It's pretty hilarious when you think about it. Look at how pretty, symmetrical, smooth and juicy those curves are. Look at how most people died outside the hospital, where highly competent physicians saved the lucky bastards who got the intubation.

1) How do you perform a block clip with Yoshi without max speed ? What X/Y values are we looking for ? I mean a block that is 3/4/5 tiles high, not on the ground by just dismounting.
There's an old guide here with screenshots. I suggest displaying the interaction points and the layer 1 square tile https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=viewthread&t=62870

2) How do you perform the rope glitch from a distance ? I've seen it in a couple of TAS now.
Quoting Kaizoman: As an alternative to the above, the "climb anywhere" rope mechanism glitch can also be activated by grabbing onto the very far edge of a rope mechanism (so that Mario immediately falls off) at the same time he interacts with the side of a block, even if the mechanism isn't moving directly into said block. Gif with full speed: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/167412470862970881/462505481898950676/smw-climbing-glitch-new_00000.gif Video with slow speeds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6umsPN1vxtI The mechanism is the same, a solid block must be adjacent to the rope. "Run towards the block, touching the extreme-left of the hitbox and, in the next 2 frames, touching the block (to have $77 set laterally). [valid for the gif]" "the rope pushes mario to the center, when you press up. The means, to the left in this situation. However, Mario follows the rope and goes to the right together. So, just press up in the last frame before the rop reaches X = 287 [valid for the video]"

I'm not so sure. Near claims to have no real-life friend. This Hector Martin says he is a friend of a friend of Near. He's also the one who called the police department asking for confirmation, according to
I have spoken to the police department in charge of the investigation, and they have confirmed that Near passed away yesterday, June 27th 2021. In respect of their privacy, I will not be seeking out any further information. Please don't ask.
https://twitter.com/marcan42/status/1409494303244656644 Does it even work that way in Japan? Can some random person ask the police if a certain, unrelated individual has committed suicide? The Japanese users here might answer.

You shared the whole TAS Studio project. You only need to share the actual movie file (.bk2). You can also upload it here and ask for review http://tasvideos.org/userfiles/

Remark: those triangles with integers sides and integer area are called Heronian triangles and they are more interesting than it appears at first sight. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heronian_triangle https://mathworld.wolfram.com/HeronianTriangle.html

I don't think the concept of information in relativity even existed back in the day. Some people tried to dribble the fact that no physical entity should exceed c and create situations where one could obtain some information from a distant place faster than a signal could have traveled such distance. But even those situations were proved to not carry "information".

Me and a couple of other people think that it's either a dirty ROM or hardware failure. I don't see how this crash would be possible in this situation. Heck, we can't even crash the game without Yoshi in the original game yet.

I have one more question for the SMW experts, because it's driving me mad. I've tried for hours to no avail. I used the double-tongue glitch, first one on a Blue P-switch (slot 6) second one on a Fish (slot 4, also tried slot 3) I wanna stun and we're not in water. I'm trying to activate its stun timer by killing it with a noteblock to trigger Reznor but no matter what I try, it doesn't kill it. However I tried to kill the fish the same way before the double-tongue glitch and succeeded multiple times with very few trouble. Am I just unlucky, or is there a condition that needs to be met so the fish can be killed ?
When you wanna stun the fish without the water and without being in a level with buoyancy, you have to make a quick eat cancel. Yoshi must be hurt as soon as possible after the tongue touches the fish. Yoshi licks sprites in two steps, in one frame Yoshi registers the sprite in the tongue (using Yoshi's misc tables). In the second frame, the sprite itself registers itself in as licked (using its misc table). You can avoid that 2nd step with eat-cancel and this is what makes the sprite unable to be hit with the cape or noteblocks.

