Oh... I don't know what to say... Truncated (or someone), you'd better set this submission status to "delayed", because I may have found an interesting way to improve this movie a bit. Damn. :) EDIT: Forget about it... this movie is not improvable.

Dear music lovers, here's one of the bands I used to play in: http://www.golgata.org/main.htm There's some MP3-stuff for your pleasure. Please don't take the band too seriously. ;)

Truncated, you're doing good job with the submission queue! I managed to find a total improvement of 14 frames in the middle of the movie, but even that is not enough, because destroying the snake pots at different time causes the baby snakes to burst out differently. Also, it seems that the ending-glitch won't work at any time. Being 2 frames faster in the end may not trigger the outro. I believe the only possible improvement would be lag-reduction, because the amount of lag seems to have no causal effect on anything. I have verified (with a savestate cracker) that the ending-glitch works in any level. The problem is that it's impossible to get beyond the level borders without the bomb. Edit: Ok, now I REALLY never play Gods again.

Here's some old homemade bass recording: http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/aqfaq-plays-some-bass.mp3 I used to play bass in various small bands, but lost interest in that a while ago. Nowadays a girlfiend eats a lot of my free time. Currently I'm reading a book called Matter & Consciousness. That's school stuff. I have no TV.

I wonder how this higher being might react after receiving ninja rank: http://tasvideos.org/forum/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=708

Great to see this game done fast. There are some problems with the movie though: 1) You did not choose the hardest skill level. 2) You did not jump constantly. (Jumping at the right edge of the screen scrolls the screen faster than walking.) I have tried this game too, but cancelled the project, because this is a damn hard game to optimize. My vote: no.

Thank you for asking. I should have explained it more carefully in the submission text. It is not exactly Rolo who takes the damage. Rolo itself goes down from a single hit, but if some animals are following Rolo, they take the damage instead. If you have 3 followers (which is the maximum), you can take 3 hits and still continue playing. I wasted Rolo's friends only if it saved time even though it may not look like that.

Nice. Hopefully some of those work in the Genesis version. The trick with Ordos Deviator is very neat! I've had no time/interest to mess with this recently. This game is luck manipulation hell. :)

Try Planet of the Apes for GBA. The character movement is Prince of Persia style, so there's no need for super-precise maneuvering. It's a quite short game too.

I semi-accidentally found a game music masterpiece by Chris Huelsbeck: http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=music&game=Turrican%202

I tested some Genesis games to see if pressing left and right simultaneously caused something interesting. Here are some results I've found so far. Crack Down - It is possible to pass through narrow walls. Very effective in the later levels. The final level can be completed without any effort. The Addams Family - Backwards walking (to the left only). Gets the character inside a wall, which causes fast zipping upwards. Probably useful for some crazy shortcuts. Turrican - Amazingly fast movement (like in Zelda II) in both directions! Passes through any obstacles and extends play area limits. Must have! Hopefully someone finds these useful or funny, at least.

Yeah, but the current Gods movie has been downloaded 536 times. If the next version is equally (un)popular, that will make people watch 1072 frames of unnecessary lag. :) Anything is fine for me. I still recommend using the 2 frames faster version: http://www.freewebs.com/aqfaq/gods.zip It's perfect now. I'll never play Gods again.

Oh, I managed to reduce 2 frames of lag from the movie. Do I need to cancel this submission again, or is there a way to edit the submitted movie file?

Yes, it's almost the same. Sorry for (almost) double submitting. I did make another movie inspired by IdeaMagnate's idea, but the overall time was 4 frames slower, because of difference in lag and failure to fall to the ledge without waiting for the next (the same) frame of opportunity. It seems that the ledge-falling works about every 8 frames. By the way, I tested using different roms: Gods (JUE) [R-Eur][!] and Gods (J). They desynced only because there was different lag. To correct the desync, I had to add/remove a couple of frames. For example, the Japanese rom can be played 2 frames faster to the world 2-2, but the difference is not enough to be of any use, because the (J) rom lags more at world 2-3. I seriously believe this movie to be as fast as possible. There may be some parts that don't look perfect, so please ask anything. IdeaMagnate didn't seem to know much about this game ("I have no idea why you got half the items"), but still made a nice discovery, even though it turned out to be a pseudo-improvement.

Oh my Gods! You gave up too early! I can do that jumping/falling part 6 frames faster! IdeaMagnate, thank you! :) I can probably correct that mistake easily with a hex-editor. I'll cancel this submission.

Your ideas are good, but unfortunately the game does not agree with you. 1) There is a falling damage in Gods. Check out the moment when the invulnerability (circling stars) wears off... 2) It's not possible to grab the ladders from there. :(

1) You can't move after you touch the shop sphere (unless you have started a jump). I tested jumping over the sphere to the left and then back to the right to make the distance shorter, but that was slower. 2) I don't jump, I fall. The horizontal movement is limited while falling. It's not possible to reach the higher platform without jumping. You could jump there, but that's slower. Thanks for asking. Hopefully my answers were good enough. Feel free to ask more. :)

Phantasmagoria, a bad horror adventure game with really bad actors. The game uses 7 CDs, and the final disc is absolutely shocking: ...Don pulls blade release lever and kills Adrienne with no resistance RESTART Unsuccessful attack using fireplace poker, Don pulls lever RESTART Unsuccessful attack using hammer, Don pulls lever RESTART Unsuccessful attack using glass shard, Don pulls lever RESTART Unsuccessful attack using free hand, Don pulls lever RESTART Adrienne pulls lever before Don stands up, killing herself RESTART Presentation of snowman Christmas ornament to Don Don discards snowman and pulls lever RESTART Adrienne pulls lever and kills Don, revelation of demon Demon kills Adrienne... Yes, some point-and-click adventure games have very nice "boss battles". Gabriel Knight is one of my favorites. Hm. Wonderboy in Monsterworld, chaotic final battle. Ultima VII Part II - The Serpent Isle, many amazing battles. Booga-Boo for C64, there was only one very tough enemy in the entire game.

It would be hard to choose the game, because it seems that people have different opinions about emulators. I would probably not want to make a SNES movie. Anyway, TAS (team-assisted-speedrun) is a funny idea. Oh, but all the funniest ideas are usually impractical. I might be interested. It depends on the game/emulator choice. My suggestions for Gens: Batman, Wardner, Tinhead, Mr. Nutz

I second that. More tools for Gens means more run & fun.

Nice movie. In this game, it was a good choice to not take any damage. I'm voting YES too.
