I haven't seen the run yet, but I don't think that feeding coins mid-game to gain advantage is acceptable. It's basically an unlimited lives cheat when playing on an emulator, since you have an infinite number of coins on your disposal.
that doesn't make any sense, you could have a lot of coins IRL too, and you would never be using more than a hundred or so even if you purposefully tried to die at every second

I'm not sure about the dirty SRAM, but the run was entertaining I guess

made my own Swim or Sink TAS, but ended up tying the other TASer's time, I guess it's maxed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdExX7cdPCQ http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1659024448/Swim%20or%20Sink%2020.63.dsm again you need a save with minigame unlocked I TAS'd 30% then noticed it was pretty long and boring, and started writing the remaining 70% with WordPad, much quicker

funny, after a quick calculation, it seems like the best Count 'Em Up can go is 9800 or 9900, missing by 2 or 1 the max of 9999 haha will be trying to find the RNG to see if there's any way to max it, would require almost certainly impossible "luck"

I'd be interested in seeing, and possibly making, some IL TASes of the many challenges this game has (with which I mean time attack and the like) I'm sure Ryuto is interested aswell

so it was bad planning? or does continuing give better power ups saving time? I don't remember how that part of the TAS played out and don't feel like rewatching it, but if it was bad planning it's a shame it can't be edited, still not a reason for rejection in my opinion

1-coin runs are spectacular when a human makes them, in a TAS they're just meh – I perfectly know it's possible and there are already 10 minutes or so of never getting hit so I don't see your point, using continues to save time is smart and is what a TAS should be doing, there is no challenge in beating the game with 1 coin for a TAS, I don't see how that can look entertaining edit: though about the person who said "why not use more lives at the start" I agree with and didn't understand x2poet's explanation

I just want to point out that there are 31 yes votes and 9 no/meh combined clearly everyone going "continues aren't entertaining" are a minority

In an arcade game, especially one such as this, 1CCing it (even better if you didn't die) is far more entertaining to watch than sloppy death and continuing, even if there is a speed tradeoff.
not in my opinion, that's subjective

Continue is more equal to cheating, actually. In this case, the cheats in question would be infinite lives and spawning powerups from nowhere. Also, what moozooh said.
ehm, excuse me? you can do it in a real arcade, how is it cheating in any way? it's just a trick to go faster

^wouldn't the real time and in-game time difference make the runs different enough from each other?

I agree with Kirkq (I think), Megaman Normal and Hard are both legitimate categories (Normal in-game time and Hard real time), I think Normal would be more interesting so it can be compared to the human speedruns

you can use coins in an arcade, the run does nothing illicit? I don't see the problem with using continues, human players can too, you need coins to start the game anyway so saying it's bad because you use coins doesn't make sense about the "super" and "cheap", I thought it was very smart when I saw him abuse death in the TAS, it looked "super" to me

I think this game could be interesting to TAS, it's also challenging to optimize I made a IL Acrobat Wheel 20"35 TAS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR2lqu3SUrI http://dehacked.2y.net/microstorage.php/info/1322988693/Acrobat%20Wheel%2020.35.dsm you need a save with that minigame unlocked human record is 22"86 by me also working on Rainin' Bombs IL, but that takes forever edit: just found this one YT, many minigames TAS'd there's also Acrobat Wheel but it's just a 21"xx, it does use a strategy that's better than mine in one place I think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwHhCQMBrUo and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqT--Qe_jGA edit2: Acrobat Wheel can definitely go sub 20", but it's too boring for me to try again

sorry for the possibly stupid question, but am I supposed to replace the DeSmuME.exe with this or what?
