I still need to play around with the game and watch the movie through, I'll comment then. Maybe today.

Would it be possible to make a build that would save states for LLE and HLE separately? It would be cool to not be limited to overwriting LLE saves with crappy HLE testing saves. It also sucks loading the wrong one and crashing D:

Just do it the old fashioned way, input by input. You've been spoiled with NES TASing. If you start doing something like GameCube or n64, there is no TAS editor.

Oh, I forgot something: Before people tell the judges to place this in the vault, the vault only allows "Any%" and "100%" runs:
Goal choice is limited to fastest completion time (any%), or full-completion (such as 100% or best ending).
So that leaves it to the moon category. In that case, it would be better off as a playaround or seomthing, not a speedrunning TASing record.
Why thank you for telling us what not to tell the judges. It's nice to know that you find the judges incompetent and not knowing their own rules.

I voted yes because this was entertaining. As others have said, further optimizations look possible. Also, I see more room for entertainment and art or screwin around, w/e you call it. This seems like a really good start if you are going to do an all levels run ;)

The audio dump in this game seems to desync no matter what. When I tried with the normal build and the avsync build they both had desyncs. I can try again later though.

Yeah, if you say what game it is, I'd be happy to look at it to help find an alternative. I have nothing better to do ;)

Submission of the year right here. "Movie begins from a reset; should begin from power-on." I got this to sync on svn203, I couldn't find VBA-rerecording193. I'm not qualified to tell how good this is, since I know very little about Kirby games. It seems decent, but I don't feel like watching the whole thing right now.

but one example is in the center of the universe on the last planet fighting Bowser, once he sends out those rings from stomping on the ground, he starts rolling, get hurt by one of the rings on purpose. He stops and goes ahead and does the jump on you so you can make him jump on the circle and so on and so forth throughout the battle. Thats one that even yoshifan didn't use.
This seems to already be known. It sounds a lot like what can be found here: http://speeddemosarchive.com/MarioGalaxy.html
Bowser phase 3: for some reason, if Bowser is doing his rolling attack and you get hit by something other than his rolling, Bowser will start his jumping attack.
It looks like he did do this actually: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=se_GnkrOiUg&list=PL872A3F56C81A2D19&feature=player_detailpage#t=330s

The Earth is physically large, but the world of people is small. We are all connected through the internet and through other people. Just on this site, there are many people from around the world. We can travel across the world in milliseconds via the internet. Not only that, but with airplanes and cars, we can traverse huge distances in such little time. Because of this, I call the world small.

When one is small, the world is huge. Over time you realize how small and connected the world actually is.

Welcome to TASVideos! All I can say is you seem very ambitious and hopefully that will get you far in your work. Dolphin may not be the most reliable, but it works to an extent. I personally haven't done SMG, but hopefully it will sync reliably enough in the near future for a full TAS. I've got to tell you though, TASing is not only tough work, but takes a lot of practice. When you make your first TAS, it most likely won't be optimal to the fullest extent. Even though you've been TASing for 3 years, if you haven't been in a community like TASVideos (which I don't know of any others), then you haven't met the wrath of other users for squeezing out every single frame possible. Adventures in the Magic Kingdom is on the list of bad game choices, so you won't have to worry about speed/entertainment trade-offs. Donkey Kong Country 3 has already been TASed on SNES, I'm not sure of the version differences though and if they are enough to make TASing it good enough. SMG is currently desync prone, so I wouldn't put my bets on it becoming sync-friendly for a while. All I can say is good luck, work hard, and keep us updated. Actually, I'm kind of interested in seeing links to your previous TASes and work in progresses, over the past 3 years. Edit: I'm confused, are you two brothers?

Edit 2: Sorry, can't make up my mind. I don't mind if you guys are back and you are mature and won't troll here. But I don't know how I feel about two people sharing an account. Not only is it confusing, but it seems like a way to avoid for one person's actions. I personally would prefer it if you each used separate accounts. It doesn't seem to violate any Terms of Use or such, but still. I hope in the future you won't troll. I still find 13 and 11 to be young. You said you were "just young", but that wasn't even a year ago. We were all young once, and I did stupid things when I was younger. I don't even know what I'm rambling on about now. Whatever. Just be mature here and you'll be fine. Lay low, learn about TASing, submit a couple of crappy TASes and get feedback about how it can be improved. That's how I started. Now I'm busy making a huge TAS that is pretty optimal. Oh yeah, try not to be too cocky.
ColdStardust wrote:
I am the one destined to make all the SMG TASes, because I consider ourselves the best in the world at the game. I don't mean to brag about that, but Billy R. and I have played that game and rejected SMG2 (because to be honest I think it kinda sucks) and we've found so many shortcuts that other people (even speedrunners) haven't yet found (and trust me, we've looked everywhere I tell you. EVERYWHERE). So I'd like to be the one to do this projects.
I'm sure there are people who are more eager and more experienced than you wanting to TAS that game. TASing with Dolphin certainly isn't easy. Just because you are good at a game doesn't mean you are going to be good at TASing it. Perhaps these "shortcuts" you've found aren't even faster in speedruns because of the route they take, so they don't matter. It's important to stay humble, especially with people here.

I love this game :D. This run will no doubt be awesome to watch, given the things I've seen thus far. Two things came to mind when watching the latest WIP: 1. Isn't it possible to take the last hit from the blue jelly at a better angle to be closer to the water? The angle looked a bit off, or did it not matter due to the water level changing? 2. After collecting the sword, isn't it faster to attack the Hobgoblin from the other side, so that you push it, and yourself, closer to the door or did the distance not matter?
1) The water level is increasing so fast that the angle doesn't matter, he hits the water on the same frame. 2) I improved it quite a bit, Link to video Also, found a silly new dry storage spot at the top of DRC, it'll save anywhere from 8-10 seconds, I haven't timed it. I also found out that dry storage is possible when fighting Ghoma, and that it saves several seconds by allowing you to enter the warp earlier, and move during the cutscene. It saves 5-7 seconds, counting in the time to do the dive itself. Thats another 13-17 seconds shaved off of DRC!

Not to be impatient, but how close to complete would you estimate this run is right now?
If you go by run time, at least 8%.
Sadly, it's not that high. From here on, it's going to be a lot more gameplay and less cutscenes. The tricks are going to be much harder. But now I'm working on it a lot more, so it is coming along, don't worry.

Yeah, I timed the sidling wrong when I was first doing it. I thought it was faster than it actually was. W/e, it's better now.

Link to video The end of FF1 has been improved. Mugg improved the sidling and I managed to squeeze some frames from the fight. An amazing total of 105 frames saved... I'm so sloppy ;_; List of time saved over rta: -11:23 up to FF1 -0:45 from already getting rupee bag -1:09 from already getting Wind Waker -5:50 from Delivery Bag Skip -1:00 lowball estimate of DRC -4:00 estimate for FW time saved -3:00 estimate for ToG -4:10 lowball for WT -1:40 for light arrow skip -3:10 from puppet ganon skip That's almost 36 mins. I'm too lazy to time everything, but that's just over 3 minutes of time needed to save for sub 4. That'll just happen from optimization and route improvements. A lot less sailing, also time will be saved in Savage Labyrinth for sure. Then ET is going to be crazy... Just saying.
