Maybe I'm wrong, but some parts of the "secret worlds" resembled the small air ships from SMB3. This stuff is quite crazy, so my "yes" vote almost overflows to "no". Not quite, thoughdBFGwFFFJF

Hey, maTO has made a nice TAS through that game in slightly over 2 hours. You can find his run here: http://www.freewebs.com/suklaalevy/files/megadrive/

There is no way to verify how a given input file was created, so there is no point in reducing the emulator features. Somebody could still use another emulator and claim that she used the special emulator that has no support for those tools. Sorry, I have no solution for this case.

I wonder what TASVideos would look like if alden and I could be judges for a week. We could call the week "The Saturnalia Week!" Actually, according to Wikipedia, it has happened, almost:
Wikipedia almost wrote:
Origins The Saturnalia was a large and important LAN party in TASVideos. The Saturnalia was originally celebrated in Ancient NESVideos for only a day, but it was so popular that soon it lasted a week, despite adelikat's efforts to reduce it to three days, and Truncated's, to five. It involved the conventional sacrifices, a couch (lectisternium) set out in front of the temple of Saturn and the untying of the ropes that bound the statue of Saturn during the rest of the year. A Saturnalicius princeps was elected master of ceremonies for the proceedings. Besides the public off-topic discussions there were a series of WIP TAS exchanges and customs celebrated via private messages. The celebrations included a school holiday, the making and giving of small presents (saturnalia et sigillaricia) and a special gruefood (sigillaria). Voting was allowed for all, even lurkers; however, although it was officially condoned only during this period, one should not assume that it was rare or much remarked upon during the rest of the year. It was a time to eat, drink, and be merry. The mood avatars were not used, but rather the synthesis, i.e. colorful, informal "dinosaur clothes"; and the pileus (megaman's hat) was worn by everyone. Lurkers were exempt from punishment, and treated their masters with (a pretense of) disrespect. The lurkers celebrated admin privileges: before, with, or served by the masters. Yet the reversal of the social order was mostly superficial; the submissions, for example, would often be prepared by the lurkers, and they would encode their masters' AVIs as well. It was license within careful boundaries; it reversed the social order without subverting it. The customary greeting for the occasion is a "io, Saturnalia!" — io (pronounced "yo") being a Latin interjection related to "ho" (as in "Ho, praise to Saturn").[/quote] I only had to change a few words, so it's almost true for the most part!

There is a movie for Ecco the Dolphin, but "Ecco: The Tides of Time" is a different game. There is no published movie for the latter. Anyway, the list may contain some mistakes, so please continue notifying any suspicious seeming thing there, thanks.

It is there, on the "not working" tab. The graphics are not emulated correctly in that game. Ok, LagDotCom's choice is Rings of Power and Tub got Golden Axe 2 & 3. Warp can still choose the fourth one.

Ok, I got what I wanted. Everything is working perfectly now and this saves many hours of my time. Thank you. I'm going to spend those saved hours in experimental Gens TASing, so as a reward for helpful posts, Tub, Warp and LagDotCom, each of you can now choose one game from this page: http://tasvideos.org/ListofIdeas/Genesis.html I'll play all three games through normally and then I pick one of them and start TASing it for a few thousand rerecords. P.S. LagDotCom, don't ask me to improve King's Bounty this time!

Oh dear, I'm sorry, but now there's some problem when I try to run the PHP script:
parse error, unexpected T_STRING in script.php on line 3
I have tried modifying the script in many ways without success. Imagemagick itself is working wonderfully, by the way. Thanks for showing it to me.

Thanks guys. I'm a lousy Windows user, so I had to install some exotic ports to try those things and it turned out to be a bit cumbersome process. In other words:
seq: command not found
Oh, by the way, I happen to have PHP installed. So, what might a corresponding PHP script look like?

