That's a shame :( Having a long refill only portion in the run would kinda drag it down... I'll watch it again to see if I find a good refill that you maybe missed (good excuse to watch it again ^^) Ok, there really isn't anything. So, maybe grab a refill somewhere?

I see Isee. Since I only did 100% stuff I alsmost never had to worry about refills... Anyways, the point is where Ferret refills on that one circling enemy (I don't know any names), right? And afterwards he jumps through one long hallway where there's a lot of those jumping, floating-down pancake-thingies. Can't they drop missiles? Don't have access to the game right now so I can't test, will do later if nobody else did till then.

I'm pretty sure that's not correct. I never even tried to figure out the rules, but you sure can get missiles from almost everything (unless of course this is related to the glitch, which I think is unlikely). They can be hard to get, but they should be there. Oh, and again: Awesome run!

How can you compare finding some few frame speedtricks in a video game to a man that composed 9 symphonies while going deaf at the same time?
I hurd Saturn can compose 9 symphonies while at the same time find some few frame speedtricks in a videogame.

I had once done some easy TASing with ZSNES, and did not have any problems with desyncs.

SM TASing is serious business.

That run is amazing. Usually glitched runs don't entertain me too much because they are too short and you don't get what's going on, very different here. Some serious wtf moments ^^ I liked the scene before you collected the Springball, I thought "Hey, why don't you get up there and get the Varia suit?" and then you went and collected it - jumping through the floor from some crazy place that had Metroids mainly consisting of letters Oo Oh, and the zipping just after Varia was nice. Cardboard, I would like to introduce a little competition again, but won't have time for that in the foreseeable future :( glhf with your runs!

I couldn't access the site for roughly a week up til today. I'm in Japan as well. Censoring seems unlikely to me, I didn't change the provider or anything, and government random one week censoring seems equally... well, random, right?

Are those slowdowns emulation bugs (think Ocarina of Time on Mupen) or due to the CPU being not fast enough? If it's the latter it would not matter too much, because in an exported video file there would be no slowdown. Somebody was talking about slowdown Megaman runs, I just wanted to point out that with additional hardware (like the Cyclo Evolution) you can use slowdown on the actal console, so maybe that wasn't an emulator movie. I say it would be the best to have rerecording as soon as possible, simply because I can't wait to see TASing on the DS :p

Golden Dawn is pretty nice, a bit random on the secrets though imo... I'm trying to find Varia, and it's driving me crazy ^^ edit: Found it, thanks

I was just pointing out the resemblance the game has to the dual/multi megaman runs, I didn't really mean they stole the concept and stuff, just wanted to do it in a funny way.
Post subject: So they stole two-megaman-games-at-once idea...

The problem is that you have to reenter the queens belly after laying the initial 3 bombs because she spits you out after a bomb explodes. So if you have the missiles its always faster that way.

Wow. Spiderthrowing off enemies? Cornercutting Metroids again? The best Queen-fight ever? And shattering my dreams by improving 6 minutes ^^;? Cardboard, you own. That is all.

Very nice, and definitely good that you did not use the laser.

[...] Do we know why the spider throw works? I mean it's not that hard to figure out how it works (activating the spider ball anytime the morph ball is moving upwards and to the left gives the ball a considerable amount of horizontal velocity). But why does that happen? Is it related to RAM addresses in some way? And why only to the left?
Unfortunately we don't know, but now that you mention it I would be very interested in knowing this, too...

Color would be better imo if possible, but sometimes i think the sleek black and white is more attractive than some mesh of red and blue.
Actually, the color information already exists in the ROM, and is identified autimatically when played through SGB. The color palette I showed in the previous run's submission thread was merely a tweaked version of the original colorization.
Well, but only 8 colors work for us. If the GBC-level colors are activated via patching the rom the run desyncs :(

That was awesome, I can't believe you were able to optimize the Metroids this much. Very firm yes-vote from me.

Just as a short update, I'm doing a run for the DX patched version, almost the same as my other run but with more speed \/entertainment tradeoffs, e.g. collecting beams in the right order and stuff. Not meant for publication on this site, but I'll make it available on youtube for enthusiasts.

After having some desync problems I was finally able to watch this run after downloading the torrent. To put it shortly, this was one of the most entertaining runs I have ever seen. Entertainment > speed imo.
