I miscalculated). the goal is to sub 8″, now the star’s pretty good unless an even newer strategy is found, so I’ll be happy with a sub total frames saved in the SSL star compared to published movie: 44 frames says MKDasher edit: not much point in hiding the .dsm anymore, so here what we did so far: http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/161597870/1star.dsm