Short question: How to copy-paste a pile of images into another pile of images automatically? Elaborated question: Let's say I have two folders containing image files (in PNG format). The first folder is called "backgrounds" and contains a few hundred images named in numbers: 0.png, 1.png, 2.png... The second folder is called "front layers" and contains a few hundred (transparent) images named in numbers: 0.png, 1.png, 2.png... I would like to combine the images from these two folders together, so that all the "front layer" images are pasted as front layers onto the corresponding "background" images. These combined images would then be either saved in a third folder called "finished images" or just overwrite-saved to the existing "backgrounds" folder. It could be done manually, but I would like to know if there is a way to automatize the process. I can make some simple scripts for GIMP, but I can't quite handle multiple files at once and save them accordingly. Any scripting help would be appreciated and any kind of solution to the problem will suffice. Are there other programs than GIMP that might provide this kind of functionality? It's a simple task, but laborious to do by hand. As always, helpful posts might be rewarded with a few thousand rerecords.

I've wathced tons of movies recently, so I might as well recommend some: In Bruges (2008) is the best one I've watched this year. That's all I want to say about it. Genre: Comedy / Crime / Drama Country: UK / Belgium Ten Canoes (2006) is something you might easily miss. It presents a type of humor I've never seen in a movie before. Starring: Aboriginals from Australia! Genre: Adventure / Comedy / Drama / History Country: Australia Everything else has been more or less basic stuff compared to these two.

The game choice is interesting. However, your movements are not as precise as possible. You should hold left to get space for acceleration during jumping onto higher platforms. Hugging the wall means that when you get over the obstacle, your speed starts from 0.

Hah, sorry, I didn't even know Dega had memory watch feature. It seems that I was wrong about the character movement. Good thing the giant part got improved, though. Good work! Well, ok, so now I don't have anything else to say about it.

Oh, BZero, despite what I said in the first post, I actually found some room for improvements in the movie: Before you kill the giant, you should wait and not kill it immediately, because luckily it is walking towards you (which was not the case in you previous movie). If you kill the giant at the last possible frame before it kills you, you save some walking time, about 30 frames. Also, whenever you use the action menus, you should not release the direction pad for that frame, because the walking is still registered for the frame you activate the menus. To be sure and to make the recording easy, you might want to always hold the D-pad to the direction you are going to walk next, even during screen transitions. That way you never miss those so called "window of opportunity" frames. For example, believe it or not, you can turn the character around on the start location with the D-pad before any other button is pressed and the game has not even started. Generally, it should always be assumed that a game character is able to move, even during inventory screens, death animations, continue screens, game over screens, ending credits, pause screens or the game title screens. For the purpose of TASing, you might as well assume that the character is able to move when the whole console is turned off and the world has ended. Never assume that the character is unable to do something at a given frame. :) Oh, it seems that sometimes you can start turning away from an item during the frame you pick it up: Frame 1: < Frame 2: > A The game is made very short now, so I would be glad to see an updated movie before this one gets published. However, I completely understand if you are not going to do it right away, BZero. My "yes" vote still stands.

Thank you, Twisted Eye! I'm glad you enjoyed the partial movie. It is a shame that many people have missed this great game, because it was released exclusively in Japan. By the way, here are some memory addresses for the future hero who tries to TAS this game: Player character: 00FFA122 - X-position 00FFA124 - X-sub-pixel-position 00FFB056 - Y-position 00FFB058 - Y-sub-pixel-position 00FFDA77 - Player HP 00FFDA7D - Life drop counter 00FFDA80 - Gold Bosses: 00FFB49C - Boss HP 00FFB49D - Boss invulnerability counter 00FFB4A0 - Boss HP 2 00FFB4A1 - Boss invulnerability counter 2 Other: 00FFB05A - Helper Y-position 00FFC73A - Screen horizontal position

Too bad the Sega CD offers a huge load of RPGs, autoscrolling shooters and "interactive movies" instead of fast-paced platformers and other action-packed stuff. Sonic CD is probably the best game for TASing on this platform and it is already done very well. Anyway, I think these are good candidates: The Secret of Monkey Island (If the port happens to be good enough.) Out of This World 2 - Heart of the Alien Popful Mail Well, I don't know much about the Sega CD stuff. I don't mind if somebody adds a new tab to the Sega Genesis Game List to include all Sega CD games.

Win XP. Tested it again and indeed "background input" seems to be enabled by default. Edit: Oh, also it's ONLY the hotkeys. Controller input is not registered while using other programs.
