Hi Beefster09, always nice to see submissions from new players!

You know nothing about the player, so please don't make assumptions about laziness. Maybe the run is made by someone suffering from dwarfism? Maybe it spent 1000 hours on the run with its chubby fingers or tentacles? That would not be lazy.

This is a funny game and a nice choice for a TAS. I would like to TAS some DOS games myself, like Alone in the Dark and Mine Bombers, but so far I haven't had the guts to learn JPC-RR properly. Using the current BizHawk feels so awesome. Whenever I start JPC-RR I feel like a hopeless noob:

I believe the music choices are intentionally stupid and humorous. It is called Kama Sutra, but nobody complains about the name. I guess Kama Sutra and demon splatter fit together perfectly in people's minds.

Hey, Akse, I think the music was too loud compared to the sound effects. Maybe lower the music by one step for your future videos? Voting yes!

This game feels like Rolo to the Rescue, so improving Rolo is worth checking out, if you enjoy TASing stuff like this.

I tested some stuff with this game a few years ago and it seemed that a two-player run will be faster, even though the second player can't have as fast character as the first player. Sometimes the first player needs to wait for the second player to catch up, but it only happens in a couple of large screens. The minor time loss from the slower second player will be gained back in faster boss fights. There might also exist some shortcuts by dying on air and respawning on the same spot. You can "double-jump" from air when respawning. I did not find any useful shortcuts with this trick, but maybe I didn't try hard enough.

No, my location refers to the speculative "Omega Point Theory" by Frank J. Tipler. I did watch True Detective, though. The second season was a disappointment. The first season was great.

Hi goldenband! Yeah, I think the route is doable in real-time. It would be interesting to see speedruns of this.

Thanks for pointing it out, RGamma. That is an interesting track. I kind of missed it even though I've TASed the game. Almost as noisy as Merzbow.

Good job finishing this despite not having a lot of motivation though!
Thanks, I actually did have motivation for doing this. It was fun. What happens is that I occasionally browse some ROMs with whatever happens to be the latest version of BizHawk. Sometimes a game appears that fits my TAS mood and abilities. Then I transform into a smiling TAS robot. This was a funny little project that was started and finished in a day or two. Oh, but yeah, you are right that I didn't have the motivation to really push the game to its limits. The problem is that the effort required for additional improvements escalates exponentially and TASing quickly becomes an overwhelming burden. Even if I had spent twice the time with this run I might have saved only a few frames. That is indeed something I have no motivation for. And yeah, the game is bad. It has a nice B-movie flavor. It feels like a combination of The Beastmaster and Surf Nazis Must Die. I like that.

How hard would it be to do this on a console? Is there maybe an alternative setup that requires less precision?

So, a game is broken in a silly way. It is hardly the first time. Just explain to the audience that the game is broken. Then make the most entertaining thing you can. Do not underestimate the audience's capacity to understand what's happening. This whole thing will be awesome. It can literally be the cure for cancer.

Maybe we should have a face recognition tool and some sensors on our bodies that evaluate our emotional states during a TAS. A program then rates movies automatically based on our biometric data. 0 clicks required.

Thanks for the info, Mothrayas. Nice to hear it's been discussed.

Is there a good reason for this? Why can't the single click also be the confirmation of it?

Why? Isn't it possible that a simpler design makes more people vote, which would make the ratings more accurate? I'd say just make it as simple as possible and trust the wisdom of the crowd.

"10 clicks"
Okay, I tested it again. The maximum amount of clicks is 10. The minimum amount of clicks required is 3: 1. Click to start rating the movie. 2. Click to rate the movie. 3. Click to confirm that you have rated the movie. Other sites just do it with one click: 1. Rate the movie. Which one is better?

How do you know this is true? I didn't stop rating because of that. Most people never even start rating movies, because the possibility to rate is hidden. IMDb has a masterful design saying "Your rating: **********" right next to the cover image of the movie even though you are not logged in.

So you first spend anywhere from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours watching a TAS, but then you can't be bothered to spend a few seconds making "10 clicks".
Yes, because TASing is fun and watching TASes is fun. So is rating content at IMDb, Goodreads and AllMusic. Rating stuff at TASVideos is not fun. It feels like work. Yes, it makes sense.

Thank you for the nice idea, arandomgameTASer. As I've said before, I will rate every movie after the rating system requires 1 click instead of 10 clicks. I like rating stuff. I rate albums at allmusic.com, movies at imdb.com and books at goodreads.com, all of which require 1 click only. Rating can be done easily right after finishing the thing and it takes only a second. By the time I've rated 10 TASes at TASVideos I've rated 100 things elsewhere. That's why I don't bother rating TASes.

There is no such thing as finishing a game. It is a vague concept. One day you finish a game and next day the game is there again. The question is: Does this run accomplish something interesting? The answer is obvious.

I've played some Doom: http://doomedsda.us/player192lmps.html I mainly record undone "tyson" category runs. Tyson means killing all monsters in a map using only weapon slots 1-2. Basically fist and pistol. I like the category, because it requires planning on where to use the limited pistol shots and then figuring out how to safely punch the remaining monsters. I recently tysoned Alien Vendetta's map 13, which has 592 monsters. The final time is 2:40:01, which is the longest tyson record ever.

Hi, yep2yel! I don't TAS much these days, but for me it just happens naturally without too much effort. Often it doesn't happen at all, but I don't feel like I need to have motivation for some particular activity anyway. All is well as long as you have motivation for something. Is there some reason you want to have motivation specifically for TASing? Do you have motivation for other things? Changing the game seems to be the easiest thing to do and often worked for me, but you may need to browse and test many games until one of them fits you. Then the TAS just happens almost by itself. I've had times when it felt impossible to TAS for some reason. Sometimes just recording the first few frames felt like hard work. Then other times it just happens.
Most of the time I just get bored.
If this happens, then it is totally okay to just let it be. Try another game or do something else entirely.