SNES: My understanding is that the clock of the SPC700 is one of the major obstacles to verifying more games.
I've seen this. The game has to sync with the SPC700 and wait for it to complete its main loop or some routine. When it happens, the duration might vary between consoles or even between powerons/resets, making this a major cause of desyncs. Usually happens when the game lags or not depending on this small timeframe. The TASer might be able to manipulate the uncertainty to always lag or always not lag in various situations though, by attempting different sounds in previous segments of the run or by delaying/sacrificing 1 frame.

At first, it seemed to be a linear game and trivial to TAS, but after a few levels it showed more complexity. Nice run and yes vote.

When a website does tot accept long passwords, they give me the sensation that they are storing it in plain text in the database, which is unacceptable even for non critical services. I'm sure TASVideos doesn't do it, though.

I haven't traced a single log in a while. I believe that if the invincibility timers is positive, the kongs can enter another barrel. Maybe more than 2 at once in a "single hurt".

Stupid question, but is it somehow possible to bring a grey P-Switch through a pipe and have it still act like a Grey P-Switch instead of a blue one ?
You have to carry two items through the pipe and let the item that you want to be untouched be in the highest slot. This way, the tweakers and miscellaneous sprite tables of the highest item will remain the same while the other sprite will be reset.

Most countries are, at the worst case, converging towards around 700 deaths per million, or one death per 1428 people. Some of the worst cities had 1 death / 400 people. Belgium has been over counting the number of deaths and San Marino is such a small sample. It means that most people that would die from the virus already have in many places. The vaccine will become largely irrelevant in America, South America and a few Europe countries, with only a few people taking it due to fear.

Things are starting to become interesting here, in number of cases. I believe almost 10% of the population already got the virus and the inflection point is near, despite the ridiculous low 376,669 confirmed cases. Don't ever let the State lock you down, specially if this procedure is not predicted in the law and the disease is not that bad as they said. Wear masks when you are around people in public, avoid aglomerations, but don't stop going out, don't stop making exercise or walking under the Sun. Your body will need solar light. See your friends and family in small number if both of you are not in the risk group. Don't be a coward and protect the elderly. Good night.

Does it offer any new feature that would help making TASes? People are not going to download and execute some binary (closed source) on the internet unless they have a good reason to.

I cannot test as I don't use Windows. Try to use GUIDs (= UUIDs) instead of names.
Language: lua

local function randomize_rng() local new_rng1 = math.random(0, 255) local new_rng2 = math.random(0, 15) memory.usememorydomain("Combined WRAM") memory.writebyte(0x040FB4, new_rng1) memory.writebyte(0x040FB5, new_rng2) end local handle = event.onloadstate(randomize_rng) console.log('handle', handle) -- for debugging purposes TODO: erase event.onexit(function() local foo = event.unregisterbyid(handle) -- not by name console.log('foo', foo) -- test whether it worked. TODO: erase end) while true do emu.frameadvance() end

I'm not certain I follow what you mean when you mention "what if you are executing a function in the middle of the frame"? How would a frame number-comparison method break down in that instance?
Some emulators, not sure about BizHawk, will increase the framecount in the 1st instruction after the frame breakpoint. BTW, being unaware of a certain API function, and using the other APIs to hack a solution, is not uncommon.

Retroedit's answer does not substitute a proper onLoadState event. What if you load a state whose framecount is the current plus 1? Or if you are executing a function in the middle of the frame? Use BizHawk's event library: event.onloadstate string event.onloadstate(nluafunc luaf, [string name = null]) Fires after a state is loaded. Receives a lua function name, and registers it to the event immediately following a successful savestate event Reference: http://tasvideos.org/Bizhawk/LuaFunctions.html

Is space infinite, or is there some kind of limit to it?
Kinda complicated question. It's physically impossible to be sure of the infinity, but it seems to be the case. The curvature of the Universe is at least very close to 1, with an error less than 2%. But how can we get an zero error? We can't. And this also presupposes an overall spherical shape, not e.g. a Poincaré's dodecahedral space, with the observable Universe contained within a "face".
