I'm not a fan of unorganized wishlist threads, but since these are not mentioned here: Ultima VII: The Black Gate Ultima VII Part Two: The Serpent Isle The non-linearity of these games should give plenty of opportunities for major skips. It would be very interesting to see what kind of routes and tricks emerge in a TAS environment.

What makes you think the first mission needs to be completed to finish the game?

I don't like this post. If you are really trying to get help, I think it is not in the spirit of the competition. You have teammates, rely on them! I think the most exciting thing about the competition is finding out what everyone came up with at the end. If it is an attempt at sarcasm (in the spirit of this thread), I think it is a bit too subtle.

The goal is defined well and the run has some nice zipping that was not presented in the any% run, so I'm voting yes.

Well, that's good, but this is not the route you should be taking anyway. Just use the other route to avoid the lag and save ~3 seconds. I am currently optimizing my emulator settings, so can't help you any more than this.

Good run! Maybe it would save time to let one of the players die somewhere and then respawn with full health?

Nope. It is purely a coincidence that the ball almost goes into the hole. This just happened to be the best shot that got into the whale mouth on the first cycle.

Thanks for the question, thommy3. The whale takes about 10 seconds to open its mouth, so I needed to get a quick shot there before the mouth was closed. Adjusting the angle and power is slow, so there's no time to do it better. The priority is to get into the mouth on the first cycle and not wait 10 seconds for the mouth to open again. Also, the game must be one of the crudest ball games ever, having only 960 possibilities for each shot, so there's very little room for minor adjustments. That's why the first shot looks bad at hole 7.

I think having both versions would be the best thing. Obsoleting runs over system boundaries makes the situation messy. I would prefer consistently accepting pretty much all versions unless there is something that is objectively bad about the run itself.

What does this even mean? Please elaborate! It is very irritating that you claim you found some movement trick and refuse to tell everyone how to do it exactly! Please avoid technical jargon around here. Just because you understand how to do it doesn't mean everyone around here has the same level of expertise. Status update: I am now about 50% into starting the emulator, but I need to redo the first mouse click again, because it is very hard to get the second click to hit the same icon while also counting it as a double click. It gets even harder, because I often hit the wrong banner and then some interesting pop-up windows pop up and I get very very badly distracted.

Serial killer squirrel wreaks havoc on all continents. Poor inuits! Now I know why bees go extinct. This person is jumping on them. Luckily, games don't represent reality, so my vote goes for this sociopath nutcase.

I agree with Masterjun. This game is a hidden gem of non-tased NES games. It is like... umm... Mega Man Minus One...?

Good question. Let's see. Out of my 30 currently published movies, I had played two games before tasing them (namely: Gods & Wonder Boy in Monster World). However, after tasing, no, none. I have not played any of those games before or after tasing. Depending on the type of the game, I might play it casually sometime during the making of the TAS, but even then my playing style might be too quirky to resemble any kind of casual playing. When I look at my publications, I think The Humans is the game I would play, if I had to choose one. The Humans combines action and puzzle elements very nicely. If there were DLC and harder challenges, I would definitely play the extra content.

Unfortunately, no. If I recall correctly, both the time and player position can affect monster movement patterns. Anyway, the run is so old that it would be much better to redo it from the beginning.

Here is a good game to TAS for a beginner, the PCE version of The Ninja Warriors. If you are interested, feel free to join the project. I don't know how actively I'll be doing it, so all help would be nice.

Yeah, I guess the game is too hardcore to gather any fans. I am tempted to say that the clumsy interface reminds me of Dwarf Fortress.

How do we know this isn't a symptom of some bugs in the emulator that, maybe, the run itself is (inadvertedly) exploiting to get a faster time than should be possible?

This is brilliant. Thanks a lot, notaz! I feel relieved to know that the crazy TAS stuff works on the real machine. I like how the title screen text is partially off-screen because the button is pressed too soon. This kind of buggy behavior made me often feel that they don't think it be like it is, but it do.
