I've been wanting to TAS some games, but they aren't supported. Are flash games or games coded in Java going to be worked on, or will there never be comparability?

Being the idiot that I am, I accidentally started my short and sloppy TAS on HLE audio and used a different dolphin version than usual. Now it desyncs and crashes while dumping. Guess I'll just start the real one soon.

So basically every time I do a room, I should replay the video I've recorded? If so, that would mean I'd have to play the entire video from the very start every time... or can I just do "start recording" and load the save state at the beginning of the room and it'll run fine?
You'll need to save the movie when you want to check, then choose "play recording" as load the savestate. Using "start recording" wouldn't load it in read-on so it would just start recording from that savestate.

I always hear people say "I could care less", it sounds a bit nicer. But I refuse to say it, as it makes it seem like I actually care.

Get over it kirby, real men don't need fancy builds that delete the save before playing the movie back. Oh and good luck.

This is probably really straightforward, but I'm new to this. The only functions I know of are the memory.readword() type things that all return ints. Basically I need to read 4 bytes as a float. I need it so I can reload a state and save waiting through a lot of time whenever the speed is too low to work while brute-forcing superswims.

I'm in on helping with some short tedious bits. If I had a better understanding of the game mechanics I would do more.

I'd say we're taking a break, but I don't think we'll be coming back to work on so, yeah progress has been stopped, mainly due to loading times / TASvideo rules. if we ever start it up again we'll be starting on a card that already beat the game and hopefully someone will have somewhat fixed the horrible loading times by then.
I would be happy to make a verification movie for the memory card if you would like. The load times on the other-hand, I cannot help you with.

I really hate to pressure you, but I want to get back to work on TWW and I don't have the patience to do several thousand rerecords on a single superswim and spend several hours optimizing it, an i have around 80 left... I'm currently on spring break and would like to be productive. If there could be any way you could fix the crashing I would be more than happy to try to get input working for hours and hours. I know I sound really nagging right now, but I have no chance of optimizing this bullshit without some form of automation.

Sweet! I'll test in as soon as I finish my homework lol. Also, how would I apply this to my current build?

Oh my, this looks ridiculous. There is no need for you to put yourself through this. I'm sure a lot of it is outdated and it just seems like too much work for a single person. I may take a crack at implementing specific features though. Only very basic things. Considering I know neither language, it should end horribly. I understand why it was scrapped. Seems like it was an all or nothing decision though, as I'm sure some basic things worked fine, considering how it lasted several years. At its current state, assuming it builds fine and gives no errors, do you think it would be able to write to a movie and sync? Also, would just adding lua cause desyncs to existing movies?

Yeah, I noticed a todo about investigating a memory leak from loading states... Seems like fun. If only I could find a list of all the lua functions that were available for Dolphin, even if they didn't function properly.

The last revision I could find it in is r7049. The next available revision is r7058. Either it was removed, or it was moved to some spot I can't find. It does fit the time frame in the issue https://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/issues/detail?id=3287&can=1&q=lua, where on Feb 3, 2011 it is said that lua had been removed. I believe lua was originally added in an unofficial build 4525, which I cannot find (some info here: http://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-dolphin-emu-team-unofficial-build-4525). Edit: Here's the changelog for removing Lua: https://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/source/detail?r=dfe84ce0acf288157a867f0df1678930b281fd40&path=/Source/Core/DolphinWX/Src/PHackSettings.cpp

From what I understand, lua was once integrated into Dolphin (even if it was poorly done). Would it be a large task to bring it back, if only to read values, do pre-determined inputs based upon those, and to load/save states? Of course it would need to have the inputs saved to the .dtm. It sounds like it would be quite a large task, but it would greatly benefit most, if not all, Dolphin TASers (specifically me). I know very little on this and so I'm assuming it is possible to export those specific functions. If not, I'll have to see how much it is possible to manipulate using cheat engine. I doubt it would be possible to frame advance or use savestates though.

A friend of mine asked how I liked the episode, when I told them I hated it they were dumbfounded. I asked what the spell was supposed to do and they said it was a spell for friendship. I then asked why starswirl the bearded would work on a frienship spell, as he had never been mentioned as doing anything of the sort. She had no response. Even people who liked the episode have no idea what the fuck happened. About the background characters and ponies acting inconsistent, how about Spike? He seemed to be immune to the spell like Twilight (bullshit excuse is he was inside the library). Also, since the realization of their talents came from the sonic rainboom, it must have changed history. But if it was changed, it makes no sense how they could "remember" their talents. Also, since when does magic have to be read and not use her horn (atleast I don't remember her horn glowing)?

Great TAS, crazy entertainment. I say use whatever version is the fastest for running. Especially if that version is used by console runners as well. As long as it's not beta or anything, it is an official release and I see no reason why you should pick the latest version. It also causes the issue of TASes becoming outdated based on the version they were played on simply because of an update.

Whaaat? Get outta here, that's just crazy.
Yeah, using this route: Link to video Also, I don't think I can manage to fit BiT into the TAS. The only method of BiT that let's you save without dying inside of BiT is activating BiT after dying (I hope that makes sense). I can still try messing around, but it just doesn't seem worth it. Here's what I had done, to show off what I was trying to do. Link to video

I've done a bit more any% TASing. Fun news: I've started a playaround TAS. Since it is for entertainment, I'm doing it on Japanese. Anyone have any requests of what to put in? I don't have a full route yet, I'm just going for it.

Lol, I guess. I just can't do all the testing fast enough on LLE. And don't even think about mentioning... console testing.

Compared to the entire universe, the earth is infinitesimally small.

Why isn't that already in Dolphin? If loading a different state crashes, whats the point of them being stored together? Seems kinda important to me.
