Bam. Movie file. Be sure to delete or rename your current .srm file on the game (if there's saved data on it). If you don't, the movie file will desync from the title screen. The movie itself has the tendency to desync anyway — for me, anyway — but only around the first boss fight. Once you get past that, you're in the clear. Best of luck in trying to complete the run.

Ahaha, no wonder I didn't see anything. I was thinking "Gens options", not "game options". Thanks.

Also, for those of you who are having desyncs (which is probably most of you), it is because the GMV linked in the first post, and the GMV linked here, too) require the camera scrolling to be set to "extended" in preferences.
I'm not seeing anything about any camera setting at all in Gens, much less a selection for "preferences". Something tells me that you're using an entirely different version of Gens than the ones that I have.

I've yet to see the movie, but you might wanna cancel your previous submission, now that you have an improvement of the same game.

*sniff* Shall I assume that the great Profound Darkness will never meet her end at the hands of the almighty TAS? :(

The movie entertained me. It made an otherwise boring game interesting to watch — though it being around six minutes long definitely helped — and the bosses got destroyed in record time. For that reason, I voted yes.

Would it be possible to just continue the second quest run where the first quest run left off? It'd save the time needed to create a new file and input "ZELDA."
It'd be possible, but considering that's usually done only when something's not accessible in the first playthrough, I have my doubts that it would be accepted. Besides, people look for the routes and techniques that're done in the bulk of the game; something like using a savestate just to save a few frames in spelling out "ZELDA" likely wouldn't make a big impact. Or, it wouldn't if I had my way. :E

Watched it. Liked it. Yes on publication. And for what it's worth the "black blob" is Gooey, and the "girl blob" (if it's the one with the bow that I'm thinking of) is Chu. Both are in Kirby's Dream Land 3.

If another Zelda no Densetsu movie were made, I'd rather see the old second quest TAS get obsoleted first. But that's just me. ... I'm not a big fan of playing Zelda, but runs like these never cease to amaze me. Yes vote for publication, and a moon vote on this end.

And what are the differences between the SNES and GBA versions, aside from graphics, sound, and extra hidden bosses?

Excellent run. The tricks that you used to save time were very nice and clever, and this run has by far the best playthrough yet of Misty Star World. Yes vote, and if not a star, this run at least deserves a moon.

I laughed and went "wtf?!" That's good enough for me. Yes for enjoyment, yes for publication.

Mechuyael: Doesn't Namco × Capcom have a system similar to that?

Isn't there a rule on TASvideos stating that the game has to finish the game by the credits running or something like that? If that's so, then that could be a major influence on the way the run is handled. I'm hoping that it'll continue regardless of what path chosen, but that's just a selfish wish. :P (Nice progress thus far, btw.)

Not when you're basically saying that you'd have no preference for guys at all (despite calling yourself gay).

So I'm downloading stuff from this site one night. They happen to have a a readout of the conversation that's happening in their IRC channel, so I decide to read that in an attempt to alleviate any potential boredom. The conversation switches to the topic of sexual preference, and I'm reading all kinds of nonsensicial crap that's killing off brain cells left and right. And just when I didn't think it could get any worse, I come across this gem:
yanno, even if I were gay, I still think I'd be attracted to girls
Ladies and gentlemen, stupidity at its finest.

Edit: Heh. I've been having my own plans for commentaries before this thread came about — including one for Earthbound — but I doubt it would have fully sparked without NapstrPSX's thread. Thanks; here's hoping that your commentary is a hit with everyone. (I'm still making my own commentary, but I'm uncertain as to if I'll be posting the link here. Only time will tell, I suppose.)

By the way, does anyone know of a better place that I could host the file, or is the site that I used Ok?
I had some issues with trying to find the link on that hosting site, but I managed to get it just fine with the "get all using FlashGet" option on IE. I recommend Megaupload or Sendspace, but it's up to you. Best wishes on your commentary. ^_^

Funny thing, I have plans to contribute to the site with commentaries of my own, Earthbound being one of the games that I have planned. (That is, once I get off my arse and buy a mic.) Don't worry though; after listening to your commentary, it sounds like we have two entirely different styles, and thus two different things to bring to the table. I'm with CoolBumpty on talking more about the game itself, but overall I thought what you posted was pretty good. Here's hoping you're willing to finish it all. ^_^

So... all the characters would basically play like Sabin from FF3? Or maybe more like Zell from FF8, in his limit break?
Actually, the first thing that I thought of was Shenmue with a more flexible combat system.

1) I'm impressed you defeated the Hammer Bros. at level 1... which is something that would be very difficult if you were playing on a real console ^^
It's not that difficult. Just don't screw up a timed block and use your mushrooms when your HP is low, and you'd do just fine. Employing the same tactics to take down the Hammer Bros. as in the TAS also helps.
2) Too much rock candy abuse near the end...
Agreed.
BTW, how do you get rock candy's damage to do 300 to all instead of 200? I don't remember...
I might be wrong on this, but I believe it has to do with Koopa's attack stat being higher than the other characters. So while everyone else is dishing out 200 damage, he's pulling out 300. Least, that's what I gathered from playing the game all those years ago.

I get the very strong feeling that none of the 'No' votes are from anyone who has actually played the game. I would find it quite remarkable that anyone who has played (and enjoyed) the game would vote 'No' here, just because this is an amazingly fast run through on what is a remarkably long game.
For the record, there have been a number of games that I thoroughly enjoyed playing, but I thought they were incredibly boring as a TAS, no matter the amount of skill involved in making the movie. (Final Fantasy VI and Star Ocean come to mind. Tales of Phantasia probably wouldn't fare much better either.) Also, I think you're reading the poll wrong. The question is "Did you like watching this movie?", not "Do you think this movie should be published?" If someone watches the movie and doesn't like it, then what reason would they have to vote yes?
